      He’s also missed a ton of time. Worryingly, the injuries haven’t been from big hits but from falls and are all related to the shoulder. He’s a smaller guy so who knows but it’s been pretty worrying.
      That being said, he’s a class act. He comes down and hops on the ice with kids I coach and he’s as genuine as they come. Hope he can recover well this year and stays healthy. Luke isn’t nearly as personable.

    Boston players absolutely didn't take team friendly deals, they just happened to have aged well, the cap increased greatly and/or were signed before the players took a jump in production. When Bergeron signed his deal, it was absolutely market value at the time. The Cap went up significantly during the duration of Bergeron's 8 year deal. Bergeron continuing elite two way production into his late 30's helped too. Pastrnak's six year deal was signed coming out of his entry level and put up one productive season at 70 points. His first two seasons he struggled to find a line up spot. Marchand signed his deal before he took a giant leap in production and two way play. If Marchand's previous contract ended a year later, it would've been much higher.

    Drouin is still my favorite contract in the NHL.. they took a tiny risk at 800k last year and knew there’d likely be an infinite upside. 20 games in? I was trying to see something positive and really didn’t. But the Avs team knew what they had and that he needed more time. And boy did he find his game. Hes had the biggest swing in quality of play of anyone I can think of ever. He’s done what took Val 3 seasons to do. And we don’t know his top end yet. He could very likely turn into a ppg player but with a top 10 in two way play. And we got him for 2.5M for another year! This is totally nutso. I thought he might give us a 20% discount at 4M at best. He could have signed a 5x5 somewhere without a doubt. But, he likely thought, “I’ll be worth 7-8M this time next year, no way I’m signing for 5M. I’ll continue to improve in a place that’s a perfect fit and double down again.” And I bet he’s right. And it’s really special to watch a player that was drafted high and with very high expectations finally learn how to play right. Very similar to Valeri… and I sure hope Val finds a way to stay with the team. Would love to see him and Drouin at their best.

      It's a good shout out. Best way I could think about it is if both were UFAs this year, Anderson would probably get 5.5m while Kempe is in 7.5-8.5m range. At that rate, Kempe seems like more of a bargain.

      Cant be a steal if he has one year left. Plus he is horrible at playing D. one of the worst defensive metrics for any fwd in the league. How do you not know this as a ducks fan

    • @dylanjohnson505
      @dylanjohnson505 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rohanthandi4903 I guess we have different opinions on what a steal is. It only being one year left does knock it down on the “steal meter” but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a steal. He had 37 goals on a team that struggled with their offensive production, and from my eye test he wasn’t that bad defensively- but perhaps I’m wrong as I don’t follow advanced analytics. You very much could be correct- or lying for emphasis on your point, I’ll never know cus I won’t look for proof. Have a nice day pal! Feel free to disagree with my comment agreeing with the video’s pick, while supplying a comment that a fan that may have little reason to pay attention to the ducks may point to a hardworking player with a outlier season.

    • @rohanthandi4903
      @rohanthandi4903 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dylanjohnson505 the reason i say that is cuz its actually a handicap, not a steal to have a guy like this on a low AAV with 1 year left. So yes it destroys the steal meter. Hes going to break the bank. His numbers are inflated as well, this guy is not a top liner on any playoff team like he is in ANA. Anahiem would be stupid to pay him.
      An eye test is something you get at the ophthalmologists, NHL front offices watch tape and they use derived models to determine who is good at what, and from that data its pretty clear that this guy has a big negative impact on D. And NHL team composition is going towards having literally 12 fwds who can play a 200 foot game, teams are finding out that even one winger who is a liability on D hurts you a lot. Why do you think Sprong is a UFA still, hes one of the highest p/60 if u even know what that is
      lying to emphasize my point? look at literally any scouting report on the player. LOL the fact that you can't understand that an expiring contract has almost 0 value and cant be considered a steal given the players imminent UFA status says enough

No need to project that he’s gonna get overpaid and thus is not a steal.

      @@dylanjohnson505 "lying to emphasize my point?"
      its not a disagreement, there is nothing i said that isnt a fact lol. Again every scouting report on the guy by actual scouts says has a defensive liability of some sort.
      And the other thing you are trying to refute makes even less sense. A guy who has no contract beyond this year cannot be considered a steal, how do you not realize hes gonna get the market rate for his inflated ice time soon?
      if ur mortgage is gonna increase 120% in 5 months would you be like "nah its no biggy, the number is good right now" and ignore the impending reality?
      every NHL front office would agree his deal is a liability rn, you either have to flip him at the deadline for whatever you get or overpay him. Hes riding a high shooting% and gets L1 and PP1 over there.
      Steals aren't guys who trap you into an 8 year 7M+AAV deal (which hes on track to get, 37 goals) . those are called albatrosses. which this guy will become if the ducks are dumb enough to sign him.
      Never talked down to you once, just wondering how someone could come to conclusions without any actual evidence for them (random guessing, "eye test")

He should leave east coast california and go play for a team that deserves his god level net protection. If he went to the canes, good luck stopping that dynasty! Igor definitely needs to get paid. When the playoffs come around, he takes it to another level. The rangers lasted as long as they did because he was playing out of his mind. The issue is, he gets little to no support in front of him. That's why, even as a rangers fan, I think that he should look to leave if we can't support him in the playoffs next year. Our other stars go dark, and I really don't want to see Igor go the way of Henrik Lundquist, an all time great goalie without a Stanley cup
