Yes, and I thoroughly enjoyed Tony Twist of the Blues damn near killing him. Twist was the only player that Probert ever backed away from, actually ran away. He knew better.
Yeah I was thinking the same. But he's messed up much worse things on some of these videos than names, yet theyre still kind of good lol. I like lists, people like lists, this is proof that if you make average lists about hockey or something cool and youll get views
Here are a few players that definitely need a mention who were hated by opposing teams. Some names will go back in time because as one commentator said, there IS a modern bias. First I'll mention a few on for the team I've rooted for since childhood, the Montreal Canadiens. Mario Tremblay was well known for being hated by opponents while making his presence felt on the ice . Was also a good offensive contributor as well. I would also add John Ferguson in the 1960s. For Toronto Maple Leafs, I'd throw in a Bob Baun and Darcy Tucker. Lastly a big name was left off. He played for both Quebec Nordiques and Washington Capitals: Dale Hunter.
I agree with you on so many of these. Tremblay's lasting legacy will be running Patrick Roy out of Montreal, and basically ending any hopes of the Habs return to greatness (I say this as a fellow Habs fan). John Ferguson was a BADASS!
To add onto this list it shows how little research the people making this video did that they put Pronger as the most hated or dirty Flyer. Based on what it seems like their criteria was the Flyer on this list should be Dave “The Hammer” Schultz who got into so many fights and got so many penalties he actually released a song in the 70s about being in the penalty box.
What about Eddie Shore, John Ferguson, Stan Mikita (before he suddenly got nice) or the whole Broadstreet Bullies group (let's leave Bernard Parent and Reggie Leach out of it, for obvious reasons)? I obviously didn't see any of these players play live but sometimes you just need to listen.
PK Subban, one of the biggest villain the League has ever seen ???!!! Really ???? Have you heard about Mario Tremblay and type of effect he had on the opposition... This guy was a major nuisance in his days, and has 5 championships as a testimony to his role.
True. I think there is a better example, however. Chris Nilan is remembered as a Hab. He was batshit crazy. Prust was also a true agitator who would pull shit that even Barnaby himself would be proud of. He didn't play for the Habs that many seasons, though. Fits the bill perfectly otherwise.
17:05 - What bullshit. As if a player has time to look for that in a game. You look for the hit, not for players with their heads down. Just too much junk filler information in this video.
2:13 one of Marchand's dirtiest most malicious hits. He's just a sadist; he enjoys inflicting pain. He also really picked back up on the unsportsmanlike conduct when Lucic returned and he had his goon back to fight his battles for him. A sociopathic coward.
Exactly! He's only become what he's become because he was a Bruins, and there was always gonna be someone else fighting his battles for him. Put him on a finesse team, and he doesn't last 10 years
Kids nowadays have no idea. Messier was dirty as hell. I think his dirty plays were forgotten due to his winning legacy. He played with many talented players and made a lot of points. His antics stand in the shadows of that glory. When the NHL or sports networks talk about Messier they always talk about him playing with Gretzky, winning the cup, etc. but never talk about how many penalty minutes he got, and they never talk about the dirty hits contrary to Scott Stevens for example. So today's kids who never saw him play live a lie and have an unrealistic portrayal of him. It's like Gordie Howe. Howe was super dirty, but nobody talks about it nowadays.
For anybody that didn’t know. Mark Messier was a total pos in Vancouver. Wayne Maki was a player who in the 60s was involved in one of the most violent on ice incidents in the history of the NHL. He and Ted Green attacked each other with their sticks and beat on each other in the head. In 1972, he was diagnosed with brain cancer and then died in 1974 at the age of 29. He wore jersey 11. The Canucks took #11 and retired it. When Messier signed as a free agent with Vancouver, he demanded number 11 against the Maki family wishes and most of the public. He then ripped the team apart internally. Trevor Linden was captain of the team. He took the captain from him but he created divisions in the locker room. His attitude was so horrible in Vancouver. He basically got both the GM and Coach fired in not even his first full season there. He basically was Lebron before lebron. He wanted GM powers and convinced the owner to get rid of GM Pat Quinn before Quinn got a chance to fire the coach, Tom Renney. Quinn wouldn’t have put up with Messier bullshit as coach. Tom Renney was a rookie coach, fresh out coaching the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL. Messier created divisions inside the locker room. Back when the Canucks visited the Rangers for Messier return game, he had the game winning goal until a late goal allowed by goaltender Kirk McLean ruined that story for him. He complained and yelled at McLean about it. Every single player who was considered heart and soul players in the organization or leaders were traded away. Mike Keenan got hired as coach and gm. He went on a burn it down approach, trading away McLean and Linden. Mark Messier is definitely most hated in Vancouver to this day.
Ciccarelli hardly played or made a name for himself on the Cats so he’s nowhere near being the Panthers most hated player. That title would belong to Paul Laus or more recently Radko Gudas or even Nick Cousins. Also, that ”Tony Twist” photo is Mike Peluso.
12:06 - You are lost. ''the Selke Trophy, is awarded annually to the National Hockey League forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game'' I repeat, *forward* !
It failed to mention how Claude Lemieux, after delivering a thundering neutral zone check from behind, would then pretend he was a turtle when an opponent would confront him to discuss his dirty check. So a teammate would have to answer for him as he waited for a linesman to knock on his shell and tell him it was safe to come out. He should've got 2 more games for disrespecting turtles.
Of all the intimidating and fearsome players to ever wear the CH, this guy picked PK Subban... I wonder where he sits on Montreal's all time penalty list, let alone the NHL'S all time penalty list.
Subban can skate, shoot and didn't take $hit from anyone, but "hated?" Not the word I would use. He would have been better off saying Donald Brashear even tho I don't really consider him a Habs player, he did play for the team and he was a boxer first, skater second.
Matthew Barnaby actually had some offensive ability so he wasn't a total goon. He once had a hat-trick on Mother's Day. Looking at it objectively and having seen Barnaby for the entire time he was with Buffalo, I'd have to say he was a "Poor Man's Brad Marchand." Okay, may be not a "Poor Man's Brad Marchand", but maybe a "Very Poor Man's Brad Marchand." Uh, yeah...perhaps a "Completely Destitute and Bankrupt Brad Marchand.? Okay, here's my final offer. How about Barnaby is a "Homeless Man's Brad Marchand?" How does that sound? Too good? Still?
The Selke trophy is for DEFENSIVE FORWARDS, NOT offensive defencemen. You prolly should have bothered to fucking mention that he received Selke votes as a fucking FORWARD since he did also play that fucking position for fucks sakes,
Lapierre played a few seasons in my homecountry Switzerland and despite him not being on my favourite team he was always fun to watch. His ability to trashtalk and provoking other players into fighting him without throwing the first punch was sometimes just hilarious.
@@hegodamask7384Probably French. He’s Quebecois and half of Switzerland speaks french as a first language; similar to how half of Belgium speaks French and the other half speaks flemish (basically Dutch but with Belgian accents and colloquialisms.)
When asked Gretzky is there any wishes left what he could dreamed to happen in his former NHL career, he said: "yes there is, i have always dreamed to shoot decisive goal in Stanley Cup game seven during overtime and making it through Esa Tikkanen's ass on the way in goal... and he is representing opponent team." 😂😂
10:55 - He played a lot of wing that season. McSorley was basically a D/RW. You don't see players like that anymore. The last player I remember with significant time both as a D and as a forward is Dandenault during the Carbo era in Montreal.
Domi did it twice too!! Toronto Sun made a comic strip of it. 1st square. Tie with fist raised and crazy grin 2nd. Ulf lipping off 3rd. Tie’s fist meets Ulf’s face.
With Fleury it came out later about the abuse he had suffered in his youth in junior hockey. It doesn’t justify some of the things he did, but it does give some background to things
This guy isn't a real hockey fan. I hate it when posers pretend to be knowledgeable about something that they clearly have little interest in. The real fans will always expose posers like this... makes me wonder why they even bother.
Id say the vid got a lot right but tough guys and excellent body checkers are much different than dirty players. I suppose they can all be hated. Brian Marchment was the most consistently dirty player Ive ever seen. Honorable mention to Keith Tkachuk, Jeremy Roenick and Ulf Sammuelson
Habs fan here. I'd have mentioned Claude Lemieux, easily. I guess the OP only didn't use him because he already used him as Colorado's most hated player
@samuelluria4744 My friend; I have from Google right in front of my eyes Chris Nilan's career years as I'm writing this. With the Canadiens his first season was 1979-80 . Granted, it was only 15 games with the Habs. However he would play until 1987-88 for the Canadiens. During that time he NEVER had a season where he was below 200 p.i.m. Even during the season he was traded to the Rangers, 50 games into said 1987-88 season, he still managed to be penalized over 200 minutes during the part he played for Montreal those 50 games.
As a Pens fan, I noticed a lot of current/former penguins. Almost one third of the list, actually... Marty McSorley (1983-1985) Ulf Samuelsson (1990-1995) Matthew Barnaby (1998-2001) Darius Kasparaitis (1996-2002) Matt Cooke (2008-2013) Steve Downie (2014-2015) Maxim Lapierre (2014-2015) Ryan Reaves (2017-2018) Jeff Carter (2021-2024) FWIW Tuomo Ruutu’s older brother is former penguin Jarkko Ruutu (2006-2008)
And this is the real reason why a lot of fans hate the Penguins. It isn't jealousy over their success, but rather using the same players their organization and fans say are dirty players. Do they stop being dirty when they put on the black and gold?
Evander Kane has been known to run huge restaurant and bar tabs, and then walk out without paying. Leaving the servers to foot his bill. He's not only disliked around the league but throughout the entire community.
Yeah there a distinction between someone in the list that are/were hated as hockey players those that were hated as human beings (even often dirty players are liked off ice; y'know what I mean).
I remember that, my dad told me about it basically saying “Kane would go to restaurants, order tons worth of service and tried to avoid paying, some employees would also take him to the back alley & beat him up to make him pay” pretty scummy to me 😭
@@tomharper8351 Once, but only in passing by a village idiot on the internet in a random comment. Not by the "paid millions for his talent even though he's a D-bag as a person".
The age of whoever made this shows lol. Here are some of my personal corrections: Blackhawks, Stan Mikita. Yes he was talented, but also dirty as hell. He regularly used his stick against other players and was super sneaky about it. Stars: Derian Hatcher aka Frankenhatcher, literally an unstoppable monster. Red Wings: Gordie Howe, same as Mikita. People nowadays seem to forget how dirty Gordie Howe could be. There's a reason why the Gordie Howe hat trick includes a fight. He literally provoked them! Could've said Martin Lapointe too but Howe is more of a Red Wings than him, obviously. Canadiens: Mario Tremblay. Tremblay doubled down as a coach too lol. Blues: Chris Pronger ( yeah he deserves to be on two teams lol )!
Exactly! Dale Hunter was a straight-up criminal. At least, with Chris Simon,it was alcohol abuse, and him trying to stay in the League. Hunter had no such issues
Absolutely, it's Hunter. No contest. It's not about players that were loved on their own team though. Marchand is loved in Boston too. You're missing the point.
Just a note here, It’s pronounced Linz-min And spelled Linseman, not Linesman (As seen on the hockey card you you showed and also on the back of his jersey, as seen in the video.)
Just another case of a wanna-be attempting to make money off TH-cam. These are the kinds of things that expose that a person isn't a real fan of the content they make.
Keep in mind Probert was high on coke most if not all of his NHL career. He tried playing his later years in Chicago clean but his play was no where near what it had been. Yes age set in but his "edge" was gone once the coke was out of his system. I've lived in Chicago all of my life, quite a few decades but I loved watching the Red Wings in the 90's. Sergei Federov was my favorite player on that team.
How do you put Chris Simon as the most hated Capital when his most egregious offenses took place when he was an Islander (the stomp and slash to the head)? Completely bypassing Dale Hunter who leads the NHL in career penalty minutes, had a history of "questionable" hits, and knocked Pierre Turgeon out of the playoffs with a late hit after Turgeon scored a goal. Crazy.
Scott Stevens wasn't dirty? Yet, Chris Neil would wait for a player and attack? Why mention that about Neil and not Stevens. About Reaves you said there is a fine line between someone who will stick up for their teammates and someone who is making plays with the intent to injure. And, you don't think Stevens did that, repeatedly, infamously?
Exactly!! Stevens tried to end guy's careers. It was ugly. I'll hate him for that forever. Such cheap hits that so many bozos thought were wonderful. Anyone can finish off a guy after the puck is gone and you blindside him with a hit to the head (worst was Paul Kariya). Knocked him out...he came back and scored the game winning goal. BUT, Kariya doesn't remember it.
You said Ulf Samuelsson was the most hated Penguin of all time yet the introductory photo is of his son Philip. But all dirtiness aside, Ulf scored the Stanley Cup winning goal just two minutes into game six of the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals which the Penguins won over the Minnesota North Stars 8-0. Cry Ulf!
@@Marcel-fo2cb when the Oilers won their first Cup he deservedly won the Conn Smythe But the next year he went goon-ish, and it was disappointing And I am not an Oilers’ fan
Pretty sure Probert was feared rather than hated, and as time has gone on is somewhere between beloved and respected. If you're going for a hated Red Wing I would point out that Sean Avery actually got his start with the Red Wings and even then his fellow players thought he was an pile of refuse (an anecdote has it that he went to chirp Joe Sakic and Brett Hull sat him back down and said "YOU don't get to talk to Mr. Sakic.") As a runner up, and this might be recency bias, but Niklas Kronwall was always controversial for his hits. Even when most people acknowledged that the hits were legal, he usually had the opposing team's fans in an absolute blood boiling rage. Then there was an inevitable round two on that fury when Player Safety would review it and determine he did nothing suspension-worthy. This was especially on display when Brendan Shanahan was director of Player Safety and you had the added screams of bias in the decision-making.
Vlady moreso than Kronner. Shanahan once said "I used to think that Vlady was borderline dirty, but now that I'm playing with him, I know that he's borderline dirty." With Avery, Hull said that the veterans liked him, but they also kept him in his place. He once walked into the locker room and said "The Big Dog is here." Someone (maybe Stevie Y) retorted "You're not a big dog, you're just a puppy." Hull signed him to Dallas, likely thinking that he could keep Avery on the straight and narrow, which didn't happen, of course.
As a Habs fan, I feel like most hated has to be Mike Ribeiro. He got Jose Theodore slipping in Mtl and was super cocky and a prolific diver (that one against the Bruins being super theatrical). Definition of bad attitude and now might be going away for sexual assault.
Bertuzzi? No way man, mark messier is the most hated in Vancouver. Just ask r/canucks what they think of messier, and you’ll get hundreds of comments saying “fuck messier” over and over.
Scott Stevens is pure and simple the dirtiest player of the list. He hit early, late and his intent was not just to hurt but to end careers. The only good thing about his career is it ended because of concussion.
You never followed up on why Evander Kane was condemned by his own team mates in San Jose. His former girlfriend gave him up for betting on Sharks games. It was over for him in California when the entire team refused to take the ice if he was dressed to play. A gambling addict, Kane ran up huge debts with Las Vegas casino owners, all the while refusing to listen to advice from his team mates.
Fleury was the biggest little man, and he was 1 of the most popular players for a while. He's been through a lot of shit in his career. The captain and heart and soul of Calgary, I loved how his C was a mini flames logo and not just a normal C shape! Proof of his popularity was how many sets featured big time insert cards of Fleury in the 90s and early 00s. And the guy retired at 34, with over 1000 points, over a PPG, scored 50 goals in a season, won the cup, multi time all star left wing, skill wise he's a 100% hall of famer. He's like Steve Larmer, where he retired very young and could have stayed and padded his stats to 1200 points and already been in the hall of fame over guys like say, Dave Andreychuk.
For all the useless information about some of the players on this list that doesn't really have anything to do with being hated, I'm suprised the Paul Kariya hit wasn't mentioned for Scott Stevens. Sounds like Top 6 is a Devils fan lol the way he only focused on him not being a dirty player. Scott made a few dirty hits, he played forever, of course he did. But I agree he was overall maybe the best physical defenseman ever, along with Chris Pronger, who I also don't think is a dirty player. Other teams fans would HATE them but, yeah, they're hall of famers, legends, champions, and among the toughest men to ever skate... Also, a lot of the teams for these players are incorrect. Like Pronger should be St Louis for example clearly. Some are 50/50 like Tiger was most hated in his Vancouver days in all honesty BUT he did play 1 more season with Toronto than with the Canucks.
Max Lapierre was a fun guy to watch in the pre 2010 chaos with Habs. I don't have the best concept of time, but I don't remember anything related to him after he got trade or something. No idea he played for the Blues and had such a poor reputation lol. I really thought he played in Europe not long after MTL but I'm probably mixing stuff up. Definitely wasn't following trades and stuff back then, only watched the playoffs like a poser ;)
I definitely remember him as a Blue, he was kind of an embarrassment but I don't remember anyone really hating him. I think he got dumped on Pittsburgh and nobody noticed. Might have been one of the numerous trades to bring back Perron.

You guys are one of the most important cities in Canada,so,of course, you have to have a team. Other than that,no one thinks anything about the Canucks, except for the Cup riots and the Bertuzzi incident, which was A CRIMINAL ACT- assault, any way you slice it. For future lists like this I have a couple of suggestions-which you are obviously free to ignore; after all, it’s your channel and your content. Still, here me out: 1. Lay out your ground rules. It can help you out in more ways than one. For instance, a quick “we’re only talking about players who are retired. If you want me to make a list of active players who are the most hated, let me know and give me a suggestion for your team.” This sets up the video, has a Call To Action to encourage engagement, and builds in a promo for another video. 2. If you’re going to throw in a change-up (Columbus and Mr. Carter), make more of a deal about it-even maybe use it to make a CTA for another video (“If you want to see a video of the players hated most by their own fan base, let me know below, and tell me who your team’s most hated player is”). 3. Make 100% sure that you have the right images. Everyone comments here about “That’s not Tony Twist, that’s X” is someone who cared enough to post the comment. They’re potential subscribers-don’t risk losing them because of a badly chosen or poorly cropped photo. Good luck with it, bro. I’ll follow along for a bit & see how you’re growing with your videos. TH-cam needs more hockey history channels! ✌️
It’s not even like people view him in hindsight as dirty. When he effectively ended the careers of Lindros and Karina in the immediate aftermath fans were calling him out. I still remember being a kid in 2003 and my dad and all his buddies talking about the end of Lindros in philly and you could tell they were still pissed about that hit.
there were alot of things correct on this list and ALOT of things wrong. however, the most egregious one is definitely saying that every wants Marchand on their team. he is the only player in the nhl who I would absolutely not want even if he scored 100 goals for us and got us a cup. he doesn't belong in the league. period.
Loved carcillo as a flyer. He was a straight nut. Now he's doing great things. I hate Carter. When he was a flyer I worked in the neighborhood he lived in. He lupul and Richard's all lived in the same building and hung out in the area full of restaurants. Lupul was super cool. Richard's and Carter were tools. They treated restaurant staff very poorly. Carter was awful
Gary Suter should be on this list. First player I absolutely hated for his cheapshot crosscheck on Paul Kariya after Kariya scored. Plus he aimed for Gretzky's lower back and injured him.
Ciccarelli wasn't an agitator. He has a premier forward with grit. For Florida I would have gone with Peter Worrell. Even Jovanovski would have been better.
I get annoyed by the love STL has for Donger. He should have never been a Blue, Hull and Shanahan should have never left STL. I know that's not his fault but he's a jackass anyway.
Bertuzzi did tarnish his legacy in the Canucks sweater, however the west coast express line had a very solid outing and he was a big part of it. The hit to Steve Moore was gutless but what was worse was no so much the sucker punch it was his head hitting the ice and bodies piling on him. People in Vancouver do have more charitable memories of Big Bert than negative but no one is going to justify the hit.that said, people in Vancouver hate Messier more. He brought in Keenan, he drove away Linden and Bure, he was so entitled and there to make money and do pills, he demanded to wear the number 11 and spat on the memory of Wayne Maki when that number was out of respect much like 37 unofficially retired by the club. Messier is supposed to exemplify leadership and yet he never took any accountability or acted like a leader whatsoever in Vancouver he was a total pig and if it weren’t for his time in the Oilers and the Rangers his legacy would be so much worse.
"like so many bad players that are a part of stories franchises", then shows Dominik Hasek's Vezina name plates?! 🤔 could just be filler B role but still
I would say Bob Probert was more feared than hated. He was never really a dirty player, just tough and talented. More good clean fights than cheap shots. He did headbutt Bob Mcgill during a fight but the next day in the papers he said it was because his arms were tied up. 😂
Lol Steve Doo-shezz-knee. I know it's been a long time since he was in the league but come on, Matt Duchene still plays and his name is pronounced the same way.
Learn how to say their names correctly. Takes away from credibility. All you have to do is look up old highlights and hear the announcers say their names correctly.
A-@top6Hockey, if you're going to make a list like this and really want it viewed you need to put show the situations and cheap shots that occurred to make them a hated player. Your commentary is very good but there severely lacks the visual of the players making such offenses.
I can't believe Ott played over 900 NHL games. He also has over 1500 PIMs, which must rank very high among players who played exclusively post 1990s. He also had 46 points in a season where he played 64 games. That's very impressive. Not surprised he was drafted in the first round.
Ott was a super intense player. The prototype of the player everybody wants to play for their team, but never wants him to play against. He had an infinite amount of grit. He was fast, hit hard and never backed down from fights. I never saw a shift from that guy where he didn't put his entire energy into it. IMO while he did snap once in a while, I never considered him dirty, just a top tier enforcer in the good definition of the word! The vast majority of his hits were clean and textbook in their finish. He had great timing for hip checks, a lost art. I really liked that player.
@@TheFlamingPike Good take. I do disagree that he was an enforcer. He was an agitator, much like Tucker, Avery, J. Ruutu and Prust. Enforcers tend to be the heavyweights that use intimidation as a key factor, and rarely chip in with meaningful offense or otherwise positive play in any of the three zones.
It's really hard to believe Avery is on this list, he seems like one of the most upstanding people of all time lmfao. Probably the most hated player in the history of the NHL.
Actually, 2 games prior to the Claude/Draper hit Kozlov pushed Footes face into the glass causing 7 or so stitches. There was no penalty call. Later in that game, Claude tried to fight Kozlov but he wouldn't, so Claude sucker punched him. That game was the small spark that started the animosity between the 2 teams.
as much as I hate Boston and hate Marchand he is legitimately a GREAT player. Steve Yzerman was the player I hated because he always played the spoiler in playoff games against the Blues. Especially when he scored that lucky goal late in game 7 2nd overtime when he shot the puck from center ice, it his a chunk of ice rose up and over little Jon Casey and into the net. I can't tell you how many times Yzerman beat us with lucky goals over the years and ruined our best chance to go all the way that year. it SUCKED!!! I hated him for that loss.
Fleury may have been hated by the league, but certainly not the fans of the NHL. He's a real one who outed a lot of BS.

Mario Tremblay was well known for being hated by opponents while making his presence felt on the ice . Was also a good offensive contributor as well.

Dale Hunter and Raffi Torres not being on this list is a major miss. Then again you could probably make a few of these lists
Meh. The list has a very definite modern nhl bias. There were some really nasty players back in the day
lol stfu gramps. Listen to the kids voice that made this video, he clearly isn't older than 25 so of course there is going to be modern bias
Please make that video for us, so we can be reminded how hockey used to be 200 years ago 😅
I get where you’re coming from, like, how does Roy Worters not make anyone’s best goalies of all time list?
What about Eddie Shore, John Ferguson, Stan Mikita (before he suddenly got nice) or the whole Broadstreet Bullies group (let's leave Bernard Parent and Reggie Leach out of it, for obvious reasons)? I obviously didn't see any of these players play live but sometimes you just need to listen.
I swear I think these compilers think hockey was invented in 2008. Must just be hard to find older footage.

Put him on a finesse team, and he doesn't last 10 years
Agree! Is there a category that’s stronger than most hated? And the fact that they made him captain tells you everything about thr bruins.
How the hell was Sean Avery and Raffi Torres not mentioned once?
I'm pretty sure EVERYONE in the Stars organization hated Sean Avery.
Sean Avery was a MF. Hate that guy
Sean Avery is on this list
Vancouver should be Messier lol
By his team and the club lol!
As a Ranger fan, even I don't like the guy.
@@TheFlamingPikeI'd give him almost as much credit for Edmonton's cups as Grezkey
As a sens fan i knew it was going to be Chris Neil but damn we loved that guy.
100%
Messier was more hated in Vancouver than Todd.
I to this day can not stand Messier "celebrating" with the jumping up and down and smiling from ear to ear. I hated that.
I quit eating Lays chips because of that idiot.
Laus slipped my mind. I was thinking Worrell.
I think it should be Laus, he is remembered as a Panther.
Laus or Cousins; Cousins is making a strong push for the crown.
We didn't like him when he played for the North Stars. My father called him "pie face" lol

Thanks. I was half listening doing other stuff and remember thinking that sounded weird.
Absolutely - this video is straight garbage from a hockey knowledge perspective.

As a Pens fan, I noticed a lot of current/former penguins. Almost one third of the list, actually...
Marty McSorley (1983-1985)
Ulf Samuelsson (1990-1995)
Matthew Barnaby (1998-2001)
Darius Kasparaitis (1996-2002)
Matt Cooke (2008-2013)
Steve Downie (2014-2015)
Maxim Lapierre (2014-2015)
Ryan Reaves (2017-2018)
Jeff Carter (2021-2024)
FWIW Tuomo Ruutu’s older brother is former penguin Jarkko Ruutu (2006-2008)
And this is the real reason why a lot of fans hate the Penguins. It isn't jealousy over their success, but rather using the same players their organization and fans say are dirty players. Do they stop being dirty when they put on the black and gold?
yes, both good and memorable candidates.
Wow I never made that connection but it’s true. I just hate them because thats what we do in Detroit. 😂

Marty Lapointe?! Stevie was far nastier with the stick work. Why not Gilbert Delorme 😂

Made it as far as Ken Linseman, when you kept calling him Linesman, you lost me. Have some respect.
Crazy.

I think the thing that pops into my head as soon as I think of Stevens is the kariya hit to the head in the playoffs
Our pretty much ending Lindros' career... he was never the same after that hit

Sakic.")
As a runner up, and this might be recency bias, but Niklas Kronwall was always controversial for his hits.
0:31 ah yes Mario vlassic
As a Habs fan, I feel like most hated has to be Mike Ribeiro. He got Jose Theodore slipping in Mtl and was super cocky and a prolific diver (that one against the Bruins being super theatrical). Definition of bad attitude and now might be going away for sexual assault.
A video about specific incidents with no video of those specific incidents. Well done.
"Personally I don't think he was a dirty player" dude was one of the biggest headhunters in the league
Regarding Sean Avery, would have been nice to mention the fucking AVERY RULE.
Agree. Dude was a disgrace to the game as is anyone who would lick their opponents face.

For future lists like this I have a couple of suggestions-which you are obviously free to ignore; after all, it’s your channel and your content. Still, here me out:

Learn how to say their names correctly. Takes away from credibility. All you have to do is look up old highlights and hear the announcers say their names correctly.
RIP Chris Simon. I would’ve thought Dale Hunter was more hated. He definitely delivered the cheapest shot by a Capital ever.
Good decision by Carter to want out. He was a key player for the LA Kings in those Stanley Cup runs.
Phonetically, It’s NOT Kenny LINE-Zman. It’s Kenny LIN-Zman.
I hated him because he was too damn good. ,lol
Just a note, the Red Wings Avs rivalry actually started when Constantinov laid a dirty hit. Lemieux's hit only amplified it
lol no
@@ericksheldon3870 you clearly haven't watched the documentary involving Chris Draper and Claude Lemieux, have you
*Konstantinov
*Kris Draper
Actually, 2 games prior to the Claude/Draper hit Kozlov pushed Footes face into the glass causing 7 or so stitches. There was no penalty call. Later in that game, Claude tried to fight Kozlov but he wouldn't, so Claude sucker punched him. That game was the small spark that started the animosity between the 2 teams.
@@caddrafter48 that's what I meant, thank you for correcting me.
0:28 You said Marc-Edouard Vlasic and showed a picture of Mario Ferraro. Come on now.
Hate to pile on things here as the video is good overall, but you mention the NorthStars and show the Wild
He probably didn’t have a VCR. 😂
This list is crap.
as much as I hate Boston and hate Marchand he is legitimately a GREAT player.
The fact that Mark Messier isn’t the most hated for Vancouver is baffling
Great video!!!!
Ken Linseman over Esa Tikkanen? Did you steal this from bleacher report? Almost identical word for word on some players.
