I had never even heard of Tretinoin until I started watching TH-cam videos a few months ago. I have struggled with really really bad cystic acne for so many years, since I was just a teen. I could’ve prevented all that acne, and had such a better adolescence if I had known about Tret back then 😢. I’m 48 and I *still* have bad cystic acne if I don’t use Tret. I can’t believe I’m still trying to prevent acne at this age 😡. Since I’ve been using Tret, I’ve been talking about it, and recommending it to all my friends and family so much lol. I have been applying tretinoin .05 daily for a whole year now but recently my skin can't tolerate it at all for some reason as it burns so bad for days after even one time use. You need preservative whenever you include a water based ingredient, which neither of those two is). I use a bottle of grapeseed oil from the grocery store (grapeseed oil is lightweight, slightly astringent, non-allergenic, and it's good for oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skins due to its fatty acid profile) and Cromollieht SCE for the emollient (which helps the oil emulsify when rinsing, which makes it easier to wash off). I got a 1oz bottler from Garden of Wisdom for $4, and since I only use it at 5-10%, it lasts forever. You can get really precise with it and weigh it, but I go by volume and will just about a dropper full (my dropper is 1.5 ml) to an ounce of grapeseed oil. (5% is less than half the max recommended amount in a formula, so I feel comfortable with the margin of error for going by volume instead of weight). One 24oz bottle of grapeseed oil is about $9, so you can get 20 ounces of oil cleaner for $13, plus 4 oz of grapeseed oil left over. And it cleanses off easier than just oil or the oil blend in this video, so less mechanical damage.

There are tons of Korean and Japanese cleansing oils that are fragrance free and very affordable, such as Muji's cleansing oil. Its better than Hada Labo's because it can be used wet or dry, and it emulsifies and takes off even heavy makeup without being drying and doesn't sting eyes. The Hada Labo one is good too except its only supposed to be used while the skin isn't wet yet, or else it loses its ability to remove makeup.
I remove my makeup with coconut oil. I'm using Trentinoi 3 times a week now, building up to every night. The coconut oil seems to be very healing after a trentinoin night! After that I use a glycolic acid wash, Vit C in between & back to Trent. Seems to be working for now.
Omg I was so surprised when you mentioned Geek&Gorgeous, this is a Hungarian skin care brand which is pretty popular here in Hungary but I didn't know it was available wordwide?! I am so glad you know AND use it as well on the other side of the world, this is one of my fave brands of all time! It was so amazing hearing you talk about it 🥺
I have yet to try DHC brand cleaning oil and I don't know what it costs either on Amazon, but they have under eye patches that I adore. It's a Japanese company and I like the eye patches.
Kose Softymo speedy cleansing oil! Fragrance free, lightweight and comes in a 230 mL bottle. Plus you can order a “refill” packet instead of a whole new bottle. Also for whatever it’s worth, I bring down Tret all the way to my neck and under my eyes after I’ve moisturised and so far I’m tolerating it well! I think it just depends on the concentration of Tret.
I use and love Bioderma cleansing oil for face and body. It is a 33.8 FL. OZ bottle and has no fragrance. It cleanses well and feels soothing to me especially when I wash off my tretinoin cream in the mornings. I highly recommend it. You get a lot for $28.99. I use it every day for almost a year and I am almost done with it and need a new bottle.
I have been loving the Thrive Causemetics Power 10 Peptide Serum. I started seeing results fairly quickly, and am even happier after 8 weeks of nightly use. It is speedy, but worth it for me. The oil cleanser I love is the Omega+ Cleaning Balm by Paula’s Choice. To me, it combines the best of a balm and an oil. It’s a creamy oil- gentle, effective and easy to work into your face.
I love the Kose japanese cleansing oil. Affordable and no fragrance or oils that might make you break out. I've bought so many bottles and refills over the years.
You asked about oil cleansers, the one I've been loving is the Peach & Lily Ginger melt, it is amazing, removes everything and when you add a little water to it to rinse off, it just breaks down and doesn't leave any residue. Also fragrance free.
Just got a sample of the Ordinary Squalene cleanser and it’s actually not bad! No fragrances and I looked up the price and it’s under $10! Worth a shot!
For cleansing oils: I love Hado Labo, Purito From Green, and Dear Klairs Gentle Black Fresh (fragrance free). The Dear Klairs is more expensive and not as great for heavier makeup, I use it for my SPF & mascara removal (and just breaking up of excess sebum without stripping my skin). I don't wear any mascara that is difficult to remove, so I can't attest to the efficacy of waterproof/stubborn mascara. 😊

I swear by the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil. It's fragrance-free, emulsifies, and rinses cleanly. I still follow with a separate cleanser, but it takes everything off, I love it.
I've been using the Caudalie Vinoclean Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil and he Paula's Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm. I love both of them and they work well.

SAME GIRL! Tretinoin seriously changed my skin. My dermo prescribed it to me 6 months ago to help with this random texture I started to get on my cheek bones I had no idea it would improve my overall skin! Never going back lol. I didn’t hear if you mentioned the % tretinoin you use? Mine says .0025 on it and I did want to up the % to target one last dark spot I have.
Honestly if you're looking for simple and fragrance free makeup remover, i have used jojoba oil. Closest to skin sebum/oils, gentle and melts makeup off. You want to follow up with a second cleanse, of course. Definitely look for 100% jojoba. Not too hard to find but i love the jojoba carrier oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. 👍👍
Hada Labo Gokyjyun Cleansing Oil is great. Muji Sensitive Cleansing Oil & Kose Softymemo Speedy Cleansing Oil are also fragrance free and work well. Love Beauty of Joseon Cleansing Balm and I don't usually like Balms.
Muji mild cleansing oil & Hada Labo Cleansing Oil are both cost effective, fragrance free cleansing oils with minimalist ingredient lists. You can find Hada Labo in Asian grocers but yesstyle sells both. Also Neutrogena has a dual phase eye makeup remover that takes everything off in one swipe, you don't even needa cloth. It is also the only dual phase makeup remover l know of that doesn't have blue dye in it.
I absolutely love Jordan Samuel Skincare and his "the aftershow treatment cleanser". It gets off all the makeup and leaves my skin feeling lovely. I've been using it for several years.
Burt’s Bees has a great oil cleanser, (inexpensive) I also love dermatologica pre cleanse (indulgent) as an actual cleanser. they say it doesn’t clean completely and that you need a cleanser afterward, but I’m almost 70, and I don’t feel like I need a cleanser twice a day.
Fragrance/essential oil free cleansing oils that I've used and liked: -simple kind to skin oil cleanser -Dear Klairs gentle black fresh cleansing oil -Purito from green cleansing oil Also Beauty of Josean Radiance Cleansing (this is also polyethylene free, just in case you don't want plastic in your skincare)

Yay, when you pulled out that yellow Future Formula Agency bottle I got so excited! I’ve been using tret prescribed by Agency for ~4 months now and I’m obsessed! I also love that they start you out on a pretty low dose so you can actually use the formula daily or every other day rather than only a few times a week. I’ve also been getting my prescription for free (thank you Influenster!) but I think I’ll continue it once my free subscription is up. The dermatologist I’ve messaged through their website was also very helpful when I asked how much I should be using!
@@kittykraze2350 yes! You can fill out a profile and take photos of your bare face and send them into the derms at Agency and they will create a personalized plan for you!
@@kittykraze2350 Plus what's also really cool about Agency is that unlike a regular derm who will usually prescribe you with the standard minimum of .025% tret recommending usage every other night or just two nights a week, they will start you out with a really low dose like .009% so you'll be able to use it nightly without the major side effects of skin peeling/dehydration! And they compound it with other helpful skincare ingredients tailor-made to your skincare profile and needs, things like azelaic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, kojic acid, reservatrol, etc.
Love my tretinoin so much! I'm actually able to use it on my neck area with no irritation or issues. I got the blessing of my derm though. *Always check in with your dermatologist!* I do use it over top of light moisturizer. My neck and face have never looked better. Never want to be without my Tret! It's my first skin care love ❤
I too use my Tretinoin 0.05 on my neck. I know many people cannot tolerate it on the neck but I’ve never had a problem. I do use a light moisturizer first though.
I also love using the Neutrogena Body Oil as my 1st cleanser! I've been absolutely LOVING the Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum (Ginseng + Snail Mucin)💕 Highly recommend checking out that K-beauty brand🥰 (also congrats on 200k!!!)
I use the same body oil to remove makeup as well! I find the best way to gently get eye makeup off is to apply the oil to a DRY FACE with your finger tips and really work it into your eyelashes to break down the mascara first and then when you add water it will just melt right off! Then if there is any little reminence go in with your cloth when you get your face makeup off!😊

I am loving cetaphil advanced relief lotion with shea butter. It’s so good! If you like thick and super hydrating give this one a try! I use it for my face and body I love it so much. Way to go cetaphil!
I'm obsessed with the Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm from Sephora. It's by far the best cleansing balm I've ever used. Even better than the Farmacy's green cleansing balm and definitely better than the clinique cleansing balm (smells like tire fluid to me).
Has anyone that uses curology become suspicious if they are actually putting tretinoin in the formulation after a few bottles? I know you get used to it, but I don't use it on my neck cuz i cant handle it and was not using any retinol on my neck yet, I can put my new bottles of curology on my neck with no issue. I also have now got acne out of nowhere, never had an issue with acne, but curology is having no effect on it. Im on the highest amount they offer because my face skin is far from sensitive. I've had problems receiving the formula super chunky and another time it pilling up on itself with no addition of product and using very little cream (something it never did before or after those 2 particular bottles). Im not trying to hate on the brand or the product, im just wondering if anyone else has had an issue thinking their tretinoin is possibly being left out. Also I was only using their treatment and moisturizer on curology days.
Yes I was also suspicious of my tretinoin from Curolgy because 1) I opened the pump and it did not seem full at all 2) it caused a couple break outs on my face and 3) I feel like I’m just putting water on my face, no effect at all. I don’t even use it anymore. I miss my prescription Tretinoin. I’m going back to it for sure!

Thank you for the great and very informative video. Checked the ingredients on the Neutrogena oil. First ingredient is Isopropyl Myristate. It is a solvent to increase skin penetration. Don't see the need for a solvent to remove surface makeup. It also has propylparaben as a preservative. Love that it is fragrance free and wish all products could be purchased without "stink purty" as my uncle used to call it.
I use Japanese Bioré J-Beauty Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil. Even though it is oil but acts as it’s a cleanser. But you still need to wash with an actual cleanser after.
My Dr. prescribed me Tretinoin and it completely ruined my skin! I think the % was too high. 😢 One of these days I’m going to try it again but at a different level. I tried all of the tricks like putting a moisturizer under it etc. On another note - I ordered the needless serum and am so excited to try it out!
I'm not sure if it has fragrance or not because I used it last year, but the Bioré cleansing oil is amazing and takes everything off! I'll definitely repurchase it as soon as I'm done with the Caudalie cleansing oil (which I'm not crazy about).
Hadalabo, Sioris Fresh Moment Cleansing Oil & Dear Klairs. I've also tried Hanskin Pore Cleansing Oil - PHA, no artificial fragrance but does have plant extracts, however it never irritated my skin, gentle exfoliating & removed waterproof mascara. Love your videos!💖💖
Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what the difference was in Curology and Agency. And I would be really interested in hearing your final thoughts on the Agency product once you’ve used it for a while.
Loved the video! My bathroom is stocked with so many of your recommendations! Question: I read that mixing copper peptides and tretinoin deactivates the tret. Most product websites recommend not mixing the two as well because of deactivation. Have you read that as well and do you have any concerns using the needless serum with tret? I want to try the serum but I don’t want to chance deactivating my tret. Thanks Abbey!
No, it's the other way around-the Tret eats/degrades the copper peptides. I still use both by applying my serum w copper peptides, then a light lotion. Leave for 30 mins, then apply Tret, then a heavier moisturiser. Gives time for the copper peptides to sink in and the lotion acts as a barrier.
I haven’t tried it yet but I just ordered the plunking pyunkang yul cleansing oil which is fragrance and essential oil free with a minimal ingredients list and it’s 290 ml for less than $20 which is the best price I’ve seen for an emulsifying cleansing oil

i recommend the hadalabo cleansing oil! no fragrance and works very well. washes off completely too
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 trying
There are tons of Korean and Japanese cleansing oils that are fragrance free and very affordable, such as Muji's cleansing oil. Its better than Hada Labo's because it can be used wet or dry, and it emulsifies and takes off even heavy makeup without being drying and doesn't sting eyes. The Hada Labo one is good too except its only supposed to be used while the skin isn't wet yet, or else it loses its ability to remove makeup.
I have used DHC for years now!
I really like the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, it removes stubborn eye makeup and it's super affordable!
Hi I m from Malaysia. My PM routine> neutrogena cleanser, tretinoine then LaRochePosay Cica balm. Thanks a lot for your video, its really help❤️
I can recommend the speedy cleansing oil by the Japanese company Softymo. I'm using it for ~2 years now and it's amazing
It was so amazing hearing you talk about it 🥺
yes! a lot of people really like their vitamin c serum :)
I currently use adopalene as a retinoid. I have never used tretinoin. I would love to see a comparison of results.
I have yet to try DHC brand cleaning oil and I don't know what it costs either on Amazon, but they have under eye patches that I adore. It's a Japanese company and I like the eye patches.
in love with the non make up version of you, beautiful. thanks for the great videos.
I use the desert essence jojoba oil to remove my makeup at night. It works well on waterproof mascara, I get it at Trader Joe's or on amazon.
nivea sensitive cleansing oil!! there are no perfume nor essential oils, it's very cheap! i love it 😍
Kose Softymo speedy cleansing oil!
I love this cleansing oil. ❤️❤️❤️
Ponds cold cream is great to remove All makeup!!..And they make it fragrance free now
Your skin looks gorgeous
My newest night time skincare routine must have is the Aveeno Oat cleanser, I have post-accutane skin so any gentle cleanser is best
Nuxe Very rose oil. Best cleansing oil I've tried! Fragrance free, reasonable price and last a long time.
Congratulations 🎊 on 200k. See you in Chicago!
🥰 thank you!!!
ABBEY! Can't even tell how much you inspire me. Your rutine is simple and effective and your glow is amazing! ❤ Love you!
I'm team Hada Labo. Love it!!
Omg thank you!! Can’t wait to try
@@JLeigh75309 Right! I’m always experimenting with others, but I love that one the most (probably). The clean rinse off and how perfectly supple it leaves the skin is unbeatable!
@@AbbeyYung Thank you for all of your in-depth reviews and for pointing me in the direction of some of my all time faves! And for being one of my favorite informative people to refer my friends to! Totally fan-girling at having a response from my go-to favorite (how many times can I use that word in one comment?) TH-camrs, haha!
Also a big fan of Hada Labo and Dear Klairs, and Beauty of Joseon makes a cleansing balm that turns to oil instantly, great for travel
I've been using tretinoin for four years now. I can't live without it. Game changer.
lovely routine! My favorite fragrance free cleansing oils are hada labo's cleansing oil, purito's from green cleansing oil and if you like a balm, the beauty of joseon radiance cleansing balm is amazing!
DHC facial cleansing oil is one. It is somewhat expensive, but it lasts a long time, and it is fragrance free.
Geek & Gorgeous is the BEST!! I love their jelly cleanser, stress less serum, and a-pad! ❤️ Stress less has been a lifesaver for my skin on tret.
I'm feeling incredibly validated by the fact that you have the SAME exact PM skincare routine as me literally down to the same products. Drmtlgy is so incredible
Love your videos and appreciate you sharing your night time routine. Don't forget to swipe your products over the upper lip area, future Abbey will thank you!
I’m using the isntree cleansing water and it works great. Super affordable.
I’d love to see more skincare routines!
SAME GIRL! Tretinoin seriously changed my skin. My dermo prescribed it to me 6 months ago to help with this random texture I started to get on my cheek bones I had no idea it would improve my overall skin! Never going back lol. I didn’t hear if you mentioned the % tretinoin you use? Mine says .0025 on it and I did want to up the % to target one last dark spot I have.
congratulations 🎉 on 200,000 subs!!!! luv ur channel.
The Make Beauty PreCleanse Fluid is fragrance and eo free and it’s not terribly expensive at $28/3.8oz!
Loved this video. You’re a cutie!! Just started Tret last night! Can’t wait!!
Fragrance/essential oil free cleansing oils that I've used and liked:
-simple kind to skin oil cleanser
-Dear Klairs gentle black fresh cleansing oil
-Purito from green cleansing oil
Also Beauty of Josean Radiance Cleansing (this is also polyethylene free, just in case you don't want plastic in your skincare)
Is the simple kind to skin still available, I’ve have a hard time finding it lately.
@@brandi1294 I think so, although I couldn't get the oil cleanser for about a year - but recently it's been available in my local department store (Farmers department store in NZ)
I actually really love the ordinary squalene cleanser. Most of the time I’ll just use rosehip seed oil or one of those to slip the makeup right off and wipe it off then just wash with cereve
Clinique….Take The Day Off. Lasts a long time. Apply dry…..then add water and rinse. It emulsifiers it.
Just brought the BYBI milk melt and LOVE IT!!! Heads up it on clearance for 50% off at Target😍
Simple makes a hydrating oil cleanser that is fragrance free. It only costs £2 in the UK and it's my HG oil cleanser.
So you can start tretinoin without visiting an in person dermatologist?
@@chronicallybriana thank you so much girl!
I use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup. I use the neutrogena to mix with my body lotion.
No way…. Maybe I will test it out 😅
I too use my Tretinoin 0.05 on my neck.
Then if there is any little reminence go in with your cloth when you get your face makeup off!😊
Beautiful skin. Great video! Love your no make up look!
🌙🌙🌙 Bas
05:30 on
12:18 I will try this as eye cream
If you're looking to try more black owned brands, Urban Hydration at Ulta has good cleansing oils!❤️
The Kose softymo cleansing oil is my favorite! Affordable, fragrance and essential oil free and you can buy it on Amazon
Thank you for the Tretinoin push I needed! I just signed up with agency and made sure to list that I got the info from your TH-cam! ♥️
Hey! Would you consider this Tretinoin from the agency your favourite one you’ve used? I’m wanting to start my retinol journey but not sure who to go to. Love your videos! Xx
Just signed up for agency skincare to get tretinoin! Thank you!!! Love your recommendations!
Love hada labo. Love everything they make. They use several hyaluronic acids in their products.
Your skincare and skincare product knowledge (hair too!) is more extensive and thorough than some estheticians that I know. Impressive and more so that I know you do your own research and reading! I sometimes wonder why you're not in that field as you seem to know and truly care about it and skin care. Thanks for all the wonderful content. Hope you're enjoying your new adventures and place. Happy Holidays Abbey!
What was the % and how old are you? Now I’m scared I’m 24 🥺
Highly recommend the Juno cleansing oil balm 💕
Curel cleansing oil. Absolutely amazing. Fragrance free and for sensitive skin. Amazon for $11.50.
Team Hada Labo cleansing oil. I buy refills from Amazon, Yesstyle.
I'm not sure if it has fragrance or not because I used it last year, but the Bioré cleansing oil is amazing and takes everything off! I'll definitely repurchase it as soon as I'm done with the Caudalie cleansing oil (which I'm not crazy about).
Purito and Paula's Choice cleansing oils work really well and are fragrance free :)
Have you ever tried DHC cleansing oil? I love love love that one!
Agree. This one is my absolute favorite cleansing oil
Hadolabo has a great cleansing oil! I love it.
My derm told me to use jojoba oil to remove makeup. I love it!!!! The cliganic one from Amazon specifically. Holy grail for me!
Do you find this removes spf? Rinses clean? Can you post a pic of the exact 1 you use?
Hadalabo, Sioris Fresh Moment Cleansing Oil & Dear Klairs.
I've also tried Hanskin Pore Cleansing Oil - PHA, no artificial fragrance but does have plant extracts, however it never irritated my skin, gentle exfoliating & removed waterproof mascara. Love your videos!💖💖
Hey Abbey! Love this routine! I finally found a great fragrance free oil makeup remover from Curel! Great price too!
Shout out to Dr Dray for introducing us all to Neutrogena Body Oil for a makeup / sunscreen remover…
I haven’t tried it yet but I just ordered the plunking pyunkang yul cleansing oil which is fragrance and essential oil free with a minimal ingredients list and it’s 290 ml for less than $20 which is the best price I’ve seen for an emulsifying cleansing oil
