It actually made me feel pretty bad for Maze. Imagine dedicating years of your life to finding a sword that would in fact help you free yourself from Jack, but you're not considered worthy. I know I would be devastated and feel terrible about myself. Maze is a man that lost hope on himself and on the world. Definitely an underrated character.
y'know, I love these lore videos. I don't think a lot of folks cover fable lore like this because it would be hard to stretch these topics into 10 minute videos and I appreciate that you don't try to.

The Maze boss battle in Hook Coast was awesome. Best one in the game along with the Jack battle in Chamber of Fate. My characters Will spells were pretty leveled up, and because Maze was a powerful Will user himself I decided to mostly use magic to fight him. Bolts of lightning and fire rained over the Hook Coast map, a lot of potions were used, a lot of scars were received, untill finally I defeated him with a fully charged fireball. :)
Maze was just in a difficult spot. He feared Jack of Blades, and wanted to escape his slavery. I guess Maze felt like his chances of escape were really over when the Hero of Oakvale was imprisoned by Jack at Bargate Prison, little did he know.
Maze is deffinitely my favourite character from Fable, I can only imagine how hard and tough his life was and how awful it must have been serving Jack against his will. What I like about Maze though is that for most of his life he never gave up on freeing himself from Jack's grip, from ammasing incredible power of his own to researching ways to subvert Jack through his friendship with the Archaeologist as well as locating weapons that could destroy him that he unfortunately could not wield himself. Then along came the Hero of Oakvale who presented an new opportunity fro Maze's freedom from Jack, the son of an arena champion could become powerful enough to help him fight Jack, he even helps nurture his development as a hero as well as reuniting him with his sister. Unfortunetely, when the Hero gets imprisoned in Bargate, Maze losses all hope at this point. If the Hero is weak enough to get captured by Jack then he clearly isn't strong enough to oppse him, even with Maze's help. It's at this point Maze just gives in to Jack completely, if only Maze had sided with the Hero when he broke free from prison could Maze have had an opportunity to free himself from Jack and stop him from acquiring the key to the Sword of Aeons. His story is really tragic, for all his incredible Will as well as his hope for freedom that made him a great Hero, the moment he gave up that hope and lost his will to oppose Jack was when he doomed himself to death, by the hands of someone he had once placed his hopes into. One thing though that really sells me on Maze being a true Hero is his mastery of the Physical Shield spell. It can only be mastered by Will users of pure good and Maze, unlike the other Heroes like thunder and briar rose was never concerend with personal renown or achievement, everything he did was for the betterement of others and his own freedom.
I had NO idea that Maze was a part of the raid on Oakvale! I thought it was Jack that gathered and ordered the bandits - NOT Maze!!! Wow... This is just crazy!!

So far you've been making videos on the Lore of Fable based on information available in-game and (I believe) in some other media. However, how would you feel about making theory videos? There are many things that go unexplained in-game and it would be really nice to hear your view on what you think might have happened. Of course, most of this would be just speculation (based on canon content), but I think it's nice to go further and theorize a little bit as well. Maybe you could do that as a separate series from your "Lore behind" series? Anyway, keep up the great work. Looking forward to more videos!
That's a pretty good idea! I do feel like I know quite a bit about the world with doing all of this research. At the moment, I don't think I have the time to work on another series (I have the lore behind Fable, the lore behind Half-Life and I'm also working on a large timeline of Bioshock). What I have been thinking about is a livestream playthrough of Fable where I can talk about things that I've learned while playing but I'm unsure on whether that is something people would like to see. I've played Fable 1 countless times so I know that one pretty well, but it'd be fun to watch it with your commentary. I never got the chance to play Fable 2. I did play Fable 3 a couple of times but that was about it. So I would surely like to see your playthroughs of all 3 games along with your comments! It’s a shame Maze never had his story told in a cutscene through his mural. It exists in the Chamber of Fate, but it was unfortunately never used.
