    That 2nd ACL injury killed his superstar potential. Some players can recover to an ACL injury especially if they're young but 2 ACL tear within 2 years? That's tough.

      That's when Parker should just grab the dollars while in the NBA still and get out while he is still healthy. 2021 he signed with Celtics for $2.28m which is around the vets min and he is playing garbage time . Some athletes its just not meant to be

      Man back in the day we were so hyped for Parker over on the Bucks subreddit. He was going to be our franchise player with Giannis being our super out there project. Prior to his second ACL tear, we thought he was going to be a potential All-Star in the Eastern Conference too.

    It doesn’t really seem tragic to me - it’s more of a story of a man who dealt with some professional hardship who persevered to having an extended NBA career and being a solid veteran contributor

    One upon a time I was excited for Jabari parker and he was one of my favorite young players in the league. It's unfortunate he could never find a stable home. He seems like a good guy with a positive attitude. I'm a Hawks fan so when we had Jabari I was rooting for him even more but sadly we had alot of forwards at the time sadly. I hope he can carve out a stable role in the league

    Actually in the 2014 NBA Draft Joel Embiid is the consensus number 1 pick because Andrew Wiggins played poorly in Kansas but his foot injury before the draft lowered his draft stock.

      I'd argue it's not just because of his injuries, granted no one can live up to the hype of being the next lebron.
      Still, he can't stay in shape considering he already is not that athletic to make up for his lack of threes. He also has below average to bad defense. And he plays bully ball in an era of threes, space and pace.

      @@calebdouglas7622 same thing with Brandon Roy with his shot knees. Parker and roy are largely built need and to maintain a strict diet to keep up with the speed of the game. Unfortunately Roy and Parker did not have the best rehab/conditioning and core strengthening post surgery. This gonna happen to Zion as well

    This guy was playing next to Giannis in his early bucks days and he was the one standing out before his injury. That speaks volume about his potential and he really was showing that, very explosive player really hard to close him down. Unfortunately be hardly had time to show more. His career for the most part was been spent recovering from injuries.

    Honestly I remember keeping up with his high school career. Used him as a role model for my son who was 12 at the time of the sports illustrated story. He always came across as a humble young man. From what I've seen he continues to do so. Wouldn't call his NBA journey tragic though. Hopefully he has saved and invested wisely.. and he's still playing the game that he obviously loves. Seems more like a win win to me

      For real. I remember many people projecting that it was going to be one of the best draft class in NBA history. I thought Dante Exum was going to be the future of the NBA at the PG position. I still remember all the Adidas commercial with him. At least Wiggins, Embiid, Randle, and Zach Lavine panned out.

    I live in Chicago and everyone back in 2012 was so excited for Parker to dominate the NBA like the other hometown heroes like Derrick Rose and Anthony Davis. It’s sad to see his his career turned out but I believe he can still have a long career as a role player in the NBA. 🙏

    Greg Oden's story is definitely more tragic! 82 games in five years before being forced into retirement due to chronic injuries. Parker had a few years of averaging points in the teens, improved his efficiency, signed some decent deals, but is now a bench warmer. He has had a lot of set-backs and has not lived up to expectations, but he's still in his late 20's and contributing on a playoff team.

    I really believed that him and Giannis would be the next big 1-2 punch duo in the league! Parker had so much potential but injuries obviously derailed his career! Such a shame, but hopefully he can turn things around, he's still young.

    I once saw Parker in the ice cream aisle at a supermarket and after noticing my young son's Bucks hat he came over and gave him a high-five. That was pretty cool of him.

    I remember watching him smack my high school (Stevenson feat sophomore Jalen Brunson) in the state championship. Then he went on to dominate at Duke and had such high hopes. Such a shame the injuries and others ruined his career.

    NBA is about opportunity. His weaknesses are similar to Kuz. Defensive rating the same game is similar. He’s prob a better athlete and has a better overall game. Kuz is about to get 150mill.

    i started to watch nba when the pandemic hit. never even heard of this guy before.. rly sad story, he seems to be a good guy.. but even if that was all for him and he retires next year, dude made more money already with sth he loves then 99% of us will ever see.. and he will keep his head up as he seems to have a good character. so not that much tragic if you ask me.
