Cmon Russ we all double or triple dip our favorites. We gots to. I could go on and on with my examples. I have 3 difference 4k releases of Blade Runner.
All of my titles are in alphabetical order regardless of boutique and type. Russ has his separated by type/boutique but alphabetical within the groupings. I'm not sure how anyone can find anything if it's not in alphabetical, especially if it's a large collection.
Love seeing this! I have lost count of the amount of 4K discs I own, but it’s more than 200… still, it’s clear you guys go for quality as you should! Haha. I have purged a lot of things because there was no need to keep buying and keeping things I didn’t actually like or only watched once, because that happens at times. Also, you showed exactly why I never got that Batman steelbook set. lol. If I can actually figure out how many discs I have I’ll reply to this comment!
28:55 of course I made it to the end, you guys are fantastic and hilarious. Great editing to whomever has done these videos for you, big things for you guys in 2024 and beyond!! One thing I’m surprised is you didn’t really have a lot of Pixar 4K titles
Everything you see on this channel is done by Russ and I...no outside help yet! Maybe one day if we have the means, but only with the intent of getting more content out. Thanks for watching the whole video, and you are right, Disney 4K is not really represented here.
12:30 IAWL is one I have owned on all formats, and just got 4k this past Christmas. wife and I loveeee this movie, staple in my childhood on TV with mom. Wife and I watched it during Christmas 2020 in Cinema while travelling to Miami
8:25 I still haven’t seen this movie, but you guys really sold it to me and thanks for the reminder… It’s at Walmart for 30 bucks slipcover 4K so now might be the time
Solid collections guys!! I'd love to make a similar video with my 4K collection but if it takes 30mins to go over 200 movies, it would take me 6hrs! Hahaha
That was a fun ride gentlemen. Russ, knowing you keep a critical eye towards remakes and adaptations, I wouldn’t have guessed you’d be a fan of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
I had to read it in high school and the teacher showed us the film in class (it had just come out around the same time)... it's been some time since reading the novel, but I remember it being incredibly faithful. I'm a big fan of the story and themes within it, to say it's timeless is an understatement. We're dealing with the same morality and ethics questions with AI today that Shelley wrote about in the 1800s... Love it.
@@russceasetheruss5360 Excellent point about the continued relevance of the story - AI is a perfect example. Branagh’s version was definitely faithful but felt lengthy and ultimately seemed to fall a little flat. Props to your HS teacher for showing that with some of its gorier scenes.
@rubinj321 Completely agree about it's flaws which is why it had no way in hell of being a commercial hit, but being so intrigued by the themes at that age, I ate it up. Also as a kid who was into movies, it being horror and having Deniro (who I already held in high regard) also helped, I'm sure... I don't even remember the teacher's name but I definitely do give them props (and Branagh for going for it, ultimately to the film's mainstream detriment). EDIT: I do remember the entire class giving almost unanimously no fucks about the movie lol.
4:40 I might have to get the casino, Royale, steel book, I own the rest of the DanIel Craig collection on Blu-ray but no need to update all to 4k. just C.R
17:55 platoon was actually a blind by, the only thing I knew about that movie was what I learned from the NES video game as a kid lol Some of the outdoor scenes looked OK, but very very few and far between, but I think it’s gritty from the source
It will forever blow my mind that there was an NES game for Platoon, even as a kid I knew it was odd... Plus, I always preferred the Sega Genesis Born on the 4th of July and it's Sonic-speed wheelchair levels (I could never beat Willem Dafoe).
2:45 nice batman 4k! I just picked up the dark Knight trilogy box set, which I’m still waiting to find a good time to run through all in one weekend hopefully… But that original steel book collection looks awesome. Matt, Batman forever is one of my favorite. How about you?
I watched Forever recently, and enjoyed it more than I did previously. Where does it rank for you amongst the original 4, or are you including the Nolan films and recent Pattinson version?
@@4K_Kings top for all batman movies tbh. as a kid I had made scrap books with all the characters from everything I could find, pogs, tv guide, cinema magaznines, cereal box photos, trading cards, etc it was the second movie I saw in theatres, the first being Power Rangers Movie.
That's a nice collection but I would have preferred something similar to the video you made about your Criterion collection. This video feels like a list, it's frustrating because what's interesting is why you bought those movies and why you like/love them. That said, once again, fantastic work on the presentation as always.
Thanks, and we hear you. With a list this big we were going for a breezier pace so the video didn't end up to be 2 hours long. We tried to elaborate on some, but it was a monster of a video to begin with. If there are any titles you want to hear full reviews on, let us know!
Just bought Possesor and Shivers on 4k, never seen so looking forward to it. Also bought Shape Of Water on 4k, I thought was excellent and beautifuly shot.
Shivers is really fun... If you've seen Slither by James Gunn, that feels like an updated version of Shivers. I love it and you really can't go wrong with Cronenberg... I completely agree on Shape of Water, the only reason I've never picked it up is because like Del Toro's other movies, I feel it's going to get an eventual Criterion release.
"The only 4K title I own but haven't seen, Perdita Durango" said moments after revealing that he owns but has never seen "The Nightmare Before Christmas"... I'm confused. And, watch The Nightmare Before Christmas already, you fiend! It's great!
6:48 I’m still waiting for your review on those Russ! I think you did a video on your other channel, but it was not really a full review? I might be wrong on that.
@@russceasetheruss5360 video quality and thoughts on both movies? I'd really love to see it. I popped Demons into my 4k player and couldnt get too far before turned it off. it's still so scary to me! I shouldnt even be watching Demon stuff but alas.
It was a blind buy for me (Matt) and it's an excellent thriller with everyone involved giving their A game. I'm not a DePalma aficionado like Russ, but this is definitely top tier.
7:50 eternal sunshine, was pretty gritty from the source, I think… Not the best looking 4K, I only saw it twice once in my childhood, and once in my adult on 4K. I also have the Kino Lorber version, I might have to revisit it again this year.
Never upgraded the blu... it's one of those I always wait on a "perfect" edition because it's such a high profile title that gets re-released often (by "perfect" I mean packaging, not that there's a subpar transfer out there or anything). And with Child's Play, I enjoy the series and am crossing my fingers for an eventual 4K set.
I love the first one, and this one was a blind buy. I don't know if it had to do with the length at the time, but I've just never set down to watch it. So Ive stalled a little bit...
Star Wars is a great trilogy, and as a series has inspired a lot, but it's a little inconsistent for me across all three films. LotR has a great opening, middle, and finale, with a consistent tone, production value, and storytelling. Of course this is just my opinion and I don't fault anyone for liking the OG SW trilogy more.
