Warning: Mine were overtightened by tire shop. Broke a stud taking off lug bolt. Vice grips didn't work. This drill & extractor method didn't work at all. Was WAY TOO stuck in there. Took me many days of f^*(&$ with the damn thing and many drill bits ruined. Finally drilled it out close to edge and tried to retap the threads - new Lug would not grip in weak threads - had to replace the whole hub - total PITA. Just know - this video show best case scenario.
thankz very much, glad of your sharing. Bothered by the trouble it caused for u. Cunéydian win-er and year round sukz fur most part here, haVoc- dealing
How do i do this? I have a very similar setup as in the video but 4lug but want to do the conversion your talking about so this issue doesn’t happen to me again
Good vid! Always remember to use a ball peen hammer, not a regular construction hammer, when hammering steel on steel. The hammer could crack and expel a sharp chunk at your eye. Also, I always use a small 1/8th inch drill to make a pilot hole, you only get one chance! Then I follow up with my left handed, larger (5/32) drill bit. Sometimes the bolt has come out within seconds as I was drilling the larger hole and didn’t even need to use the extractor!

This is where knowledge is valuable!
Also a set of heli-coils! Drill oversize, Tap for helicoil, insert and new thread 😊👍🏼
One might wonder if the piece of bolt was that easy to unscrew by hand, why in the he** would it have been broken off in the first place?
You should do the stud conversion

It would still break lol no added benefit to adding lug studs instead of lug bolts
@@bkfingerbandit198there is most definitely a benefit to true lugs you tool lol

Yea, i used a cheap Torque Wrench. Looks just like yours, it broke and i overtightened everything
excellent video
I have it bad it’s completely seized with the rim on
great video
Mine broke off before the retainer that holds the rim in place.
& how long did it take for you to drill a hole because I barely gotten a centimeter in the bolt using my dewalt
Sorry for the late reply, yes it took forever
@@StarSedzAuto forever like 2 hours or like all day ?
@@lonsavage7953 An hour and a ruined drill bit. Make sure you're using a bit made for metal.
Will this work on my audi?
Yes
Good job removing that.
Incredibly stupid design by BMW. VW has them too. Just a bad bad idea.
Stay gold.
