There is some magic in your videos! It's not just your incredible skills, not just the teamwork - you and your dad; you have extremely good skills as a director and editor, in my opinion, judging by how glued to the screen I was and how much pleasure it gave me to watch this. You are very special person. I wish you and your dad the best in building this dream cabin. 👍
Single widow in my sixties loved it my husband of nearly 40 yrs was a carpenter but not like this, he was single family home builder and built2 of our homes. This reminded me of him and I truly enjoyed this ! God bless you both!!!!
I have watched this entire video twice, all the way through....and am starting it for a 3rd time this morning! Your vids motivate me and want to share every moment of my projects with my daughters, but they are both too far gone to the electronic age. I am almost 60, but if I lived nearby, I would jump right in there and lend a hand with whatever you needed. I see you lift and carry and drop into position, and it reminds me of my youth when I was full of myself and could do anything. Now... hips, knees, wrists and ankles, covered with surgery scars and riddled with arthritis, keep me from doing only the least strenuous work possible, but watching you go at it, makes me feel like I could do anything again....thank you.
Your logs make musical sounds when you clunk them.. I am a 72 year old woman and I just love your videos. You are so competent in every thing you and your dad do. Your parent did a wonderful job raising you. God bless you all.
@@senioroutsider2975 : 🇬🇧 I'm 81 and as equally enthralled by your activities as Jeanne and agree with her complements. We had our first frost last night and I always think of Canada as colder than UK. It was much colder on the top, open deck when we toured the 1000 Islands in late October 15 years ago. Wishing you the best of luck with the weather and getting the roof on. All my fingers are crossed. 👍👍 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Very impressive gentleman , the brut strength, balance , temperament , Precision , the all encompassing fortitude to make your dream come reality . The sense of accomplishment should be profound . So happy for you both , you win big getting away from the craziness and finding peace and tranquillity in the most beautiful way . Nothing good comes easy and it took hard work to obtain it .
Enjoyed every minute of this video. As my father has gone to heaven, seeing you work with your Dad reminds me when my father and I worked on projects together. God bless!
Congratulations on that milestone. You and your Dad should be proud. Your skill and determination are truly inspiring. Once covered, that loft will be the perfect shelter for winter camping.
I am 72 year too & just love to watch this young man and his dad tirelessly building this project with high spirit .....we can call them a Father & Son Tag-Team indeed .....!
My dad and I didn't get on, shared no interests, were not friends and had didn't aims in life. It is lovely for me to see you have such a good relationship with your dad. Keep enjoying that time together. Oh and by the way the cabin is beautiful but the relationship is beautiful and amazing.
@@speedstick77 It is a sad comment. I hope that the others can say it has made me a better dad. I work hard at listening, loving and being there. I try not to judge and will do my best to be dad for the rest of my life.
Reminds me of working with my dad on carpentry projects........it would've been great to be able to build a house together with him, but I moved 1000 miles away. He lives on through me in the carpentry work I do in rehabbing houses. Saves a lot of money and not having to deal with shady contractors.
You and your Dad are doing such an incredible job. It’s so much fun watching each stage of the build. I’d love a wrap around porch and an old fashioned stone fireplace. I’m sure the fireplace would be a huge pain and less ease than a wood burning stove. Armchair designer here 🤣🤣🤣 The possibilities are endless. God bless 🤍
My name is Saif I am from Pakistan 🇵🇰 it's great work you guys both father and son and other worker did so much effort build new house 🏡 although it was not an easy task but you did it God bless you all .
It was truly is great watching you guys work together in this video and figuring things out as you go along, without any on camera disagreements and without any obvious busted flesh and bones. I'm 74 in a few days and when I started on construction back in the late 1950s, there were few machines, cranes and such like, except on the largest of construction sites. Everything was done by manpower and ingenuity, plus a good helping of traditional ways of working, and one thing that comes to mind is a lofting pole, using 2/1 or even 3/2/1 blocks and ropes for lifting heavy weight beams and such like into difficult places. The lofting pole was set loosley into a hole in the ground, sometimes in a retaining box to stop the bottom skipping out, and the pole could be raised or lowered and moved from side to side by single blocks and ropes that could be secured when the top of the pole was in the right place. This lofting pole was usually longer than the intended high point of the structure, but not always, and the lifting block and tackle was fixed to the top and puled by manpower from the bottom or an adjacent area. The 3/2/1 gearing ratios said that very large loads could be handled easily by manpower, and once a load was lifted, the top of the pole could swing from side to side, or be lowered and raised, by using the block and tackle rope guy lines. There were many variations on this, and similar setups were in use right into the 70s/80s for some trades, so I guess that there are probably people still using the system today. Yes, I know that it is too late to tell you now, and anyway, you managed very well without this pole, and it was great to see you finding your way through difficult heavy lifting situations and coming up with your own ideas and solutions. That's what I truly enjoy enjoy in seeing you and your dad work together. He doesn't try to take over and he lets you have your head when you want to make your own choices, and yet he is there to lend a hand when you need support or extra muscle. My father died when I was 13, so for many later projects I struggled to find my way alone, and I'm not sure that he would have been of the same temperment as your father anyway. But...and this is a truly big but... where there is a dream of what this father of my formative years could have been like later still being enacted and constantly updated in my now aging heead, then please pass on my best regards to your father and let him know that as I see it, he is a wonderful example of how fathers can behave when working with their sons.
You have come so far in a very short time,It feels like forever for you I,m sure. The cabin is starting to reveal the promise of hard work&team work, all the best to you and your family!!!Blessings
I watched this a few days ago and then I went back and started at the beginning. I’ve sent the videos to both my sons we do hope to have a piece of land one day that I can leave to my children. You are blessed in so many ways. May the peace of the lord always be with you.
Who else held their breath at several points? Anyone else jump up for joy when the last ridgepole was set? Amazing balance, and man oh man when that slow motion shot came . . . Best video ever! Love to your Dad and much admiration to both for your wonderful skills. Love to your wife and we continue to pray for her health as well as both of you Outsiders.
Love the relationship you have with your dad! Although my dad and I don't live near each other, we do share several interests. Reading and woodworking are among them. I started making furniture about 5 years ago, and my dad was amazed. We have swapped tips, and chased my mom away from what she thinks of as 'scrap'! LOL Dad never thought he would be passing his skills to his daughter! He's 82 now and can do the work himself anymore. But he gets a kick out of seeing the pictures I send him. I am so glad that you and your dad have this time together. You are doing an amazing job on the cabin! I look forward to your videos and seeing the progress.
You Sir, are a remarkable young man, an absolute credit to your father. As for him, make him CEO straight away. What an inituative work partner. Well seasons come, I guess another few months of cabin fever before the capping off. You're wife's reward is nigh. We head for a blistering summer, whilst you suffer the the elements. Am still amazed at the tolerances. you work to. Good fortune to you and yours.
The two of you are so inspiring and work together with so much respect and genuine love of the project and each other, your mother had fine men in her life. Congratulations on coming so far, it has been a lot of hard work, time and set backs but yet you've endured, yep, fine men.
WOWOWOW I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire video. What a remarkable team you father and son make. Thank you for documenting the entire build so far. I’m looking forward to seeing the next stage. Watching you both make me wish my Dad was still alive and we could build a cabin too. Xxx
Thank you Jesus that you kept our friends safe through this part of the build!!! You as usual dear Lord are faithful!! Loved this so much - amazing accomplishment of which neither of you or us will forget!!
Aw thanks Condee. Although the emotion of the moment may not have been expressed on my face, words couldn't describe how good it felt to put the last two nails into the ridgepole.

Nothing better than to see a father and son .. working so well together.. My gosh what an amazing video!! The filmmaking is great and well worth the wait ... I think you will get 2 million views.. the cabin is going to stand for 2 hundred years at least., Just incredible.

I don’t even know what to say to this episode because it truly speaks for itself. From the time I stumbled upon your video where you were burning up drills in the foundation boulders, to now, all I can think to say is wow! God bless you, Senior Outsider and your family. Thank you for sharing your journey so carefully and beautifully.
Wow, those autumn colours go amazing with your cabin! Lovin the video, I'm glad you and your dad could build this together! Such a blessing! God bless!

I have only have 3 channels with the bell notification, Red Poppy Ranch, Rescue and Restore and you and all three of you just do a great job in story telling or editing which just wants to make you watch more. Thank you!
I am just so impressed with the attention to detail. Using the "old" methods requires skill and time. That cabin will strong and last 100 years or more. Very well done and a pleasure to watch.
Getting such a large ridge beam installed with only 2 people is a huge accomplishment. Definitely something for you and your Dad to be proud of. With the frosty cold nights we have had lately it seems like the snow might not be too far away. Hopefully it’s a while before any snow arrives and even longer before any sticks around.
So awesome that your building the cabin with your dad. What a legacy your children's children can say my a great grandfather and my grandfather built this cabin! Wow so cool!
Really like the Show, I am amazed at the shear calculated brute strength that goes into your project. Also, I Pray for you and your Dad's safety as well.
Congratulations. That was excellent! I'm glad you put out the ridgepole installation in this format. It put the climax of the main build in perspective, a perspective you couldn't have achieved a 20-minute ridgepole-lift video. The cabin looks amazing. My hat's off to you and Senior. Well done! Until next time, my friend.
Unbelievable how much work is done. It is nice to see how father and son are working together i think every father wishes he had a son like you. Nice greetings from Germany. And keep on going.👍
Been following since the beginning. Through long stretches with no building due to family issues and "life" getting in the way, it's nice to see work continuing on the cabin. Congrats on reaching the milestone of laying the ridge pole!
The forest is now smiling and happy to see all their fallen family members being re-imagined, re-purposed and reborn right before their eyes and ears. The friendly forest loves their fallen brothers and sisters and will always bathe them in colorful gentle blankets of leaves. The forest is alive and listening.
Brilliantly filmed, narrated and well worth watching you and your father working together. I have to say, after 6 years without my dad, I teared up a few times during this remembering us building my first house together. Thanks for making this a full length video. I enjoyed every minute of it.
What you fellas need is a couple more of you. Safety Third! I have enjoyed this build immensely but have been concerned that one or both of you would be injured and no help is at hand. Thank you for sharing your project!
Oh my gosh, the best video yet. I am so proud of you both. You are a master with that chainsaw. Your notches look like someone has sanded them down. The precision of your work is something to be proud of. Your brainpower in figuring out the best way to proceed is a blessing to you and your father. You have learned and been taught well and been blessed with a wonderful calculating brain. May you do great things with these skills. Looking forward to your next fideo.
Wow what an episode. It just about whipped me. Every time you grabbed a log i grunted right with you and i am plumb wore out. Great job on this and i loved every minute.
I have never seen such skill with a chain saw like you and your father have. It is amazing. I have enjoyed seeing you cabin come together. Thank you for letting us follow along.
Bravo! Amazing to watch your ingenuity overcome the challenges. This is such a satisfying experience to watch your accomplishments. Am anticipating watching how and what you do for the roof. My hat is off to you both. Well done!
Wow That is all I can think of to say Have been watching for a couple of years now I wish you luck in covering in before snow and many many years of enjoyment of this cabin in the woods All the best from Ontario Canada
Wow amazing progress, I can honestly say I’m stunned and very impressed with what you have accomplished. I’m suffering from skills and cabin envy. 😆 Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone, I so excited for you and your family.❤️👍✌️
What a great job with those saws both of you. I really enjoy your videos. You and your Dad are a great team. It is a blessing to see a father son team working respectfully together. The Lord Jesus will bless you in many ways for honoring your good father
What an awesome build. Fom start to finish, thankfully you had a tractor and sawmill. Everything else was man power. Really enjoyed your rigging skills and sharing your knowledge on hewing out the notches on each log. Seemed everything fit perfectly tight.
Like many Canadians, I guess, I pride myself on my ingenuity. While I might have different ideas on design or construction, I appreciated your problem-solving solutions that kept you guys moving forward. Looking forward to the next episode.
Very impressive editing. You’re getting very very good at short film making. Add that to the 4 dozen other things you’re very very good at. You are a gifted young man. Thanks for the hours of entertainment. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Awesomer, lot of patience and lot of time to do everything. Beautiful woodwork and logs . Hope all things to be done . Good Luck. Winter is coming. More time work during snow . Thank you for your sharing on TH-cam . Danny
Watching you put those gin poles up reminds me of me, except you came away unscathed. I built a huge timber frame pretty much alone on my channel until I took a trip through my open stairwell hole while taking a gin pole down. Shattered my right ankle to pieces, 5 months out of work, ton of metal in my leg now, bit of a gimp...but I finally got that building closed in. You and your father are doing good work and the content is great. Have a good one.
Hi Tradesman, Things like you experienced can happen so easily. You have my sympathy for what you have gone through, not fun! BTW I had a somewhat similar experience when walking on icy floor joists. Fortunately for me, it only meant some bruised ribs. Which healed up with no lasting effects. I wish you well as you hopefully continue to get better.
I am 73 yrs old and live in England. Before I became disabled I loved the out door life. Sadly here land is at a premium so we could never do anything like you are. You both make a great team, always being so careful and it's very impressive how you always get your measurements correct. I am so looking forward to seeing you both relax in the warm and dry cabin x

You are so very lucky to have your father working with you. These memories will last you forever and bring a smile whenever you look around your home.
You are truly remarkable..you'd better watch out, somebody's going to discover you!
Thanks Outsider, that was awesome.
Young man give you all the credit! You and your Dad are very good! God bless You!!!
This extended episode has been a real gift to me in a time when I really need to see the positive part of life. Thank you. 🙏 Take care!
Hi midei, it sounds like you have seen a lot of the negative side of life, All the best to you and prayers for you! All the best!
I'm glad that you found this episode to be an encouragement. Be well my friend.
God bless!
Thank you and God bless!
" And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers..."
Malachi 4: 6
(Final verse of the Old Testament.)
@@rconger24 Great verse, one of my favourite verses.
Just what's needed on a rainy day in England. Thank you.
And very rainy it is
So awesome that your building the cabin with your dad.
Thank You ! Be well!
WELCOME BACK

Incredible craftsmanship, and ingenuity. I am impressed.
Unbelievable how much work is done.
It is nice to see how father and son are working together i think every father wishes he had a son like you.
Nice greetings from Germany.
And keep on going.👍
This cabin is truly a work of Art, and to the two artist that did it.
More evidence of clever engineering. Well done, and TYVM for sharing!
I have only watched the first segment yet & I’ll watch the rest later. Great work. U & your dad make a very good team. Your mum would be proud of u 👍🏻
Thanks for stopping by Carol! Always great hearing from you.
Thks for your concern David! Fair point Safety is something not taken for granted by carelessness.
Really enjoyed these last few episodes. Top work
Wow what an episode. It just about whipped me. Every time you grabbed a log i grunted right with you and i am plumb wore out. Great job on this and i loved every minute.
congratulations to you and your dad to getting the ridge pole up , hope all is well with your wifes health .
Well done!
Great video again! Thanks for recording this project and sharing it with us.
Absolutely Brilliant Engineering! Outstanding craftmanship! Thank you! ATB👍👍😎👍👍!
Great job! I really enjoyed your video! Keep them coming!👍👍👍
Awesome build. !!!!!!!! With Dad !!!!!!!
Looking forward to the next episode.
your sense of balance up on those log walls is amazing!
Very impressive editing. You’re getting very very good at short film making. Add that to the 4 dozen other things you’re very very good at. You are a gifted young man. Thanks for the hours of entertainment. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Tossing the log slow mo was awesome! This has been wonderful to watch.
There just are not words to describe how superb this was. Well done and thank you so much for allowing us in to share!
Hi Dale it is our privilege to share it with you! THKS
It's a great channel Jim.
Love the sounds of the birds and logs falling into place.
Can’t wait to see the roof and the cabin dried in.
I'm impressed. Excellent camera work. Incredibly hard work making saddle notches. You make it look easy. Nice work gentleman.
Wow what an amazing young man!! Your parents must be so proud of you , being strong, motivated to tackle such an amazing project!! God bless you and stay safe!!!
That new winch system worked out so well. It is looking great!
The two of you have to be so proud of what you have done. I just finished watching episode 12 and am in awe.
Beautifully narrated, video graphed and edited ....... brilliant.
Wow father and son are strong. I was amazed how strong the son was. Way to go. Good for you guys. Great 👍 job. 🇨🇦
I found myself holding my breath when you placed that log above the window. Nice work! Looked like a perfect fit.
I was holding my breath as well! We had put so much work into that one log, and so I would have been pretty disappointed if it didn't slide into place like it did. It was a great feeling to see it drop in.
I am unable to express my joy and thanks for taking us along with this adventure. Your hardwork and overcoming a deep personal loss is nothing but inspiring. Thank you and be well.
Thks Kurt much appreciated!
