@@snareyshot2879 I've seen only good things, you won't be sorry (though subtitles might be needed for some of the northern Irish accents - and the context will make a bit more sense if you look into Irish history but none of that makes the show any less hilarious.
It’s not her actual accent, it was a Dublin accent. She’s from Galway. A Derry accent is complete different also.

I watched the entire season in one sitting and having an existensial crisis afterwards, like, what am I supposed to do until Season 3 comes out? Lol. But this way I get to experience it again with you guys.. and though there are MANY Bridgerton reaaction videos out there, yours are by far the ONLY one that I'm looking forward to the most. I can't tell you how many times I thought "Hmm.. wonder what would Rizzo and Benji say about this?" the entire time I watched season 2.

Kate shines from the start & challenges Anthony which is great as their scenes highlight their magical chemistry

The child (Kate) was legitimate from a previous marriage, Kate’s mother died and her father met and married Mary and they had Edwina, Kate’s half sister.
The actress playing Penelope is being closer to her real Irish accent when she goes to the print shop
The new Lord Featherington is the father’s distant cousin and he’s British but was shipped off to America when he questioned his father.
Season 3 comes out in may, that story follows Collin and Penelope

Nicola Coughlin, the actress who plays our Lady Whistledown/Penelope, is actually from Northern Ireland, I believe (or maybe it's the Republic?). She's also in Derry Girls, another incredible show on Netflix set in Northern Ireland during their "Troubles™️", around the 90s. You absolutely need to put it on the roster of things to watch.

Personally the only good things to come out of this season is Simone and Jonathan’s chemistry and banter and the death of Anthony’s mutton chops. I hated it but I’m a book kanthony Stan so I’m biased😂

Fun fact: Nicola Coughlan (who plays Penelope) is native Irish! In the print shop, she's actually using her natural accent instead of adopting a British one!
I was looking into her the other day and found out she's a few years away from 40!! My mind was bloody blown! She has such a baby face.
She actually wasn't. She was doing an Irish accent of that period and place. (English is not my first language, so if anyone is more knowledgeable about the subject, go on)
She's Irish, she went to the same university as me in Galway, west of Ireland. She was in Derry Girls before Bridgerton, but in that she used a Northern Irish dialect, because the show was set there.

The chemistry between Simone and Jonathan SELLS THIS SEASON!!! They are amazing together and honestly, made me like Anthony as a leading man even more than the Duke. And I could not believe it when I found out that Jonathan is gay in real life, made me appreciate his acting even more knowing he's a part of the family.

Something that I feel needs mentioning more is the pair of geese holding up Anthony in the park just before Kate arrives. A pair of geese symbolises the imminent arrival of a soulmate, so kudos to the writers/producers/directors for that little Easter egg.

"The Taming Of The Shrew" is my favourite Shakespeare piece.
I used to know Katherina's monologue, at the end of the play, by heart.
The way I perceived it, is that Katherina held this speech with an eye wink, she knew she could wrap Petruchio around her finger any time.

About the age of the girls when presented: Colin is said to be 21 this season, so he was 20 last season. Daphne is right behind Colin in age of the Bridgerton siblings, meaning she was 19 at most, when she got married in season 1. Eliose is right behind Daphne in age and in season 1 Penelope said that Violet Bridgerton had allowed Eloise to make her debut a season late to concentrate on her studies some more. I would take all of that to mean that young women make their debut and try to find a husband at the ripe age of 17-18
Age of debutantes was around 16-18 years old, it depended on more factors. Some girls were out once they were 15. Lydia Bennet as the youngest daughter was and favourite of her mother attended balls as a 15-year-old, but it was stated in the text that she was considered too young to be in society.
Usually, girls were not supposed to find husband immediately, they marry as 18 year-old or older (however, 26-27 year-old women were regarded as "too old" and likely to be spinsters).
Younger girls could have marry (even before their debut) without their parents' consent in Scotland. They were cases of kidnapped heiresses forced to marry. Otherwise, you needed approval of your parents or guardians. It was customary for men to ask for his betrothed's father blessing.
On the other hand, men were supposed to wait. It was because men were supposed to provide for their wives and children. If you were not an heir, you usually did not have a position when you could marry. Due to studies etc., you have to wait until you were 25 years old, sometimes even 30 years old. Even men who were heirs to estates did not usually marry as young as women did, but it happened sometimes. Wife's dowry was usually intended for the daughters and as a pin money fór wife (married women were basically ried to their husbands regarding law, pin money was a little sum just for them).
Realistically, Colin as a third born son would have to be employed. We never hear of any estate of distant cousins' which could be inherited by Benedict or Colin. While both brothers likely have a good sum of money, they would not be provided for by their brother long-term. Brothers only provided for unmaried sisters and for brothers in young age (hello, Gregory). Once the heir provides for his brother's education, his duty Is over. Benedict and Colin are supposed to study ať a university. Respectable professions were in military or as clergymen, other possibility was law, sailoring, and medicine (funnily regarded as the least respectable). Business was scandalous, being looked down upon, but Is definitely an option.
I really really missed daddy Duke, but loved Kate. I'm Indian so i was fairly pleased with the representation, honestly. It was pretty good by Hollywood standards and honestly made sense for the story.
Yea I really love they’re inclusivity, when I heard the Duke wasn’t coming back I was hoping they would just replace him with another black person, but continue expanding the ethnic representation on the show. They delivered 😊
@@PinkPopcast right? For me it's 90-95% there. They even included the title track from one of the most famous Bollywood movies. The one thing I'd change is towards the end of the season so i won't spoil it, but kate, Edwina and Mary's outfits and jewellery all have Indian influence and i love it so much😊
One thing that makes me hope they go for all eight seasons is looking forward to Hyacinth's story. First, it's just being plain fun and a romance where the couple actually gets together very quickly and the rest of the book is focused on them being a badass couple with a story about them having an adventure together and not a will they won't they we know will end up together. But even better is that Gareth - Hyacinth's love interest - is Lady Danbury's grandson, guaranteeing another black main character.
Also Gareth is fantastic, so they have every opportunity to bring him in earlier and they damn well should.

Jonathan Bailey‘s acting is amazing. When I saw his interview with GQ I couldn’t believe what a positive giggly person he is in real life.

I like this season more than season 1, although it isn't perfect, one storyline in particular I thought was weak, but overall really good. The chemistry between Simone and Jonathan is absolutely amazing!

Fun Fact: The List that Anthony wrote with all the Ladies has a Lady Julia (a romantic) and a Miss Quinn (an exceptional writer) on it. Julia Quinn is the author of the Bridgerton books. :)

Some believed in that time that books (or specifically novels) would encourage slothfulness and laziness in people (particularly in women) as it would encourage them to do nothing but lounge around on the sofa all day reading (I took a Jane Austen course - her characters are generally defined by what they read, ie Mr Collins never reads novels).

I mean Austen wasn't above poking fun at some authors, books and book readers - ie in Sense and Sensibility Edward teased Marianne at one point that if she had a fortune of her own she'd buy every edition of her favourite books to prevent them from falling into 'unworthy hands', and the early gothic (pre Poe and Bronte gothic that is) novels Catherine from Northanger Abbey reads way too much of and now believes herself to be in one, but that's still part of the storyline and as I said, we learn a lot about her heroines from the books they read.
It's funny to think about how opinions change - first people say that fictional stories shouldn't be read, then they're saying that no one's reading enough books full stop, and in between it we have people announcing the end of books since the radio was invented, a prediction that has yet to be fulfilled even in the age of reading books on a screen.
