Can't believe they left 2 eleven year old girls in a cabin in the woods with a needle and matches 😂
😂😂 they wanted an “accident” to happen 😭
OH,THE 90S ;P
Maybe stole the needle and scissors from the craft tent, matches from campfire supplies? They are trouble makers 😂
More importantly, where did she get an apple wedge?
"WE GREW UP WATCHING MOVIES" 😂😂😂 starting off strong!
😂
I really thought they're was actual twins and not just Lindsey 😭
@@_Onenesss frrr
it came out when i was 4 almost 5 and my mom thought i wouldn't understand how they did it so she told me one was a robot 😭
ACTING!
@@PinkPopcast Outstanding
I thought that with the original PT.
My parents divorced but are now remarried to each other. It actually has worked out well for them. My mother left because of my father’s alcoholism. They were separated for a year then divorced for a few more years. However, my dad never dated anyone else, stopped drinking, tried really hard to win my mom back, and it worked. They’ve been married for the second time for over 20 years now and are empty nesting pretty happily from what I can tell. One anniversary of my mom leaving, my dad even sort of re-proposed asking her “will you stay married to me this time?”
That is so sweet and adorable and I’m so happy for them!
AWWW my heart just melted
Damn that’s incredibly beautiful
I love that for them. 😭❤️
i’m so happy your dad got better ☹️❤️
Natasha Richardson should've played Princess Diana in something.
when i was younger, i was convinced she was Princess Diana
Oh, that would’ve been beautiful
@@PinkPopcast😢 I agree
That's what I was thinking 😂
Unfortunately I believe she passed
Also, my grandparents divorced remarried divorced, and then remarried until death they parted. On their 50th wedding anniversary, my grandma gave a speech saying, "We've been married 50 years with some vacations."
Omg the vacations!
Yo make a movie on THEM.
Awww🥹
19:12 Did anyone else notice that Lindsey Lohan does an “English girl trying to do American” accent?? Like she does an american accent except with english inflections and with Annie’s mannerisms. This is a VERY GOOD child performance!!!
She’s so impressive
Man that is so messed up, the dad didn't mention "oh hey Meredith, I actually have two kids".
Not even his own daughter
Fun fact: here in Spain they translated the title of this movie for some reason to "Yo a Londres y tu a California" which translates to "Me to London and you to California" which literally spoils the movie 😂😂
Hahah omg 😂
In Brazil it's called "Operação Cupido" ie "Operation Cupid", so imagine my surprise when I found out that half the movie is not about them actually trying to get their parents back together
Mexico here, they called it "Juego de Gemelas" the translation is "Twins Game"
In my country, Poland, the title was translated as "Nie wierzcie bliźniaczkom", which means "Do not believe the twins".
@@pebe88do not believe the twins is my favourite!
Fun fact: Elaine Hendrix (Meredith) and Lisa Ann Walter (Chessy) are friends IRL. Lisa took Elaine to an award show as her date one year. And one time, they reenacted the "you rang" scene to celebrate the film's anniversary.
I didn’t realize the counselor with the dark hair was Janice from Friends. It took me years to put that together. When I started watching friends regularly, I was like, oh my god

Totally unrelated but is that a project 863 profile puc?

@@EmonEconomist thank you🥰 hopefully I remember it until December 😄
There are so many things I rewatch now where a characters age is given, and my first thought is how much older I am than them now and where I was at their age.
The parents are legitimately horrible people. It's one thing not to tell your kid they're adopted. It's another thing entirely to hide a whole parent (with whom you share no animocity) and a sibling from your kid. It's such a messed up arrangement in the first place. They had to make Meredith cartoonishly evil. Otherwise, the parents would've been the villains. I literally thought about all of this when I, too, watched this for the first time on VHS with a friend while I was in middle school.
That’s impressive that you picked up on all that as a kid
@@PinkPopcast I came from a blended family, so that's probably why. I was just used to some of my half-siblings spending time with their other parent. That's normal. What the Parent Trap parents did is just WTF.
Well it’s a movie. Majority of movies hinge on suspending disbelief on the realism for fun or cool plot. They admit they were young and the decision was stupid probably made when they were extremely angry at each other similar to most real life divorces. I’m similar situation to where I didn’t know my real dad or that i had 2 more siblings until I was 17. Yeah it sucked but once I fully understood the situation I became a bit more understanding to both my parents. Not saying all parents are god but I tend not to judge people only on the worst decision.
There was definitely some animosity, she threw a fucking hair dryer 😂
It makes a bit more sense when you know it's based on a book from the 1940s and the parents were German (mother) and Austrian (father). If I remember correctly.
Also the book, as I recall, is actually less of a comedy and leaning more into the more serious moments and how hard it gets.
this is one of my ultimate comfort movies. Also I know Meredith is wicked but she just so fabulous.
“Being young and beautiful is not a crime, you know” I live
😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Also when I realized (recently) that Chessy's name was Chessy and not Jessie I was like "My whole life has been a lieeeee!" hahahah
😂
😂 same
Literally just found out from the comments in this video 😂
they really could have ended the shenanigans at that hotel if they'd just called in the dog. who knew from the jump and was never wrong.
So true! Haha
Or there is Benji's solution 😂 34:44 that bit in the video broke me
“Hey let’s put two Teen girls who obviously hate each other Alone in a cabin in the woods far from us”
“That sounds Great”
“What could ✨pOsSiBLy✨ go wrong!?”
As a kid I think I shipped the dad with Chessy. They were already raising that kid together, they bantered, they seemed a much better match than the dad and mom who got such a bizarre divorce and didn't speak for 11 years.
This, amongst many other films of the 90s, featured divorced parents getting back together and everything being good. As a kid of divorced parents I knew that was a fantasy but it was still a very odd thing for me to see constantly in movies. I'm glad kids today get to see more options in movies and tv.
I know I figured it doesn’t work out like in films
Mrs.Doubtfires ending was much more realistic, & still a happy ending I always thought.
I did a paper in college on a bunch of romcoms from the 1940s in which the main characters have been divorced and then remarry. Like, there were a dozen at least, and many starring Carey Grant (like His Girl Friday and The Awful Truth). But they weren’t parents
@@dl2725 I love _His Girl Friday._
@@HuntingViolets I think you’d enjoy The Awful Truth, then! 🙂
My sister pierced her own ears after seeing this film. She was 10, and she just shoved the posts straight through. Our mom was pissed. lol
Oh my god that would hurt so much
So like a piercing gun but with just her hands???? OUCH 😭
@@PinkPopcast Right, but she did both of them; they were lopsided as well, she was ten.
@@blainevanity6 yep, just straight on through with her hands; she did both ears, too. I just remembered how red her ears were. lol
This movie prevented me from getting my ears pierced for like at least ten years because it gave me such a terrible fear of piercings. 😭 And when I finally got them done at 18 I had to have them pierced THREE TIMES over a two year period because my body kept rejecting it. I also remember thinking that the twins were so much more grown up than me because they were almost twelve and I was not even double digits yet LOL.
I never realized Bonnie was in the Parent Trap. Thank you, Benji
No prob haha
It took someone pointing it out, but now I can’t unsee Natasha Richardson basically looking like Princess Diana as Liz. Just never crossed my mind before!
lindsay lohan played dual roles in this movie when she was only 11, she deserved an oscar for this 👑 i watched this movie religiously as a kid and it’s still a classic!
Yes!!
Fun Fact: Natasha Richardson's sons watch this movie when they miss their mother because apperently her character in this film is exactly how she was in real life
😭😭
It's called "das doppelte Lottchen" or double lottie( idk). I loved that book as a child, it's kind of a German classic.
That's so sweet and so sad at the same time 😓
Oh my goodness.😭

Whyyaiyadaaaa
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I enjoy your first-time reactions to things, but your rewatches are so much more fun because you're so familiar with it and it's like rewatching favorite movies with your friends!
Also, there are definitely a lot of things that you only notice when you rewatch the movies you watched as kids as an adult, and I only noticed several things about this one while watching this reaction, and I feel again like I either need to rewatch everything I ever watched as a child, or never watch it again.
We love rewatching and rediscovering movies as much as first time if not more :)
You guys gave the mum a hard time about being perceptive, but she does find out first, and the dad is pretty shocked! 😂
Meredith is such a cartoon evil stepmother, but they really could have drowned her with that "prank".
"So they're dead" 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like the water would wake her up lol even with a sleeping pill
@@PinkPopcast 🤞🤞"our daughters have a manslaughter charge, do you to get remarried?"

Hahah amazing 😂
The story is actually an adaption of the hugely successful German childrens novel 'Das doppelte Lottchen' by Erich Kästner from 1949. There was a famous film adaption in 1950 in Germany as well. Its like canon over here haha. It had a very unusual family setting with divorced parents and a single mom and one of the twin girls with more 'boyish' character traits so it caused quite a stirr on its release. I read it when I was a child and I always found the parents decision to split up the twins unbelievable - but I guess these where different times in the 1940s and it might have been not so crazy back then after WW2, who knows! I just read that Kästner wrote the story as a movie script during the Nazi regime but was not allowed to work as a writer any longer so publishing was delayed til 1949 and he made a child novel out of it (a total novelty as well because it took its child protagonists seriously). So all in all: a classic!
I loved that book and the 1950 film soooo much (and his other books as well). It's super interesting to see the comparison and differences to the american versions. I just wish Kästner would get more credit for this concept internationally, since everyone assumes the american 1961 version is "the original".
Agreed i loveee both the book and the 50s film:D
I love Erich Kästner so much. Not only for his children books. Fabian is an amazing novel!
Baby Bonnie Bennet is what I needed today

When Chessie says "almost as if you were..." and Annie's like "Almost as if I were _who_" and I'm just like, who said it was a 'who'? What if it was like "almost as if you were losing your memory", "almost as if you were starting to go through puberty", "almost as if you were abducted by aliens and probed and replaced with a changeling child" or something? I always felt like that conversation jumped a little bit.
Haha she knew what she meant so she just went straight to “who” I guess

The number of times I’ve watched that is insane 😂 I hope you guys cover the original Cheaper by the Dozen too someday
Oh we love cheaper by the dozen!!
My favorite movie of all time!! It’s funny you mentioned bears because I completely forgot that they lured bear cubs into Meredith’s tent in the original movie until I rewatched as an adult and was like… she actually could have DIED.
I hope you guys react to The Holiday at some point because Nancy Meyers really knows how to do a California/England life swap. And great timing that this was released the same day as Lindsay Lohan’s new movie on Netflix because I am ready for Lohanaissance!!
Omg Bears in the tent!!? 😱
Could’ve turned into The Revenant in a different movie. 🐻
This will always be one of my favorite movies. I was devastated when Natasha Richardson passed. 💕
Same!!
Can I say the British twin consistently got the short end of the stick? Yeah her putting the beds on the roof was wild but she was the one who was left with no clothes, got her cabin destroyed, had to get her EARS PIERCED by an 11 year old (while she agreed the switch wasn’t even her idea) and got ignored when she asked for help dealing with Meredith. And while the mom had an emotional moment with her other daughter, Dennis quaid was just like “cool” we he realized he had had his other twin this whole time. Thank God for the nanny tbh
This is based on a book that is even stranger. It takes place in Europe and the one twin almost dies of an illness, on her deathbed, she begs for the parents to get back together. I kind of wish they would make the original version.
Oooh that’s so different lol
We need an "It Takes Two" movie reaction
Agreed!! AT AN INSTANT LOL
I've seen the tie dye girl stitch someone's video on tiktok with them also saying the same thing haha

Yes, the lost boy at camp is Lindsey’s little brother.
Idk how I never knew that!
the part when meredith is riding in that tiny car , and that man said how evil she is reminds me of the scene in casper like the lady carrigan and dibbs for some reason and i could still qoute this movie lol
13:25 my mom was already grown and married by the time this movie came out, but when i first saw it when i was younger, she told me her and her friend pierced her ears like this, apple and all, when she was like 13 and made me promise to not pierce my ears like that just because i saw it in the movie 😭 her piercings never closed or anything, she still has em
😭😭😭
RIP Natasha Richardson you were truly a gifted comedienne. She’s absolutely amazing in ‘Wild Child’.
❤️❤️❤️💔
They also couldn't pull this switch if they were fraternal twins, unless they happened to resemble each other a lot facially. I mean, they more or less accidentally have this switch in _Twelfth Night,_ but you just have to roll with that.
Whnn I became older than Meredith was a day where life felt weird 🙃
Seems wrong lol
Another idea for figuring out which is which for the black mail scene. Just have Samny tell them. He barks at Annie lol Your intro had me laughing so hard, I had to pause and let it out 😂
Yeah this is one of the Disney Remakes where they got it right. The others I love are Freaky Friday, and 101 Dalmations.
Clever idea!!? Less cruel than killing Cuppy
Oh that's another really good idea! I thought they should have had the mum start speaking French and see which twin could understand her.
OMG, THEY ARE SOOO SMALL!!!! It's so funny rewatching your childhood shows and movies and seeing how small the actors truly were. Shoot at that age they looked normal and eveyone else was either a baby or supper old😆

As a mother of twin girls this movie is so infuriating!! I get so pissed watching it! The parents are ridiculous! I cant imagine ever spilting my girls up. No matter how annoyed i was with their dad I would never sepereate them! Also i had my twins at 26 so meredith saying she is 26 makes me laugh. Aint no way that women is 26! 😂

The little pipsqueak who threatened to fight Hallie is the director's daughter.

Man, this reminded me that Dennis Quaid was my first ✨awakening✨😂 character was trash but he’s beautiful lmao . Love that Lisa Ann Walter is back on screen and just as great in Abbott elementary!
What sort of parents would separate their twin children and never tell them about each other's existence? They never cared to meet their other child. I don't even know what my reaction would be if I were one of the girls. My relationship with them would probably never repair, and I would never trust them again.
Exactly!!
I Love this movie so so much! This was the first one I’ve seen. I didn’t even know this was a remake till a couple of years ago. Also apparently Lindsey was sneezed a lot during filming with the horses bc she’s allergic to them. I didn’t believe my mum when she told me that she isn’t an actual twin because I was like “then how are there two of them in the movie? There can only been two of them if there’s twins.” Only when I was 14 or 13 I realized/learned that my mum was actually telling the truth. Everyone in this did amazing and everyone who made this possible behind the scenes. Y’all are hilarious. Love the videos! You two do an amazing job!

Omg such great movies!!
Hallie & Annie should've been pissed!! Who agreed to this custody arrangement?! They decided the best course of action was split these twins up, never tell them about their sister nor their other parent, make the whole family complicit in the lies & never see or acknowledge their other child ever again?!! WTF!! How are they not mad at Nick & Lizzie for lying to them their whole lives?!
They never even apologize to their kids! Both parents were rich, paying for plane tickets & visits shouldn't have been a problem for a vineyard owner & world class designer! Also what did they tell the girls about their other parent? Did they give them that raggedy picture & tell them they were dead?! Just horrible all the way around! As a twin myself, I really feel some type of way about this. 😂
I didnt know the timeline but maybe Hallie and Annie were babies when their parents split and that’s why they couldn’t “agree” to the custody agreement?
@@BooneErica I understand the timeline. What I don't understand is why they did this traumatic stuff?

CONGRATULATIONS ON 100K🎉🫶🏾🫂‼️✨
Thank you!!
This girl in the tie dye shirt did in fact make me feel some type of way as a little children lol
The parents met, got married and conceived them all on the cruise😭
Obviously it’s a Disney movie so I know that it’s contrived and cheesy on purpose and that it’s not real, but there are some things that have irked me for years.
I’m ngl, the parents are the real villains of the film. How did the court approve of the parents each taking custody of one twin, and then never telling them about each other?! They let those children grow up without knowledge of each other and without ever knowing the other parent. Lowkey, the parents should’ve probably gotten charged w criminal negligence for how those girls were switching places in different countries without anyone knowing. That’s super dangerous!
I think Meredith gets all the smoke they should’ve given to the parents. I’m a Meredith apologist bc she honestly was put in the middle of a crappy situation. Yeah she was a typical cartoonish younger-girlboss-wicked-almost-stepmother, but she actually seemed to love the dad (yes a lot for his money but she seemed to love him just as a person as well. There’s plenty more rich men she could’ve easily gotten with but she really did like the dad). Mind you, the dad withheld SUPER important information from her and then expects her to just roll with it? Then she tries to get along with the children, children she wasn’t told truthfully about, and they’re rude as hell to her. She didn’t sign up for that sh!t. I’d be mad too!
Obviously beefing w preteens is WILD, but it’s not like she didn’t try to get along with the daughter she knew about. It’s not the children’s fault, they’re just being kids and are going through an intense situation with no support or tools for how to work through it, BUT I don’t like how they didn’t respect the fact that there’s a reason their parents weren’t together, and destroyed any other relationship the parents were in just to get them back together. Again, they’re children so it’s not a surprise. What is surprising is that their scheming actually worked and didn’t completely blow up in their faces. But again, Disney!
When I was a kid I always wondered why the parents didn’t bring out the dog to figure out which twin was which! Like hellloooo
But no, y’all went straight for, “Torture Cuppy and see who cries!!!!” I can’t 😂😂😂
27:41 "Aunt Vicky" was The Meredith Blake in the original The Parent Trap except her name was VICKY in it!!! Fun Fact! She's still playing that role in this film.😂

You guys should watch Lisa Frankenstein!! I think you would love it. The same person who wrote Jennifer’s Body wrote it.
Yess we loved it!!
i mean this movie premise may seem unrealistic (it did even to me growing up) but i only found out at 17 that i have three other siblings out there who I've never met (my father's other kids). Also, never saw a single photo of my father or those siblings. And I still haven't met them even now. I do know the siblings that my mom raised though, I grew up with them. So maybe not identical twins, but people having siblings/half-siblings they never knew about is more common than people think. Especially in families where people don't really talk about the past, particularly to the kids.
So true. My dad found out at 50 that he had siblings other than the ones he grew up with. They were from one of his father's past marriages. And none of the kids from either marriage knew about the others until they all showed up at his funeral.
Every time I watch this movie, I get so irritated at the parents like how do you not know the kids switch. The kids only had like a week or two to craft this idea they would not be able to get down the minute details of each other. Just because they’re twins doesn’t mean they they eat the same way, the same way all those little micro movements that we don’t think about the parents should’ve noticed.
I'm glad I grew up with this film, can't wait to see what y'all react to next ^^
