    Hey Marty I like your man cave it's awesome. I can imagine you could spend a small fortune once you start collecting all the cars and the doodads.

    Awesome! Just got my set today, and will be getting started this week-end. Will be heading to Wally-World too, to get some of these supplies, and can't wait to customize and make some of my own barriers and other accessories. Signs, etc. Your channel is great! Glad I found you.

    Thanks Marty for this video. I share the same rational about slot. I’m just changing from analog to digital for the same reasons you’ve described. I’m 55 years old and I enjoy a lot playing slot with my kids. Here in Spain slot is not a big hobby yet but we’ll help to spread around. I’m waiting for your video about race software and your great analysis you make. Thanks again.

    Welcome to the hobby.
    I got my first track (Tyco) for Christmas when I was 12 years old in 1972.
    When I had my Scalextric track year's ago I created my borders and rumble strips using ¼" MDF. The track is slightly higher than the borders and so I used thin foam to shim it to the correct height.
    A small tabletop bandsaw will be a good investment and will pay for itself by making the borders yourself.
    I have built my 4th routed track to date. I have a four-lane tri-oval that is in six sections in the garage and my current 3 laner is in the basement.
    I purchased a CNC last year and now I am designing the building and the structures for the track.

      @twolinesslotcars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fantastic! Yes, I have considered going the mdf route but I change my layout quite a bit right now.. once I settle on the final layout, might have to go that way and make my own. A routed track would be a fun build!

    Nice guard rails, this idea only works on Carrera track , on Scalextric track you cannot get the bulldog clips to fasten securely , I designed and made my own to fit under the track and used cut down plastic border strip to act as the barrier, works great.

    Guys make borders out of MDF also,can be very close to same thickness of track.

      Brad, I have looked into this.. but felt like I needed to lock down my layout, but it has been changing a lot lately lol

      @@twolinesslotcars I know what you mean! About as soon as I get a layout I like, a new idea pops up!...........I dont have the space you have but I'm fitting everything I can into the space Ive got....scenery added in would tend to lock the track in place so I havent done any yet.

    There is white plastic poster board (available at Michael's) which may be a bit more durable.

    Stick with the soft boarders as the hard ones scuffs your cars paint job quicker I would stick with what you are doing.

    Someone needs to come up with a border hack. I think I saw somewhere where someone
    3-D printed some.

    • @twolinesslotcars
      @twolinesslotcars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree… boarders get so expensive.. I have found 3d printer plans for narrow boarders for Carrera track, it not full size boarders.

    Are ever concerned about dampness in your basement affecting your track.( rails mainly)?

    • @twolinesslotcars
      @twolinesslotcars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My basement is pretty dry. I keep the track pretty clean.. I try to keep them wiped down. No problems to this point.

    Check out the Hobbywerkerei you-tube channel for a video on how to make your own track borders from medium density fibre board. The name of the video is "Carreabahn Randstreifen selber bauen (Tutorial)" The presenter of the video is speaking in German, but watching the video should give you any information you require to make your own.
