The first BLADE is still amazing, and Deacon Frost is, to this day, after countless MARVEL movies, still one of my favorite villains in a comic book film.
Perfect casting, unreal scenes, Wesley Snipes doing his own Martial Arts. This is truly one of the reason we have what we do now for the super hero genre.
Can’t wait for you to see the second one, directed by Guillermo Del Toro, lots of pratical effects and amazing action. Blade generally works at the street level with Daredevil, Punisher, etc. However, like everyone else he's been an Avenger at some point. Regarding the Ryan Reynolds in Blade Trinity... He was given Deadpool Comics to give him an idea of what direction they wanted for his character... It was his introduction to Deadpool.
If the Matrix is the culmination of 90's action and set the tone moving forward, Blade is the PERFECT keystone bridging all that 90's action with a bit of solid 80's action hero tropes as well. Also Snipes is a perfect comic book actor who not only pulls off the lines but moves in comic book poses.
I'm not gonna lie, you two are the best duo of all the reactors for Reel Rejects. I've really enjoyed your Blade/Underworld series and As Above, So Below reactions! I always know I will have a great time when it is you two paired together. Thank you!
That's the guy from the show Shield that Tracy Lords brings to the party. His name is Kenny Johnson. Also Donal Logue is the minion to Deacon Frost who was also Harvey Bullock in Gotham.
The opening night club scene is so iconic. It's one of the few perfect character introductions in cinema. Another one is that of Colonel Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds.
Really cool thing about this movie: it actually informed the character's look in the comics themselves. Before this, Blade was more of a Hammer Horror type character (he's actually British in the MU lore) and his current leather and katana look was one of the first movie-synergy adaptations for the comics.
41:09 The original version of this scene was supposed to have morbius in it. They climb out and have this little conversation and then it would zoom in on top of the building to him. I can't remember the reason why but they obviously decided against it
It’s a bit cheesy…but I’ve always loved this movie and Blade 2 as well. Deacon Frost is a great villain. Blade is just cool 😎 Feeling bad for those who try to ice skate uphill and can’t enjoy this.
There is a comic book series of Blade versus Ghostrider. It's so badass. I hope they make a movie about that. In the comics, Blade is more like a demon than a vampire.
I love this , going back to my childhood classics is probably one of my top 3 things you guys do here, reliving these first time moments through you guys is fantastic. Now we just need Greg to watch the GODDAMN GOONIES!
I saw Blade three times in the movies. To this day, it is the only movie I have ever seen in which people have left the movies theater before the star showed up on screen. I LOVED IT!!!! Also, one of the few movies were the lead and the lead woman didn't fall in love. They were a team.

Marvel would have gone bankrupt if not for this movie. Combined with Xmen 2 years later and spiderman 2 years after that, and that is why Marvel is still around today.

I was 15 when I watched Blade but by then I had already seen Bram Stokers Dracula, interview with a vampire, Buffy. and it was a really fun twist seeing a movie about a vampire hunter rather than a movie about vampires. Also Bram Stokers Dracula is the best vampire movie imo. I don't think we would have gotten interview or even Blade had it not been for the sucsess of Bram Stokers, Gary Oldman puts on a clinic in acting. I mean just look at the cast.
In a big shop they were selling big TV at that time .and this movie was on those TV .I was like 7-8 years and I was going like twice a week there just to watch Blade .😂😂😂😂
Two fun facts about Blade - 1. The redhead at the beginning is Traci Lords she's been in a lot of movies after doing adult films and it wild where Blade shot her and the 2nd is - in the films of UnderWorld - Celine (Kate Beckinsale) character was called - The Death Dealers - and was modeled after Blade and Trinity...
When this came out, I was obsessed 🤯 My best friend actually talked a shop owner into giving her a life sized cardboard Blade she then gave me for my birthday 😆
There was a deleted alternate ending where their conversation outside the temple is slightly different and they are being watched by distant figure on a building that was apparently supposed to lead into introducing Morbius
I've been craving an actual big time reaction channel to cover this, almost as much as I want this channel or Blind Wave or even the Normies to cover Gremlins. (Gremlins is my absolute favorite movie in the world)
Imagine a world where Blade isn't a success and Marvel Studios has to shut down and file for bankruptcy. No Iron Man. No Captain America. No Avengers. No MCU. If we did eventually get those characters it would be much further in the future and most definitely different actors playing all those characters. Yes RDJ was the flame that started the fire for the MCU but Wesley Snipes sparked that flame. Hopefully we get your reaction to Blade 2 it's the best of the series imo
I loved all things Vampire as a kid and I used to wear this VHS down. Now I’m more Anne Rice Vampire fan because they’re way more powerful and the lore is so good but Blade still has a special place in my heart.

Thank you!
Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff were a fantastic pairing as bitter rivals in this movie.
That's the guy from the show Shield that Tracy Lords brings to the party. His name is Kenny Johnson. Also Donal Logue is the minion to Deacon Frost who was also Harvey Bullock in Gotham.
This is where the fun begins! This was my first rated R movie, and first Marvel movie! Hope you two like it! 🙏🏽💪
The opening night club scene is so iconic. It's one of the few perfect character introductions in cinema. Another one is that of Colonel Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds.
That's the one thing that everyone refers to when they talk about this movie is that opening
Really cool thing about this movie: it actually informed the character's look in the comics themselves. Before this, Blade was more of a Hammer Horror type character (he's actually British in the MU lore) and his current leather and katana look was one of the first movie-synergy adaptations for the comics.
I feel John is just so sweet and down to earth. He can react with anyone and it’ll be awesome to watch.
Yes! LOVE John
"This makes me wish they would somehow multiverse him in." Watching this reaction after Deadpool Wolverine. Marvel Jesus granted your wish.
Love Blade! Hope you guys watch the sequel
Roxy and John’s reaction when they first see the explodey serum, “AAAaaahhhhhhh~” 🤣
This movie changed how I viewed vampires. It's SO COOL, nothing will ever compare to that opening scene.
Blade did bullet time before the matrix, Wesley is real og and the godfather of the MCU
41:09 The original version of this scene was supposed to have morbius in it. They climb out and have this little conversation and then it would zoom in on top of the building to him. I can't remember the reason why but they obviously decided against it
Wherein Norrington plays Morbius on the roof
It’s a bit cheesy…but I’ve always loved this movie and Blade 2 as well. Deacon Frost is a great villain. Blade is just cool 😎 Feeling bad for those who try to ice skate uphill and can’t enjoy this.
There is a comic book series of Blade versus Ghostrider. It's so badass. I hope they make a movie about that. In the comics, Blade is more like a demon than a vampire.
Never can get enough of these movies, back in the day when comics and related movies, series & games actually were themselves.
I love this , going back to my childhood classics is probably one of my top 3 things you guys do here, reliving these first time moments through you guys is fantastic. Now we just need Greg to watch the GODDAMN GOONIES!
I remember going with my parents to see this in a drive in theater when I was a kid. This movie is still awesome
I saw Blade three times in the movies. To this day, it is the only movie I have ever seen in which people have left the movies theater before the star showed up on screen. I LOVED IT!!!! Also, one of the few movies were the lead and the lead woman didn't fall in love. They were a team.
Damn didn't know nobody like it
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc Probably because they didn't expect the blood orgy in the beginning.
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc different era in cinema. That was America before 9/11 or any mass shootings at schools. Mainstream society wasn't nearly as desensitized as we are now. Even horror movies weren't completely gory. This movie came out before homosexuality was accepted regularly on screen..
This is probably still the coolest movie to ever exist.
Y'all just made my memorial day weekend. This movie is still 🔥 !
Thanks!
This movie still holds up today and is an awesome watch. Now do Blade II..... directed by Guillermo del Toro!!!
Whistler: You got to finish me off..
Roxy: Giggity
Lmao straight up
Oh man, the first two Blade movies are some of my favorites to this day. If you liked the first then I recommend the second for sure!
Marvel would have gone bankrupt if not for this movie. Combined with Xmen 2 years later and spiderman 2 years after that, and that is why Marvel is still around today.
I’d love to see all 3 movie reactions!! I liked all of them, they’re a fun time seeing the badass Daywalker brought to the film medium.
51:58 I do love how after watching this you all realize it’s going to be hard to top this movie in a Blade remake/reboot. It makes me feel so much better about my never ending love for this movie
How old were you when you first saw BLADE??

I was 15 when I watched Blade but by then I had already seen Bram Stokers Dracula, interview with a vampire, Buffy. and it was a really fun twist seeing a movie about a vampire hunter rather than a movie about vampires. Also Bram Stokers Dracula is the best vampire movie imo. I don't think we would have gotten interview or even Blade had it not been for the sucsess of Bram Stokers, Gary Oldman puts on a clinic in acting. I mean just look at the cast.
I had just turned 17 when I saw this in theaters.
In a big shop they were selling big TV at that time .and this movie was on those TV .I was like 7-8 years and I was going like twice a week there just to watch Blade .😂😂😂😂
Her: I've never seen Twilight.
Me: I think I'm in love.
I'm happy to see you two reacting to this! Hopefully the two sequels will follow. And I can't wait for the new MCU version!
I love this trilogy. I hope you react to them all
This movie is still a classic superhero movie, So glad you guys are reacting to it
Underworld has such an underappreciated costume design for werewolves
25:44 I think we all know that the "Blade signal" would just be a silhouette of those sunglasses in the sky.. and I'm all for it.
LOL absolutely, my mistake 😂😎
Roxy would make a great vampire hunter!
watching jon get to see his childhood dream come true by finally getting around to watching blade is so awesome!
"Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
- Eric Brooks/Blade
When this came out, I was obsessed 🤯 My best friend actually talked a shop owner into giving her a life sized cardboard Blade she then gave me for my birthday 😆
*Sees title - sees John & Roxy - clicks* 👍
There was a deleted alternate ending where their conversation outside the temple is slightly different and they are being watched by distant figure on a building that was apparently supposed to lead into introducing Morbius
I've been craving an actual big time reaction channel to cover this, almost as much as I want this channel or Blind Wave or even the Normies to cover Gremlins. (Gremlins is my absolute favorite movie in the world)
One of my all time favorite films. Fun times.
Love love this trilogy!! Number 2 was my favourite but they were all so good!
42:45 And John got his wish granted haha
Blade was so good...Saw it when it came out and was blown away. What an outstanding soundtrack. Still on my phone today. 🔥
I love Roxy. Keep bringing her back.
Worddd
I loved that childhood story, how Blade was taken from you. 😮
Anyone here after THAT one moment in Deadpool?
Whoaaaaa you’d never seen blade until now! What a gift to discover this glory
Phenomenal show as always. Thank you for giving justice to Blade. Marvel was going out of business until Wesley was BLADE!😎👍🏾👍🏾
If it wasn't for blade the early spiderman movies would not have happened and the MCU would never exist. This movie should be on an altar at marvel HQ
I loved all things Vampire as a kid and I used to wear this VHS down.
Now I’m more Anne Rice Vampire fan because they’re way more powerful and the lore is so good but Blade still has a special place in my heart.
That was great 👏👏👏
Looking forward to the Blade II reaction.
Roxy is so 🔥
Um no, she’s annoying af
You now have to watch with Roxy the best of the blade movies , blade 2. A true number 2 film that out does the first reel rejects trust me!! 🎉
I absolutely LOVE this movie. Definitely my #1 Marvel movie over everything, and I am a Wolverine FAN. But Blade...Westley Snipes🔥🔥🔥🔥 different breed!
Y'all should def do the rest of the series and The Underworld series. The Blade TV show was so disappointing. Love you guys ❤️
