I actually found one a couple years ago. I was lurking on a forum and the users shitting on one of the local pests sent me into a rabbit hole, and that one pest user owned a forum and it was pretty much like the video, except more schizophrenic.

Quick correction in the video: A couple of times I refer to James Marsters as James Marsden. That's wrong. James MARSTERS is the guy who played Spike in Buffy. James MARSDEN is the dude who played generic white guy in the Sonic movies and HOP, sorry for the mistake. But can you really blame me, look how similar their names are.

I actually found a small rabbithole kinda like this one. I stumbled across a random wiki page while searching for images on google for my school presentation. That wiki has OVER A 100 PAGES, all made by one guy. The wiki contains a lot of lore about his "original" characters he made for a book that he hasn't even finished, and he's been writing it for like 4 years. and, might I add, it's written for 2 languages. I will not disclose the name of that wiki, for obvious reasons, but I just wanted to show that there's a lot of stuff like that hidden on the internet.
Ah thats sad, it sounds real interesting and i would have loved to see that shit.
I know of a wiki with 2500+ pages full of lore and characters made to poke fun at bad fanfics. Seems pretty forgotten though.
I tried to do something like that one time, I tried to create a wiki about my modded Skyrim walkthrough (That I wasn't even recording/posting anywhere), but I got bored and abandoned it and they deleted it (R.I.P. Hlabablah the purple orc with a pikachu mask and two golden glocks)

Internet wasn't so popular back then, nor was there as many chances to make money out of it.

Somewhere out there, a person who is a huge fan of the "Pulseman" video game just made a small Discord server with only one member that is him.
He put the server's invite link up on Disboard or something like that, years come by and he is still waiting for a Pulseman fan to talk to.

He does seem to dabble in a specific corner of internet history, though, is what I mean. There's certain channels out there that also do the same but focusing on other niches, like Izzyz or Internet Historian. Only ones that come to mind right now, tbh, but you get the gist.

I've heard of this, probably from the Cracked article, but I didn't realize that this Buffy forum was from 2004. It's strange to create it so late. I feel like just having a LiveJournal would make so much more sense.
I remember stumbling across something like this on an old fandom wiki. I enjoy stub hunting every now and then, finding and contributing to old fandom history for my own curiosity. But in this one fandom i won't name, i remember coming across a stub that was like around 10k words, a fifth of a novel. Usually a stub is 50-1000 words. It was strange: a person made their own character, alongside a species of said character and backstory that they tried to canonize into lore. The person attached the stub heading i imagine so more people could read it or add to the lore, but it was so weird because it obvious everything was made up. Pasted everywhere in the html log was "real facts do not edit this section". it was also cringe because there were illustrations (elementary school level stuff). The head editors changed it from a wiki page to the person's personal wiki bio page, and I changed it away from stub so fewer editors could find it. It was so strange that it felt like someome wanted to be seen and also never be discovered. People's obsessions really get weird on old non mainstream sites on the internet.
I really feel bad for her as I'm someone with both autism and ADHD so this sounds like something I could do with one of my many hyperfixations

Honestly I have a Discord server that's just for me to post whatever I need to keep up with too. I know a lot of others who do that too. So what Jamie did isn't even that unusual, if anything she was just ahead of her time.
Also there are PLENTY of super hardcore fans of niche fandoms out there tucked away in the internet, and Jamie's obsession wasn't really that strange or questionable compared to some others, like the ones about anime waifus or other weird shit. I guess for the time her board was raided maybe it was considered unusual, but really she didn't deserve any of that.

@@larmencio889 In the commenter’s case the discord server isn’t really to talk to yourself, I know that because I have one too. I use it to store information and links somewhere that I can easily find it again, and to interact with discord bots in privacy (useful for if I have no clue how a bot works and don’t wanna look dumb)

I remember reading the Cracked article back in the day, I remember thinking this person needed help and hoped she’d get it, I was 12 and somehow I had more empathy than these people. Knowing that the forum was essentially just a poorly formatted blog makes it worse.
In general, the lack of empathy for the mentally ill shocks me sometimes, there are so many horrible stories on the internet, many of which ended worse than this one.

I have found couple of forums where only active users are ad bots and 1-3 actual humans. It is weird to read. 😂 One forum was for my old school. No one used it anymore so the forum was just full of sex scam bots and one ex student who has schizophrenia and he wrote there daily long delusional texts about various topics.
I planned to create account there to discuss with that guy. But then I decided to not do that. He was an absolute asshole to me at school (he didn't have schitzophrenia then - he got that when he was 20 years old). So it was fitting for him to be totally alone and fill an abandoned forum with weird text.

His last video was only a few months ago. The catch: She died in 2008. He would upload on the day she died too. And they all had unique footage. I guess he ran out.

I want to clarify something that you seem to have missed.
Ebaumsworld is not equivalent to 4chan (you seem to be almost hyphenating it). Ebaumsworld was a site dedicated to content theivery. 4chan hated them for essentially the same reasons they hated 9gag later and reddit now. It's a site that rips off content from 4chan, waters it down so that it's more palatable to normies while still keeping some of the edgy themes, and then takes credit for it.
If you're familiar with 4chan then you know about rules 1 and 2: Do not talk about /b/, and do not talk about /b/, respectively. This is because raids were also false flag attacks. During raids, they would reference Ebaumsworld to pin the attack on them so they'd get any blowback. It was essentially another layer to the joke. First, they ruin a site for its community by shitting it up with porn and gore and antisemitism, then trick that same community into taking their revenge on a completely unrelated site that 4chan hated.
The fact that so many people don't get this even today is why it worked so well.

I remember being on niche forums when I was younger. Had a lot of fun talking to people. One big forum I like thats still pretty active is hltv, a forum dedicated to everything Counter Strike. And yes, its a cesspool of bad memes, inside jokes, very bad english, casual racidm, and general shitposts. I fucking loved it. That site cracked me up if i was feeling down after a bad day in college. When my 10K posts account got banned by a mod who was apparently more autistic than me and had less of a sense of humor a couple years ago, I called it quits.
I still go there sometimes to get brackets for tournaments and read some threads.
Mods are scientifically proven to be incapable of humor.
