I feel I need to put on a jacket every time I fly one. It's also the best small ship for hauling cargo, barring the Cobra mk4 which barely anyone can even touch. Adder is the smallest ship with a size 2 hard-point, enough to put a Plasma Accelerator on it. Like the Vulture, nimble and can bully bigger ships. Viper 3 also makes for an excellent racer thanks to its speed. Viper 4 is better for combat thanks to its higher durability, but the limited view hampers its effectiveness I feel. The Alliance 3 are good for combat in general, but you'd prolly wanna pack a module reinforcement or two. Lakon ships are notorious for their wide-open cockpits that are easy to target. Cutter beats out Type 9's max cargo by 4 whole tons. It is a better mining and combat ship, jumps farther and its shields can reach levels that brush off The Death Star's Super Laser. Both Eagles can excel at pack-hunting. Get 3 on a target while the 4 dodges, ducks, dips, dives, and dodges. Imperial Eagle with Pack Hounds is hilarious fun. Some would argue the Cobra is the best ship ever in the game. And for good reason. A lot of people sleep on Type 10, and when engineered, it's more nimble than she looks. The Dolphin is amazing as an insertion/getaway ship for Odyssey base missions. It runs super cool (stealthy), it's maneuverable and fast as hell, good jump range if engineered (50 ly), it can hold TWO srv hangars, and mount some good air-to-ground weapons. My favorite getaway car!
It can also stack a truly absurd amount of armor as a hull tank. I’ve got one I’ve been using to bust scouts in AX combat zones, give it two Salvation plasmas and just go to work. Got a second one I use as my go-to bubble bus. You can fully charge its FSD while fuel scooping and never overheat.

Taking your list into consideration. I like the Krait Phantom and MKII personally and have been using those for combat/mining and the Anaconda for planetary resource gathering for a couple years now.
Adder is the smallest and cheapest ship with the second seat, which might be relevant to people who want to make a point to have the cheapest possible shuttle to have capacity to move their friends around in Odyssey. Keelpback is the cheapest ship with the fighter hangar. Wouldn't recommend it, tho. Dolphin has the best internal capacity of all small pad ships if you don't have access to Cobra Mk.4. It also runs very cool and has decent jump range, which makes it fairly popular with explorers. Crusader is the only medium pad ship with 4 seats. Unremarkable otherwise. Clipper and Orca are effectively medium pad ships that require a large pad. Pretty neat ships if you can work with that. Type-7 really should be a medium pad ship too. This "stepping stone" thing doesn't really work any more when money is so easy to get. Also I would prefer to replace the boring Python. Krait is its superior in every respect except cargo and passengers. FDL and Mamba are kind of similar ships one first is agile and other is fast. Gankers seem to love to pair them when they work in a wing. FDL fights you and Mamba chases you. Their bad jump ranges and lack of internals makes me dislike them both. You should get that Corvette. Pretty much the best PvE ship, except against the Thargoids and some people make it work for that too.
Chieftain… love it! It’s my go to ship for most things. While most people use the challenger for things like AX, I stick with the chieftain. Maybe because it’s just my comfy ship, but I just love it. With the right mods you can get a shield tank, or a hull tank. Other ship I love is the phantom. I’m paranoid with being in the deep void and blowing up my SRV and being vehicle less. Along with that I like to have my Scarab, and my Scorpion. So I need a class 4+ slot and in things like the asp, you can run 2 srvs, but you just lack in other things that’s make life less convenient. The Krait Phantom allows you to have a lot of accessories so you’re prepared for what ever.
@@_The_Specter_ 63ly id ok... but obviously can be improved somehow. If you're going for a strictly exploration build, make sure you have most internals D rated. So, Krait Phantom rivals the Python in the "best multipurpose ship" category trading cargo space for raw jump range. If you ace the MkII, you have to do the same for Phantom. @7:36 -- You cannot mention this ship without mentioning the huge grind that comes with it (as you did for the Assault Ship) I just purchased an Asp Scout for liaison / USS duties, and it does quite well in this role. Cheap to operate. Think I will keep it. And as always, Engineering can make all the difference.
How a ship gets rated depends very much on how you use it. And whether you want to do a lot of engineering. As I do a lot of trading from/to medium landing pad stations, I rate the Phantom and Krait over the bigger ships. You can buy pre-engineered class 5 FSDs for them. For the Odyssey ground missions, smaller is better, and even the Sidewinder is a fun, useful ship.
I'd put the progression at DBX->AspX->Phantom. The bigger internals are pretty important for surviving in the black for a long time Going to anaconda is kinda optional after that. I don't think it's that well suited to exploration due to being less maneuverable and needing a big landing area.
Don't put yourself down bud. I watched it from beginning to end. I'm at the end game of Elite really, and wanted to find out what all of the ships were worth using. I've got the main set, but I only use about 4 out of the total roster. I have 9 billion in the bank, and want to spend money on ships, but only if I can find a worth for them.
I'm glad that I watched this, I'm bored of running courier/salvage missions in Asellus Primus in my Sidewinder. I've got $25M/200hrs and was going to purchase a Diamondback Explorer... but, now I think I'll get I Cobra Mk III and learn how to modify it properly. Exploration and Xenobiology is my ultimate goal. I've got Horizons and Odyssey.
Back in the days I flew an Anaconda which I maxed with engineering and man it was a hell of a ship, not many could survive to it. And for everything else than combat is also great. Used to play with my friends, one of them have a Federal Corvette which was also engineering to some extent (he had all the basics for combat), and both ships were almost on pair in combat. Yes the Corvetter was faster killer but the Anaconda was not very far away. Way cheaper and easier to get too.
Do you feel you flown these ships enough to rate them? Phantom and Type9 in B tier? Anaconda? And yet you rate the cutter so high as a trader? The hauler is a great bubble bus, so is the Dolphin.
Type 9 holds 40ish more cargo then a cutter 744-vs 704 The extra 40 make it just enough so you don't have to make two trips for some mining\locate goods missions.
Okay, Hauler is amazing as a taxi and makes the cheapest explorer. Definitely higher tier than Adder. Dropship is good for settlement attacks. Clipper is my favorite Core miner and makes a fun explorer. Dolphin is an amazing explorer and a good sneaky ship since it runs so cold. I managed to sneak through an Invasion system without being interdicted. Viper III is a good choice for first combat ship Anaconda require far less grinding than the Cutter, is much more agile than the T9, and is the best explorer if you to carry fighters and other special equipment. Viper IV is a nice ship settlement attacks - the higher armor keeps it alive longer than the cobra Federal Corvette is agile but not that fast, A PVE deathmachine, feeling like a small warship. Diamondback scout is good for running around the bubble, its not really an explorer.
cobra python and anaconda, the only ships you will ever need, however i have 18 overall just because i could, the hauler makes an excellent taxi, kit out a second python full of passenger cabins leave it out in robigo and use a hauler with an engineered frame shift drive to get in and out, the anaconda has the highest dps in the game, the corvette may have 2 huge hardpoints but the anaconda has 1 huge and 3 large, once my 2 medium and 2 small rapid fire pulse lasers take down the shields of an npc,. my 3 large and one huge over charged and over sized multi cannons will make any ship pop in under 10 seconds
If the ASP-X wrote the Star Map, the Python built the bubble. A 600 year old modular design that other ships built off of. The biggest cargo hold rivaling some large ships, the best armored medium, the best shielded medium, the best armed medium, and it's plenty good at other roles too. The python is the one ship to help you get all other ships. It's the Swiss army knife you need until you can afford the purpose built tools. It is the best medium ship. Everything else falls short.
idk if its a built issue but i always get the same jump range for everything, and maybe its just me not being a big explorer but i dont really see the phantom as better
@@_The_Specter_ If you're getting the same jump range for everything, then it's definitely a build issue. Regarding Asp X Vs Krait Phantom, the latter is capable of approx 10Ly more. In addition the Phantom has more optional internals which is a big advantage when it comes to long range exploration as it allows for limpet controllers, multiple Afmu's, etc.
The Hauler is THE BEST second ship, as it takes all the equipment from the Sidewinder and has a decent jump range. If you want to start exploring right out of the gate, the Hauler is the way to go. Then get a Cobra, next a DBX and the galaxy is your oyster. Don't look back. Don't I like your list? Sure I like it ! ! !
I LOVE the Courier for attending parties and stuff like that. It's a cool looking ship. I don't like the Python that much because I was spoiled with the Krait Mk 2. I do love the way it looks though. I LOVE my clipper for status flexes ; ) - Then i make up for my ostentatiousness by retrofitting it to do pax evac missions : ) - Also it's beautiful. I also haven't used the Krait Phatom but since i love the MkII... i dig it and it will probably replace my Asp one day. I can't stand the FDL for 2 reasons... 1. It _looks) silly...(like it should be on a Thunderbirds set)... and (2) Coz it was the pvp META back in the day... I don't own a drop ship, coz I got the Gun ship, but I like all of these - they look mean and they are practical. I haven't used the Challenger but i LOOOOVE my Crusader and by default, love the Chieftain too, although I haven't flown all 3.... They are AWESOME-looking and VERY good at combat. I just like the Vulture for how it looks and Nostalgia. Sometimes i just will use it for ferry flights just ...coz... : )P i got tired of commenting at this point.....but GREAT video! 🤙😁😎 Oh! Wait! Gotta say, i like my Viper for looks and speed... but then again... My Imperial Eagle might be my sexiest ship (for looks and i LOVE how it sounds ... that boost! Wooohoo! Oh yeh!_ Same with the MAMBA! I own one BECAUSE I CAN! For the same reason one might own a Ferrari! It's maybe the 2nd sexiest looking sports ship! How can you not like Crusader when it's almost as good as the others but CAN HAS FIGHTER BAY!!?! The Asp Explorer is the only ship of this type i'll talk about coz i LOVE it... It's half nostalgia and half coz it's my exploration ship and i think it looks reall cool.
I've flown all of them. I hate the Anaconda, it's such a Mary Sue with its magic superlight hull, but it's God tier. These are my tiers: God: Anaconda (exploration, combat, trading), Krait MkII (everything but better at combat than Python), Python (best mining ship), Fer de Lance (best pure combat ship). A tier: Cutter (this could go in God tier it is the best trading and large mining ship), Corvette (best PVE/hazrez combat), Phantom (best mid sized explorer), Explorer (best cheap and small explorer and taxi) B tier: Asp (budget explorer and multipurpose)... I could go on but let me jump to absolute crap:, Cobra MkIV, Viper MkIV. There are a ton of ships that used to be good but have been superseded by other ships. The Scout sucks except for PVP combat.
@@_The_Specter_ I remember when I was first getting into the game, everyone said that the next ship to get after an adder was the Cobra MK3. But that thing just didn't do what I needed it to. You couldn't really take advantage of its hardpoints because they were way too far apart. I ended up trying the Diamondback Scout after that and never looked back.
Phantom deserves A tear, can be made to jump over 74ly, hardpoints are decent enough for some serious combat (i have annax phantom that has killed ober 1000 goids so far. Imagine a mk 2 that is lightweight, fast and nimble, can jump a ton but lacks a hardpoint and slf bay. Vulture is the best tiny combat ship out there, so it deserves at least A, hauler is every commander's first actually jumping ship, put in acount cost and overalll performance of the ships... Rating can be re-done after yyou gain more experience with all the ships. I would invite you to check out my vulture, orca and phantom as examples.
Tip for the vids; Sound confident, have details outside just what you've used and how. State where your placing it, the reasons why, then explain the reasons why. ie, "This ship is B tier. It's a small, nimble ship primarily catering to combat focused play. With X medium and Y small hardpoints, and a good convergence to go with it's agility and speed, it's an ideal start for small-game bounty hunting. That said, outside of combat, the ship has abysmal storage capability, sporting Military Slots instead of standard."
1 billion credits is nothing basically, you can't even buy a carrier with this amount of money. Oh and big combat ships usually cost around 900 millions, so.. Yeah that's not money anymore. xD
Anaconda in B, Cutter in A... I know Imperial scum when I see one!!! But seriously, Cutter is better than Conda only because of cargo and shield cap. 7th power distributer, poor jump, fixed guns aren't even an option for most of the slots, and also this thing is *massive* - landing it is a torture. All in all, it's a glorified Type 9 with a blue bubble. I'd swap them, placing Cutter in B.
2,000 hours. my channel sucked back then, gimme a break. lol jokes aside i still haven’t used the anaconda a lot back then, and havent engineered all of it, so i guess its mb for insufficient research. anyways the entire tier list was improvised without any scripts/notes so yes it was garbage.
Sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I guess I got carried away bc in my view Conda might be the best ship (jump range, survivability, versatility) in the whole game lol. But that's subjective. I appreciate your effort to make an all in all, nicely presented video!
You are forgiven for being so damn boring. I was waiting for the end credits easter egg and all I got was some self deprecation. You still somehow managed to bleed a like out of me ;)
Clearly this is just an opinion video. Python "godly"? Hardly. It's B at best. The Anaconda has the best engineered jump range out of ALL the ships. The only ship that can jump further is a fleet carrier. This dude probably only plays in solo or a PVE server.
Idk why people rag on the python. It is the best Multipurpose ship after the Cobras. Tons of hard points, Massive amounts of cargo space, decent jump range, and easy access to ANY space port in the galaxy. Fdev had to develop SLFs, new ships, and game play to make the python seem less God tier. The funny part is, if you don't play with goids or find the new ships better in any way....they aren't, well then Python is the answer. You need 2-3 ships to equal the Python in anything. God tier bar none.
UPDATE: This video got a lot of critism. I plan to make a better tierlist AFTER using a lot of the ships mentioned here (Krait Phantom and iCourier especially) and have better reasoning.
Clearly this is a list for "you", not helpfull for others, should not make a tierlist if you have no experience of the ships or the game, useless video.

Viper III is a good choice for first combat ship
Anaconda require far less grinding than the Cutter, is much more agile than the T9, and is the best explorer if you to carry fighters and other special equipment.
Viper IV is a nice ship settlement attacks - the higher armor keeps it alive longer than the cobra
Federal Corvette is agile but not that fast, A PVE deathmachine, feeling like a small warship.
Nice work. Some of the best internet comedy out there. I laughed until I puked.
You lost me when you started gushing about the Python. It's an OK ship, but if it was anywhere near godly it'd be able to fit a SLF hanger.
Krait Phantom is an asp explorer but better in every single way. there is no reason to ever rate an asp over the explorer.
This ☝️
idk if its a built issue but i always get the same jump range for everything, and maybe its just me not being a big explorer but i dont really see the phantom as better
@@_The_Specter_ If you're getting the same jump range for everything, then it's definitely a build issue.
Regarding Asp X Vs Krait Phantom, the latter is capable of approx 10Ly more. In addition the Phantom has more optional internals which is a big advantage when it comes to long range exploration as it allows for limpet controllers, multiple Afmu's, etc.
asp has a better cockpit and is far less expensive
@@clockwork6966 yeah, exactly! i just dont get why people complain about it, the Krait and Asp feel the same
The Hauler is THE BEST second ship, as it takes all the equipment from the Sidewinder and has a decent jump range. If you want to start exploring right out of the gate, the Hauler is the way to go. Then get a Cobra, next a DBX and the galaxy is your oyster.
Don't look back.
Don't I like your list? Sure I like it ! ! !
New players, ignore this video. lmfao
i got tired of commenting at this point.....but GREAT video! 🤙😁😎
Oh! Wait!
Gotta say, i like my Viper for looks and speed... but then again... My Imperial Eagle might be my sexiest ship (for looks and i LOVE how it sounds ... that boost! Wooohoo! Oh yeh!_
Same with the MAMBA!
It's half nostalgia and half coz it's my exploration ship and i think it looks reall cool.
me too, the AspX is OP
krait phantom is one of the best ships in the game for explo. Fsat, jumps far and don't need to deal with landing a conda
Raves about Python and then decides Krait is "B tier".... even though they have almost identical stat's. 🤔
I come on every single elite tier vid to simp for the DBS. The DBS is not an exploration ship, it's a combat ship. It's basically a better Viper MkIII
why do u like the DBS that much that you simp for it? lol
@@tekwerk so thats the Cobra MkIII alternative for you, i see now
Phantom deserves A tear, can be made to jump over 74ly, hardpoints are decent enough for some serious combat (i have annax phantom that has killed ober 1000 goids so far.
Tip for the vids;
Sound confident, have details outside just what you've used and how.
Thank you! I was looking for a format like this, and you saved me here.
Excellent presentation, but I cannot agree!! With any!! of these!!😂🤪
@specterelite do you still play? I just came back after years away. Id love to have someone to play with.
yep, i do, but i do not have a lot of time on the weekdays, unfortunately
8:17 “i don’t really use it much though becuase i’m running out of money”
_has over 1 billion credits_
sarcasm lol
1 billion credits is nothing basically, you can't even buy a carrier with this amount of money.
Oh and big combat ships usually cost around 900 millions, so.. Yeah that's not money anymore. xD
@@CMDR_RileyAngel _cries in 90 million credits_
@@CMDR_RileyAngel im barely worth over 2 billion lol… less and half the way to a carrier
no idea about the ships, but put together a list
Lol c tier vulture feels like a war crime.
I can confirm the Corvette is God tier 😉
Anaconda in B, Cutter in A... I know Imperial scum when I see one!!!
But seriously, Cutter is better than Conda only because of cargo and shield cap. 7th power distributer, poor jump, fixed guns aren't even an option for most of the slots, and also this thing is *massive* - landing it is a torture. All in all, it's a glorified Type 9 with a blue bubble. I'd swap them, placing Cutter in B.
Adder is best PvP ship
totally
Anaconda in B / C ?? Gimme a break 🙄 how many hrs have you played ED?
2,000 hours. my channel sucked back then, gimme a break. lol
jokes aside i still haven’t used the anaconda a lot back then, and havent engineered all of it, so i guess its mb for insufficient research. anyways the entire tier list was improvised without any scripts/notes so yes it was garbage.
You still somehow managed to bleed a like out of me ;)
yea mb this video was like ass when i made it
Dude, it's perfect.@@_The_Specter_
Lol TRY the ships before you rate them, this is IGN level..
Clearly this is just an opinion video. Python "godly"? Hardly. It's B at best. The Anaconda has the best engineered jump range out of ALL the ships. The only ship that can jump further is a fleet carrier.
This dude probably only plays in solo or a PVE server.
When I saw Anaconda on B tier I stopped watching...
Phantom B tier.... Ranking Z tier...
Is it not worth thinking this through BEFORE you start recording a video?
yeah i know but i aint spending 50 years grinding for the federal corvette
@@_The_Specter_ not AT ALL what I implied.
@@ZuriekJT yeah yeah ill make an updated version after 50 years of grinding for the corvy
@@_The_Specter_ Friend, grinding and thinking are not the same thing.
@@ZuriekJT “friend” sarcasm there
Clearly this is a list for "you", not helpfull for others, should not make a tierlist if you have no experience of the ships or the game, useless video.
yes i know, it was 10 months ago jeez gimme a break lol
Wrong game for a tier list.
you hearf first you must have yours expression and decision and only then Create good Ship Game Guide lol Thumbs down
Yo wsg specter is this on roblox, bc i play mc and stuff
Did you seriously just ask if elite is a Roblox game
why does everyone think games they don’t know are roblox?
