I was present for the Gnosis incident as were thousands of others. Don't feel like going over it all again as it was a massive fuck up on FDEV's part and others have explained it better than me before. Here's the key points anyways in somewhat chronological order. Col 70 Sector was largely locked by the Unknown Permit, permit, some systems in Col 70 were not locked with this permit and could, in theory be reached but were outside the range of player piloted ships. These systems have been locked since the limited flight closed beta test (Players were locked to a 100ly bubble, there were ways to get out however, some systems were explored and claimed early because of this.) The Gnosis was a player faction owned Mega ship, controlled by the Cannon Institute. Cannon had to regularly submit flight Itinierys to Frontier, monthly, for approval AND implementation into the game, these itinierys could be denied and either the Gnosis would not move for a month, if none was approved, or another submitted. FDEV was, as is still the prevailing theory, working on a staff of 1-3 people, colloquially called the interns, during this time as the entirety of FDEV was focused on Planet Coaster and that jurrasic flop tie in. FDEV approved the flight plan. Cannon announced the expedition to Col 70 We had record high player counts as old players can back and new players joined to partake in an actual historical event. I mean it actually broke the record at the time on the steam charts for most concurrent players. Now for first hand accounts. One month later, right before the servers go down for the weekly update, where the Gnosis will jump. I and thousands of others are sitting on the Gnosis waiting for the server to go down, hoping to be the first pilots out of the hangers, some of us in AX ships, others in miners, combat, or exploration. Who didnt want to get their name on the first discoverd or first mapped tag of a planet or system in Col 70? We could reach other systems from the planned target too if you had the jump range. Hell people were willing to potentially be stranded in system if they logged off outside the Gnosis, like seriously stuck in Col 70 with no way out other than suicdewinders. What happens instead? FDEV releases a galnet article over an ***HOUR*** early. Detailing how the Gnosis has been hyperdicted and attacked by thargoids, how some "brave commanders" lead them away from the megaship with a trail of meta alloys and how everyone on the Gnosis was now *fucked*. They took away all player agency in the event, set up by the community after over a year of no new content, then said it was the players who saved the ship in a fucking text post released *early*. I was online when we saw that article go live, sitting in the hanger in a newly kitted AX FDL. I didn't care if we got stuck in Col 70 I wanted to fuck around in there for a month and be out later. Regardless they ALSO forgot to remove the No Fire zone around the Gnosis which resulted in hundreds of AX pilots who attempted to fight off the bugs to let others get out being shot down by the Gnosis' own anti ship weapons and sending them a couple thousand lightyears to a penal facility on the OTHER side of Col 70, most of them without a fuel scoop! It was so bad that FDEV opened a new ticket line for people who got shafted by their own incompetence to be moved back to a major system of their choice in the bubble if they got killed by the Gnosis along with a refund on their ship and return of any crew lost, this was back when dying meant the death of your fighter pilot. They could have let us sit in Col 70 for a month with nothing happening and we would have been fine with it. They could have made a closed PVE event in the sector as well, but no, they chose to, at the last minute, move the Gnosis and everyone aboard 17.2 light years, and surround the ship in thargoids that the ship cant even protect you from. In the short time I stayed I saw dozens of commaders log in, launch, and promptly explode on the pad before they got released because they were in mining ships and exploration ships. I had armor and speed and just bailed, and proceded to spend 4 hours slowly flying back to Orang with a class 1A fuelscoop. I logged out and didn't play the game again for over a year after that. The game had a record *low* player count the next week. If they had done this right it would have been an event to protect the Gnosis as it traverses Col 70 with a weekly CG for everyone aboard to defend her, defeat thargoids, and supply her with raw materials from the systems she traversed. Instead we got hit over the head for trying to do something ourselves instead of letting 'the narrative' play out (only took 3 fucking years). What's so bad about that Thargoid attack on that ship? Could players not respawn or what was the issue? I mean, the idea of Thargoids attacking the ship and wiping players out would be nice to me - it's a gamble everyone in space should be prepared for. Could you clarify?
If you attempted to fight back near the ship you would accrue a bounty from firing within the no fire zone, as such when you died you would be moved to the nearest detention center, on the other side of the Col 70 sector. Eventually this no fire zone was removed but any stray shots hitting the Gnosis would still accrue the bounty and it was incredibly easy to miss a thargoid and strike another player or the Gnosis in the fighting. Interceptors and Scouts would also spawn constantly so there was no way to 'secure' an instance.@@kontoname

Not something that belongs as part of the iceberg, but in the Bubble, there's a system called Bob. Nothing fancy, just Bob. It's discovered, so you can search for it on your galaxy map. I just thought it was odd when I went through it on my way somewhere else (don't remember where).

Great stuff. Keep up the great work. Just a helpful FYI that your mike sound quality varies greatly over the vid, very loud in some places (the initial minute of audio) and very quiet (5:25) in others. Might be an idea to run normalization over the audio and review it before uploading.

At some point, I can’t remember when (been playing since release), there was an additional Raxxla rumor… It was going around that FDev or someone said that a player has passed through the system that contains Raxxla. Rumor for sure but fun to think about.
That it was said, is not a rumour, I was there. This comes from a Frontier FAQ panel at a Lavecon event in either 2016 or 2017. While Lavecon was streamed on Twitch, the Frontier FAQ panels were not streamed at their request which is why it's hard to verify this. It was said by either Sandro Sammarco or Michael Brookes when asked about Raxxla being in the game. My memory is a little vague, but I was there when it was said. "Raxxla is in the game, a player honked the system and jumped out." This is referring to before scanning systems was updated to how it works now. At the time all you needed was an advanced discovery scanner and using it would reveal every planet in the system and what type it was. There was no way to surface scan at the time. When it had scanned, it made a honk sound, and was called "honking". Whether or not they were telling the truth about a player passing through and whether or not they were telling the truth about Raxxla being in Elite Dangerous, we will never know.

Even then, once you leave the bubble, even by a couple hundred LY there are systems that haven't even been fully scanned let alone DSS'd

Also, the system called "Landscape"...I was looking at the picture and I noticed that "it" kinda' looked like one of those "Magic pictures" that turn 3-D when you focus your eyes in the right way... I tried to focus, but my eyes are a little messed up...😎. (Whaddyou mean I flew into a sun?? There aint no sun there!.....oh.) I played way way back in the 80's... The EU effectively works like pre Civil war America. Prior to the US civil war the federal government was far weaker and every state had far more sovereignty. Just like the EU the US started out as a federation of independent states. This is why all US states have their own constitutions and federal power is still somewhat restricted.
from Wikipedia it said that Triton has a very tiny atmosphere and is wayyy outside the goldilocks zone for life to evolve… i doubt that theres life there, but possibly some top-secret Federation stuff
Yes it is way too small to have an atmosphere and well outside the goldilocks zone, but if under ice sheets there are oceans and those oceans have geovolcanic geysers, it could very likely posses small colonies of extremophiles or cellular life near those thermal vents. Something likely discovered in pre-2200 and now in 3309 it'd well known or well hidden being that close to Earth.

I like to think the Triton permit is kind of a reference to the book and movie “2010”. In those, the Monoliths state “All these worlds are yours - except Europa. Attempt no landing there.” So maybe instead of Europa, the developers chose Triton as a reference to that.
Triton is a military testing ground used by the Federation. The game will tell you this directly if you look at the body in the system map. Some bodies will have literate descriptions, as do some systems in the galaxy map, like Sol, Lave or Leesti
I think the oseer actually used raxxala (seemingly a guardian make space time gate) to go back in time and take over the constructs and use them to kill the guardians off so he/they could take control of all the tech. Maybe even the prime timeline all the guardians died off killing each other in there civil war but when the oseer changed the timeline and took the constructs it created the events allowing for human race to be created as we probably are guardians kind of rebooted. Maybe the club is just guardians of old guiding our rebirth so they could keep control. Maybe the oseer is just in a book and not in elite at all but this is my wack theory.

The Panther Clipper is likely to be added, but it might be waiting for the right update. As most people know, there are Class 8 versions of a lot of the modules in certain stations, yet no ship in the game can use a Class 8 module of any kind. This could be for the PCLX, which might just be downgraded to a Large landing pad (to prevent FDev from having to make a brand new pad size), but would have larger modules that cost a fortune.
Played it since 2019 on an off but when i look at the grind to play todays content I think 'Life to short'... They say its only a grind if you make it, but WTF to get a ship that can even begin to go there you need a ton of off game searching just to begin to go there, just to a grind fest some more..... Meh

The EU effectively works like pre Civil war America. Prior to the US civil war the federal government was far weaker and every state had far more sovereignty. Just like the EU the US started out as a federation of independent states. This is why all US states have their own constitutions and federal power is still somewhat restricted.

Yes it is way too small to have an atmosphere and well outside the goldilocks zone, but if under ice sheets there are oceans and those oceans have geovolcanic geysers, it could very likely posses small colonies of extremophiles or cellular life near those thermal vents. Something likely discovered in pre-2200 and now in 3309 it'd well known or well hidden being that close to Earth.

I like to think the Triton permit is kind of a reference to the book and movie “2010”. In those, the Monoliths state “All these worlds are yours - except Europa.

So maybe instead of Europa, the developers chose Triton as a reference to that.
Triton is a military testing ground used by the Federation. The game will tell you this directly if you look at the body in the system map. Some bodies will have literate descriptions, as do some systems in the galaxy map, like Sol, Lave or Leesti

I think the oseer actually used raxxala (seemingly a guardian make space time gate) to go back in time and take over the constructs and use them to kill the guardians off so he/they could take control of all the tech.
Maybe even the prime timeline all the guardians died off killing each other in there civil war but when the oseer changed the timeline and took the constructs it created the events allowing for human race to be created as we probably are guardians kind of rebooted. Maybe the club is just guardians of old guiding our rebirth so they could keep control.
Maybe the oseer is just in a book and not in elite at all but this is my wack theory.

The Panther Clipper is likely to be added, but it might be waiting for the right update. As most people know, there are Class 8 versions of a lot of the modules in certain stations, yet no ship in the game can use a Class 8 module of any kind. This could be for the PCLX, which might just be downgraded to a Large landing pad (to prevent FDev from having to make a brand new pad size), but would have larger modules that cost a fortune.
The clipper begs to differ with 2 class 8 slots
Played it since 2019 on an off but when i look at the grind to play todays content I think 'Life to short'... They say its only a grind if you make it, but WTF to get a ship that can even begin to go there you need a ton of off game searching just to begin to go there, just to a grind fest some more..... Meh
