I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.

Having a Service Dog comes with not so clever people asking to pet them, or other Questions or comments. I just say "Shes working" and move on. I dont always want to educate folks. I get it totally. I'd rather my Service Dog be with me and deal with the issues, than leave with out her. You have each other so it's easier to leave her behind. I hope you take her with you more. The bond will be so much stronger. Thanks for sharing your adventures in NOLA.
I’ve seen people with signs on their dogs saying “I’m a service dog. please don’t pet me.” That may be a good idea. It saves wasted time having to educate people. I honestly didn’t know you weren’t supposed to pet service dogs til pretty recently.
I have family in Nawlins and it’s a great place to visit. A real party city!!! So good to virtually be there. I miss it. Hi family!! When this pandemic is over I’ll he coming for a true visit.

I'm all for adovacting for better better infastructer, acessability, and funding to go into the constant matenience our sinking city needs to keep going. Save travels! Instead, I think it provides people an illusion of safety that just doesn't exist without isolation and medical-grade masks. For many, the best thing is to get COVID and survive because the vaccines aren't totally limiting the spread like initial claims. And a good thing about getting it and making it through is that you have some level of immunity (CDC states at least 8 months). Combine that with a vaccine dose, and that's about the best thing you can do to lessen your odds of serious illness.

Yes NOLA is a blast in a power chair. I was there two years ago in a culinary food tour and most things were accessible to me. I hated when the curb cuts were destroyed or I could not tell how deep a pot hole was and had to ease off the curb. My power chair can go over a 2” curb without problem, but not more than that. Enjoy your trip.
