Update - I went back through the Demo and found some pretty cool things in it. (Easter Egg to Dark Sector) So I think I overreacted alil but I still stand by some of my points. :))
Honestly, that extermination mission is more than enough of a demo if you took the time to look around. I managed to spot so much detail that i could hardly believe they don't have the full update ready right now! Also, for the context of getting to try out the new weapons and enemy types, an exterminate mission is somewhat perfect.
Maybe this is more like play-test. I didn't leave Holvania till I was satisfied though. I was milking the experience. I wish they would raise the invisible ceiling though. I was ninjaing on top of buildings but there are rooftops I couldn't even reach. Just because of this setting, wall-dashing and bullet-jumping feels more powerful than it usually is.
DE *Did* warn that it'd just be an exterminate. trust me, I wish there was more. GoDDDD i wish there was more. like maybe a boss fight at the end. but DE's pretty damn busy these days and they're under a lot of pressure to deliver a huge amazing update. I'm thankful we got anything at all, and they were pretty clear about the messaging on this mission, compared to Lotus Eaters. I think the community is coming at this with too high expectations, which they should be saving for 1999's release proper. Just a bit longer, :)
I actually liked that they didn't show us too much of what's coming.. I don't want a lot of the update to be spoiled. I know everyone is excited and wants to play everything now, but we need to wait a little bit more for the good stuff to come all together.
The only thing missing from Lotus-Eaters was saying Prologue after the name of it, which both Apostasy and Chimera both have. This at least says "DEMO". There are legitimate full game demos that don't last this long or have this much content in them. Granted, yes, this is barely anything, I'm not saying we need to bow at DE's feet and worship their generosity, but I don't know how much clearer they needed to be that this was just a demo preview. Related to this, I saw someone on Twitter the other day say they were disappointed about the Koumei update because "they were expecting something as big as Whispers in the Walls." And, I'd really like to see the exact place that made them think that because I'm plugged into most avenues DE uses to communicate with us, and NOWHERE was the Koumei update made to sound anywhere close to being as big as Whispers in the Walls was. A new mission (made for newer players), one new Frame, two new weapons, a couple new mods, a sprinkle of lore, and a heap of quality of life and reworks. No quest. Exactly as advertised.
I agree that Lotus Eaters was a bit short, but I have to disagree about the demo being *too* short. I think its a great demo, cause its essentially a tech demo for 1999. You already see what kinds of optimizations and fixes they'll need to do.
nah you didn't look around, you can jump on the roofs n stuff of the buildings and walk around in alleyways n stuff it's really nice the tileset is fking cool
It was a basic mission wasn't any info or play play to get you wanting more. The bike was very hard to drive handle more like a k drive than a motor bike
I was definitely expecting some story teasers or character interactions with the the new squad introduced, or even the tank boss we saw but this was alright too. Don't get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoyed the tile set and new enemy faction but there should've been something else. Worries me a bit about the length of 1999 update ngl.
There are also some rooms with furniture and when you do a ground slam the furniture doesn't break but flies around all over. One is near the end, about 30 meters from the end on the right I think.
Yes, it's just a demo. I didn't want to play it at first because I wanted to experience everything in one update, but they had to lure me with that sword skin 😄 The tileset is nice, although the map is very small. Hopefully the enemies aren't that weak in the real game 😊 And I'm glad that they didn't spoil the story.
Honestly i think this is just a performance demo, very useful for some of the older consoles/PC to see how well the current build runs. And if you were playing on Xbox One, not very well. However they did mention on the last dev stream that the are aware of the performance issues on Xbox One and are working on it. So fingers crossed they get it figured out before 1999 is released

Ye ye
I saw a HUGE Fuckin fereis wheel and the stadium from Tennocon too

I wanted to take a pic as well from the top of the buildings, you can see a big wheel as well as some towers.
Im pretty sure they will, they made the map much smaller for the demo.

it was crazy to try and control it lmao
Love the excalibur❤
It couldn’t have been the demo from Tennocon because that demo was very anachronistic to the quest itself
it's a demo isn't it? it's not the actual quest
Yep

I haven’t watched this vid yet but when o saw the 1999 demo I just had the feeling Lloyd made a video on it
it was short but sweet, can't wait for the release
