Fun fact: The country of Suriname is one of the most truly multicultural countries in the world due to the way that all these different cultures have mixed into a new society, and the only one that has a synagogue, a church and a mosque in its centre right next to one another! - If a Dutch speaker asks you if you're from Nederland see that as a compliment that your Dutch pronunctiation is very understandable. KEEP PRACTICING IT! We love it when someone tries to speak our language (Even when we reply in English)! Fun Fact 2: In Holland when we say - Ik ga naar de Chinees - we mean the Chinese restaurant. Obviously, in Suriname people would more likely think you're going grocery shopping due to alot of the grocery stores in Paramaribo! :P Lastly - Sranan Tongo is like a mixture between dutch and english, asian and african words so you might sometimes even understand sranan tongo (Dog = hond = dagu) Loved this video it brought me back to my stay in Suriname, you went to all the places with everyone - love the Suriname hospitality, I love to see more!

Here is a crazy thing; Recently since August of 2021, I have been dreaming of this place or a place like it, that I am visiting for the first time. I am from Puerto Rico but Covid restrictions and crime rate make Puerto Rico kind of difficult to visit right now, so I am dreaming of another Caribbean place to see and enjoy since I can not return home right now. One day when I dreamed I was visiting some locals in this strange non Puerto Rican yet Caribbean place, I saw mostly African people and some mixed of East Indian like Trinidad and Tobago. I woke up with the name of the country Suriname, Suriname.. Very strange because I have never heard of this little Country until I dream about it.. What is God trying to tell here?
You probably have family ties with this country that connects to your bloodline that happens to me a lot too I dream about many different places and sometimes it repeats God is telling you to

Great video, it was really fun to watch. Dutch is spoken in the Netherlands, Suriname and also in Belgium. What a nice vibe , I feel when you have a mix of people , you get the best people. Keep up the good work Tommy, gives me hope for the future.
How cool ... Tommy's back.... this is a treat... and in countries.... I'd never seen or had a tour .... I'm as excited as you are Tommy.
I was not feeling well today, stuck in bed. But your videos are uplifting and so interesting. You bring out the best in everybody.
Nice and chill country. Thanks Tom for showing us a country many of us did not know existed.Greetings from Nairobi Kenya.
It is the obligation of all Africans to know where the slave trade took their ancestors. You can no go through life been so uninformed about the rest of the world. It is this stupid ignorance of the rest of the world that led to the horrible enslavement of the Africans.
I never knew this country existed, itis amazing what I am learning from you. I love it.
Believe me you are not the only one, live in the US and was born in Surinam and when I tell people where I am from, they look at me lost? When I say Dutch Guyana it rings a bell!
Love your videos man. Especially when you give you a little tours and do a little education on the people and the cultures I really appreciate that😎👍🏾
In the Netherlands we luckily have a lot of Surinam restaurants and delivery services, and also a lot of Indonesian restaurants. I love both. I hope one day I can taste some good food and have some sight seeing in beautiful Suriname. People seems nice and relaxt. By the way, your Dutch is pretty good for a first try. You can use it also in South-Africa where quite some people speak Afrikaner, which is in fact old Dutch.I love roti and other Surinam dishes. In
Greetings from Belgium, we try to speak dutch over here as well...
Lol
😂🤣🤣
We know that our language isn't the easiest one, so we forgive the people from Belgium if they make some mistakes 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 best comment
België mag er ook zijn hoor, maar Nederland is toch altijd beter😁😂
I watch a lot of travel vlogs. This guy is just next level. Incredible content.
I'm excited by your content again. You look in your element, learning a new language and meeting a diverse friendly population and without a security guard. Can't wait to see their villages.
What the taxi driver at his apartment said isn't true. People speak Dutch in South Africa, The Netherlands, Suriname, The Antilles, Indonesia, Belgium, and even in Canada there are some places where they speak Dutch.
What a great blend of cultures, the Dutch language is lovely to listen to. I am very jealous of your ability to pick up languages with such ease. Your videos never fail to disappoint, such a natural at mingling with the locals and providing great content.
Adorable haircut. I really admire your posts. It's like a 30 minute therapy session where it switches my mental state into traveling.
Man you speak so many languages, you're a genius dude. Respect and keep on the great job !
mann i love ur learning the local languages where you go!! your pronunciation in dutch is near perfect! sure u need some practice but the basis is there! and your chinese sounds great too, though i dont speak too much
its so fun seeing you go up to the locals and speaking their languages... i was watching alot of (and even working) alot with laoshu5050000 and it wouldve been so cool to see him travel.
its honestly amazing seeing you interact with the locals it reminded me of my time with moses. thank you for that
Looks a lot more relaxing than the other cities you have been. Becareful out there. Respect from Long Island
Duuuude! You keep amazing with your language skills. I'm Belgian (3rd country that speaks Dutch BTW) and the casual Cantonese conversation was balls! I want at least 2x30min videos a week from you, man. I want to keep watching your new adventures. Take good care en hou het veilig XD
Theres many countries with Dutch dialects educate yourself check Afrikaans in South Africa its 90% Dutch 10% taal they created on their ow.
@@phumzilexolo17 Yeah I know, don't need to "educate" myself on that lol but doesn't really count as Dutch, does it...
@@phumzilexolo17 bro look at you’re own writing…
Such an amusing and interesting video Tommy. You've got the right formula. Thanks.
Great video bro!! Thank you for showing us the real people and the real life in these places you visit! keep it up!
Your Dutch pronounciation is really good.
Lastly - Sranan Tongo is like a mixture between dutch and english, asian and african words so you might sometimes even understand sranan tongo (Dog = hond = dagu)
Loved this video it brought me back to my stay in Suriname, you went to all the places with everyone - love the Suriname hospitality, I love to see more!
This is a good one. I love their architecture and cleanliness
Ha ha, that was funny
did you see the cleanliness guy urinating? 17:24
@@rerunplaya532 same in Europe and USA come and see for yourself
Cleanliness? lol who's gonna tell em :)

Welcome to my birthplace. God bless you. Watching from St.Maarten./ Dutch Caribbean.
Nice...I enjoyed that vlog. I personally know mr "djoe" as he called himself :P I am glad that we (surinamese) treat you well here on your project. Make it worth it, you will enjoy the hospitality, food and jungle. I got to warn you, "Do not get addicted with the food" and the jungle. Tourists gets addicted on their next visit mostly on the food and the jungle and get overweight with joy and wonderful experience- hahaha. Can't wait for the next vlog...Jungle.

Hi, man! I watch your videos! I like your channel. I am in Suriname too.
Your Dutch is pretty good actually. It made me laugh so hard when you said “Dankjewel mijn vriend” and the guy looked back at you so confused hahaha

Good job Tommy! Always look forward to seeing your videos.
God says GO!
You probably have family ties with this country that connects to your bloodline that happens to me a lot too I dream about many different places and sometimes it repeats God is telling you to
That's God guiding you to new places. Go!
God's way of telling u to go visit Paradise
Why do you think God has something to do with it?! Its your subconscious.
Surinam is the only country in the Americas where a kind of Hindi still is spoken. It is called "Sarnami" and derived from Bhojpuri, Avadhi and Magahi dialects with some Dutch influence
So does Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago
@@MrAfusensi The language is not spoken any more in Guyana and Trindad. The Indian people in these countries speak only English
@@alfonsmelenhorst9672 it is not perse hindi. It is more it's own language.
@@apeman9238 That is why "a kind of Hindi" :)
@@midnitelion5238 still it is not hindi.
Thanks for the great video. Suriname looks like a very interesting country and I hope that you show us more of this country.

Your videos are very nice man! Thanks for making them.
A tour of the museum would have been interesting I guess
Dont stay up to late he says while I am watching it at 4:30 AM and can sleep about 3,5 hours 😅
First vid I saw from you and it had me hooked all the way.
Je Nederlands klinkt best goed 👍
Amazing video crazy it’s crazy u can go somewhere with no fear of a new culture
Thank you for sharing🙏🏼❤️🇸🇷
VAAK! You almost "raided" the Parliament of Suriname 😆. Another very interesting and informative video. Enjoyed seeing all the different Asian communities in Suriname. Tommy, if you're having difficulty with Dutch, then there's no hope for the rest of us. You're a linguistical master. You just need to practice. I think Sranan Tongo will be a little easier for you. You earned that Parbo beer. Small world! 47?!? I.D. that man!
Veilige reizen
Vaak is Dutch for "sleepy"
@@rayfourie6806 vaak means often.
@@apeman9238 Very old word for sleepy as well, but hardly any one knows that here in the Netherlands.
@@hydeparkist Funny. In German "wach" would be the same meaning as the English "wake" which is opposite of sleepy.
@@SolomonSunder Same with 'See' in german and 'meer' in Dutch, which both mean lake, where 'Mer' is sea in french....
Nice dude. Thanks for making me feel like just a normal guy traveling and experiencing new places.
Watching your vlog at the end of a stressful day , man I can't thank u enough. The vibe is amazing. 😂 Cant wait to see you eat porotta and beef one day while conversing in Malayalam .
Great video, it was really fun to watch.
Dutch is spoken in the Netherlands, Suriname and also in Belgium. The in South Africa spoken language of Afrikaans is kind of like an Africanised version of 17/18th century Dutch. I can understand quite a lot.
Dutch is also one of the closest languages to English as both are western-gernanic languages. This also includes Frisian (spoken in the Friedland profince in northern Netherlands), the privious mentioned Afrikaans language and German.
💯💯💯💯
Respect for picking up the language so quickly!
I live in suriname and my country has every culture ( ik woon in suriname en it heeft alle culturen ) 🇸🇷❤😘
