For a _kid's_ show that's painfully inconsistent, that's great attention to detail. Love it.
I'm conflicted about this because I like the lightheartedness that this series being aimed at younger kids brings But on the other hand, seeing the grittier side of what XANA's capable of, the romantic subplots being (slightly) less awkward due to the kids being older, topped off with fully resolved arcs not cut short due to budget cuts? Sign me tf up
Let's just hope Rebirth doesn't suck. If it does well or decent, that should revive the community for a while, maybe even convince some people to bring the show back officially, in a way.

Jeremy's dad is the best, doesn't even question what's going on with his son and is just like "I get it, dw go find your girlfriend". Meanwhile Yumi's mum wouldn't even let her call Aelita till she'd helped with the jobs, and Ulrichi's dad is clearly just an ass. I think we can see who has the parents of the group (who's parents are shown, since I don't think we ever meet Odd's parents)
Blazeknight7 actually the only time when we get to meet Odd's perents is in episode 91 "Bad Connection", and they are just as supportive and understanding as Jeremy's dad.
I like how this episode really let us compare the different environments the lyoko warriors were raised in. I knew Ulrich wasn't on good terms with his parents, but I never would have imagined he'd just walk out of the car like that without a good excuse. Really shows their relationship.

The transition is rarely good in this episode. They always end on an extremely incomplete way. Like in this episode, it felt extremely incomplete because Jeremie just suggested that she should go with him to dinner in the holiday but instead she didn't seem interested in that or any of the gifts. A logical and a better conclusion would be that she says her last line then Jeremie assures her that they will bring him to Earth one day staring at the light or the sky then the episode ends. Just saying. They don't know how to end an episode that's for sure.
Come on Aelita you should atleast already told Yumi you were going to Lyoko. Why do you always gotta perpetuate this damsel in distress thing. Youve known going to Lyoko alone was a bad idea since season 2...

When I first saw this episode I thought: We're finally getting back to the backstory! Then the series ended 13 episodes later. Now if the writers had resolved the backstory, then we wouldn't be clamoring for a revival. And yet, here we are.
I know that, I have the novels. However, while they were written with the origin documents at hand, several factors were changed and the novels fall into an alternate continuity. Evolution is only loosely based off documents Sophie Decroisette wrote when the project started out. Apparently, very few of them made into the final product. One idea was that Hopper's true enemy was a dormant scientist who tried to take advantage of a dangerous concept programmed into Carthage. Tyron seems to be based on this idea, NOT Hannibal Mago, who to me comes off more as an power-hungry opportunist.
Nah, he should never have gotten himself and his family involved in all of this in the first place. Franz Hopper is a terrible dad. It’s because of him that Aelita got stuck in Lyoko and the reason why her mom is gone
@@Doomzdeh not exactly. franz WAS involved with project carthage, but because of how terrible things could turn out for the world if it was completed he left the project. in retaliation, they kidnapped Anthea as ransom to convince him to rejoin. he instead he fled with his daughter and made a safe haven for the both of them as well as a way to destroy carthage once and for all. the obly issue with his plan was the returns to the past. they made him insane and also made xana self aware enough to go rogue. Even through all of that he still saved his daughters life twice, and destroyed his own humanity to evade capture and aid the lyoko warriors any way he could. he even gave up his own life so she and the rest of the world could live safe without his greatest mistake xana. He made a ton of errors along the way but it was not his fault project carthage was started.

When this aired on TV, I missed ep78 so I thought he researched that information on his own. Rewatching the series/watching the ten or so episodes I missed the first time around now to find out it was a callback to that episode makes it just as sweet but with added points of continuity. 💚🖤

That's not really low, taking William Dunbar from his old life, changing him physically and mentally into a spitting image, branding his forehead and chest and not letting him know he was changed drastically, that's really low but XANA being the spectres as seen in Fight To The Finish when it was in pain because he pinned down a sewer rat when the thing was just trying to get a granny smith apple before going into its mouth in Plagued is also really low, everything XANA has done is but that's what makes XANA a great villian, Freddy Kruger kidnaps children and does things XANA does but nobody questions him so XANA should be praised for able to be just as frightening.

Considering Ulrich has the lowest grade point average of his friend group, I'm not sure how his father even made the leap in logic that his friends were the problem. Especially Jeremie, Ulrich's dad should be telling Ulrich he needs to get some good tutoring in with that guy.
5:21 You know, it's moments like these that really make me question what the writers are even trying to do with Ulrich as a character anymore, because you can't just tell me he finally managed to pass a test in episode 64 only to straight up pretend like he hasn't improved in his school work in the slightest afterwards. But then again, this is the same writing crew that introduced the concept of Ulrich and William becoming friends in season 2 only to drop it without any real explanation whatsoever, so I shouldn't be surprised at all.

And what kind of a daughter wants to see an AI imitation of her dead mother? The more understandable scenario would have been Aelita noticing that her mom isn't in the family pictures in the house and that's how she figures out it isn't her dad because he would have never forgotten her.

Dang I was listening to odd talking about his home life at the start, thinking it was gonna be a heavy moment discussing his older sisters constantly abusing him, I mean yumi even said it's worse than her brother, ulrich had just finished talking about his dad's temper, they had the music playing and everything but then they just laugh it off, like what the hell? Locking a 12 or 13 year old kid in the bathroom all night,and from the sound of it he was always dealing with shit like that or worse, that's the kind of thing you get laughed at for opening up about and then you never share anything again, ever.

Then the series ended 13 episodes later.

I know that, I have the novels. However, while they were written with the origin documents at hand, several factors were changed and the novels fall into an alternate continuity.
Evolution is only loosely based off documents Sophie Decroisette wrote when the project started out. Apparently, very few of them made into the final product. One idea was that Hopper's true enemy was a dormant scientist who tried to take advantage of a dangerous concept programmed into Carthage. Tyron seems to be based on this idea, NOT Hannibal Mago, who to me comes off more as an power-hungry opportunist.

in retaliation, they kidnapped Anthea as ransom to convince him to rejoin. he instead he fled with his daughter and made a safe haven for the both of them as well as a way to destroy carthage once and for all.
the obly issue with his plan was the returns to the past. they made him insane and also made xana self aware enough to go rogue.
Even through all of that he still saved his daughters life twice, and destroyed his own humanity to evade capture and aid the lyoko warriors any way he could. he even gave up his own life so she and the rest of the world could live safe without his greatest mistake xana.
He made a ton of errors along the way but it was not his fault project carthage was started.

That's not really low, taking William Dunbar from his old life, changing him physically and mentally into a spitting image, branding his forehead and chest and not letting him know he was changed drastically, that's really low but XANA being the spectres as seen in Fight To The Finish when it was in pain because he pinned down a sewer rat when the thing was just trying to get a granny smith apple before going into its mouth in Plagued is also really low, everything XANA has done is but that's what makes XANA a great villian, Freddy Kruger kidnaps children and does things XANA does but nobody questions him so XANA should be praised for able to be just as frightening.

5:21 You know, it's moments like these that really make me question what the writers are even trying to do with Ulrich as a character anymore, because you can't just tell me he finally managed to pass a test in episode 64 only to straight up pretend like he hasn't improved in his school work in the slightest afterwards.
But then again, this is the same writing crew that introduced the concept of Ulrich and William becoming friends in season 2 only to drop it without any real explanation whatsoever, so I shouldn't be surprised at all.

The more understandable scenario would have been Aelita noticing that her mom isn't in the family pictures in the house and that's how she figures out it isn't her dad because he would have never forgotten her.
Aelits, you can never be too careful. You really got hit with the idiot stick by going to Lyoko without pressing for a reason, but you couldve at least asked to take of your "father"'s glasses to check his eyes.
