      As a teacher, as well, I can say these are the worst markers I've ever used. They are hard-tipped, which is a pain in the neck, the ink actually flows very poorly even with fresh refills, and the colors are cheap and dull. Unfortunately, there are not many other options that are easy to buy online in the West so it's probably just a lack of experience that leads people to believe these garbage pens are actually good.

    I've used a set for about a year and a half now. Refilled the sames pens well over 10 times and wouldn't consider replacing them. The only difference between them and a new set is the thickness of the line. I actually prefer the thicker line when the tip starts to loosen up. I'm onto my third set with the chisel tips and they're fantastic (only increased my collection, never thrown any away).

  • @mathmedic8758
    @mathmedic8758 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've been using and refilling these markers for years. As a math tutor, I use them a lot and love that the colours are so vibrant (relative to other brands I've tried). I love that they stay dark until they are just about done, where other markers start fading quickly. I cannot buy colour refills in Canada, or bullet tip black markers. I take my used coloured tips and replace the chisel tip in my black markers. The chisel tip doesn't stand up to some of my more aggressive young student.
    My one complaint - the marker chunks that are left behind when you erase stick to everything. And I mean chunks! I've tried different erasers, but always end up with chunks.

    Hey Ed - we have a lot of walls with dry erase paint on them - wondering what the best markers to avoid ghosting would be on that type of surface? Something to maybe do a video on.

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Daniel, in my experience, dry erase paint has never worked well as I find that it ghosts all too easily. Unfortunately I have seen instances where customers have covered up the Dry Erase Paint with the Post-it Dry Erase Surface due to the excessive ghosting. The only thing I can suggest is to not leave the Dry Erase Marker on the paint too long and also to wait for the Dry Erase Marker to dry before erasing (if you erase it when it's fresh, it will likely ghost more). Good luck!

    Have you found any "longevity" comparisons between these and a "standard" whiteboard marker?
    Reviews on Amazon are all over the place (re: shorter, the same, longer) From personal experience, I find they don't last quite as long. What's your experience been since posting the video?
    We're working on a proposal to expand the use of these in other classrooms, but are in need of some more data. Do you (or anyone else) know of any reviews? Thx!

    • @EdTchoi

      Hi Nathan, yes, I believe the ink cartridges run out quicker, but the larger issue I believe is that the marker tips will eventually wear out. I’m actually waiting for a sample of another refillable dry erase marker that replaces both the ink cartridge and marker tip which will be a game changer! The marker is made by a company called Pallas Pens - pallaspens.com Send me an email to Ed.tchoi@icloth.io and I can introduce you to my contact at Pallas Pens. Thanks for watching!

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be awesome if you could replace the tip as well, but not sure if the V Board Dry Erase markers have replaceable tips. I did find replacement tips from Pilot Japan, but not sure if it's available in North America. I'll have to find out as this is a great suggestion!

    I have a blue one of that but when I refilled, the tip is not dried up but only a transparent liquid comes out. Have you encountered this problem?

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very interesting...I've used a couple of refill cartridges, but that's never happened to me before. Perhaps try shaking the pen (be careful that everything is fully sealed) and see what happens. If not, it could be a defect. Let me know how it goes either way. Thanks!

    • @sreysros9693
      @sreysros9693 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EdTchoi With the red and black ones that I have I was able to refill it successfully. But just this blue one has a problem I guess. What is interesting is that the tip is not dry, if I use it to write on the board or any surface, it leaves a transparent liquid - no blue color comes out but it is fully refilled! Where is this transparent liquid coming from? why is it not letting the blue ink pass? Makes me wonder.... 🤔

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sreysros9693 Hmmm...it almost sounds like the ink formula isn't mixed properly...I would either try returning it or try contacting Pilot directly. Definitely doesn't sound normal though

    • @sreysros9693
      @sreysros9693 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
