  • As you may know, I love whiteboards and whiteboarding, but have you ever heard of a whiteboard where you can use a permanent marker that can be erased with water? Prepare to be blown away by yet another amazing innovation from the folks at 3M. This new peel and stick whiteboard is called the Post-it Flex Write Surface and yes, you can use permanent markers on it. How cool is that?

    Love this! I just bought one after watching the video for a small size to try out 48" x 36". The installation is seemingly smooth just like the video describes, and very easy to clean. I always love Post-it and was so excited to learn they now come in a whiteboard, how amazing this idea is. I am getting a large one now 48" x 96" actually was hoping to find 48" x 120" but I couldn't find this size. Thank you for sharing Ed 🙂

    i just bought the 3ft x 2ft size of this product to put on the back of my bedroom door… i chose the post-it brand over some others specifically because i can use permanent markers (so many colors and no marker dust) on it!

      Great idea on having it on the back of your bedroom door! Hope you like it as much as I do!

      @@EdTchoi i was on the fence between this brand and a couple of others offered through amazon until i watched your video and i thought the size i got was a steal at $40. do you know if it’s magnetic or not? (i know the traditional whiteboards in my classrooms are, which is convenient).
      thanks for making this video!

      @@brenneallen286 You're welcome and glad you found value in the video! The Flex Write surface isn't magnetic, however there may be some magnetic strips you can stick onto the board. Also, if you are in the classroom, you may want to check out my latest video on the IPEVO doc cam which is under $200 and performs exceptionally well especially at that price point. Here's the link to it - th-cam.com/video/lbIq1t7qppI/w-d-xo.html

    If I stuck this to a magnetic, steel sheet to create a magnetic whiteboard, do you think magnets would be able to stick through the whiteboard, or is it too thick?

    Thanks for the video. it is possible to print in this kind of material?. Additionally... Do you know any product with the same properties but transparent like a polester?

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it may be difficult to get anything printed on the Dry Erase Surface...if you can, it would be through the use of a commercial grade printer, but I can't make any recommendations as I haven't tired it before. What are you trying to print on it?
      As for the transparent film, 3M may have a product in their lineup, but none that I'm aware of that is specifically for dry erase markers. What type of application would this be for?

    Pros and cons of whiteboard paint and magnetic paint vs post it white board vs whiteboard panels from hardware store. Post its might be most expensive?

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen lots of applications of whiteboard paint and they unfortunately never turn out good. The concept is great, but the walls end up looking dirty (ghosting and staining) after a short period of time. I think it's because the paint wears down and it's super hard to fix as you have to essentially repaint the entire surface which is a huge pain.
      With the Post-it Dry Erase surface (or a regular whiteboard for that matter), if something does happen to it or you need to remove it, it's super easy to do.

    Will it stick to the car door? Like a door magnet for writing interchangeable messages.

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably would stick to a car door, but I wouldn’t really recommend. What are you thinking with regards to the application?

  • @vidform

    When you wiped away the marker, it was only a few seconds after you wrote on the whiteboard. So if you leave your markings for a few days, will it still wipe away easily? Also, since this product should only be applied once, if we want to move it around, could we leave the backing on and just tape the whiteboard to the wall with either Scotch tape, Washi tape or artist tape? This is amazing and I'm glad I found your videos.

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, even after the permanent marker is on the whiteboard for a while, it'll still erase nicely. As for the product being moved, I really wouldn't recommend it. Although it does come off the wall, it'll be super challenging to move (think about walking around with a huge sticker). Doable in a pinch, but not recommended. Thanks for watching!

    I wonder if it would be suitable to put over a smart board in my classroom?
    Can you project on to the surface?

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apologies for the late reply! Yes, I’ve projected on to it before and it does well, however there is a bit of a hot spot as the surface isn’t anti-glare. Hope this helps!

  • @Katniss0000

    I have bought different brands of whiteboard. My biggest problem is after a few months or even weeks it is so hard to erase. Even bought expo whiteboard cleaners.
    Does this dry erase surface will be damaged overtime because of scratch?
    Im choosing to buy a glassboard or this. Is the durability that really good with heavy use? How long before staining happen?

    • @EdTchoi
      @EdTchoi  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with most whiteboards is that the “slippery” top coating wears off quickly which leads to ghosting which is where it’s difficult to erase the dry erase ink. The 3M whiteboard has a patented coating which prevents this from happening and it lasts a very long time. The only exception is if you scratch it in which case the coating gets compromised which leads to the dry erase ink getting stuck between the micro-grooves.
      Although glass boards are great, they are also very expensive and difficult to mount which makes the 3M board very appealing. The other option is a porcelain board, but again, these can get pretty expensive.
      Let me know what you decide with and how it goes!
