    About Ingredients:
Join MIT-trained chemist and science educator George Zaidan as he tries to recreate everyday household products like toothpaste, lipstick, or shaving cream using only natural ingredients… and no recipe! He’ll have to decode long lists of intimidating chemical names, figure out what they all do, try and find natural substitutes, and then cook up the do-it-yourself versions in his chemistry lab (kitchen). While George may or may not succeed, we'll all learn something new and surprising about the products we take for granted every day.

I think the problem is the fact that the ink you used, which by the looks is fountain pen ink, is a dye. Like you said... the recipe calls for a pigment. Keep doing this show, I love it to bits.

I'm actually a chemical engineer currently working in Product Development at Expo. Octadecanoic acid and triester is used in some of our products as a means of ████ ██████ for the so-called "███████ ██████." The Octadecanoic acid and triester makes it easier for the █████ to ███████ in the ████████. This produces a ███████████, which is a ███████ and in ███████████ form. ███████████ and ████████ are extremely important parts of the process. They are needed for the ████████ of ███████. Without them, ███████ ██████ wouldn't be possible. The whole thing is pretty odd and boring-I know-but it's not like there is some big conspiracy or anything going on. Hope this helps!

+George Zaidan A foam paint brush (purchasable at any home improvement or craft store) would have worked better as a felt marker tip, since paper towels are engineered to absorb liquids without releasing them back easily. I think felt is used because of how well it wicks moisture. But for painting the solution, a foam paintbrush would work just as well.

+George Zaidan The reason Dry Erase markers (and other office supplies) don't list what is in them, is that they don't fit one of two criteria: You don't eat them and you don't put them on your body (usually). Foods and items used on humans (and sometimes our pets) will have the ingredients listed mostly because of diet, allergy, medical, and religious needs to know.

I would have liked to see an even deeper dive into perfecting your recipe, finding out some more details around the emulsifier, seeing how different brands compare in their chemical mix, perhaps a brief touch on any potential toxicity of the ingredients, etc

Try to use water based pigment like that found in a water color paint set. The acetone should dissolve that very easily. Use more cetyl alcohol, also try this on glass since you can use more intense cleaners for that. Also it was very watery, try using less acetone and ethanol. Acetone is a very good solvent and you won't need much to dissolve the stuff together. Use a bit of ethanol since it takes longer to evaporate than acetone. You could try using a small paint brush for this experiment. If it is still very runny/dilute just air evaporate the acetone/ethanol or see if isopropyl alcohol is a better solvent than either solvent and use that instead. Try with or without an emulsifier to see if that makes a difference.

So I found this because my daughter doodled all over my my brand new tablecloth with a dry erase marker and there is nothing online that worked to get out the stain. Solutions from Murphy's oil soap, isopropyl alcohol, laundry soap and dawn dish soap fail after fail after fail... But after watching this I tried acetone to remove the stain and voila! It disappeared before my eyes. What kind of magic? Can you explain why?

I guess if you mix ethyl alcohol propyl alcohol and fountain pen ink in equal parts and then add two pinches of detergent in it, it might work. The detergent will act as surftactant. It will also prohibit any permanent sticking of ink to the board. Maybe a little more proportion of ink is required to get darker color. I will try and let you know.

Id like to know what ones do. It could also have been their way to beat a patient another company had no. Cause all you have to do to not infring on their patient is change some ingredients
