    My response is ...well, now you know what product to ensure a character gray hair role! lol. My partner did her own blonde one time and. it ended up "Blondie" platinum blonde and really freaky and had to go to work with no time to fix it before she went haha. She got a lot of comments and then had to go to the salon and pay a fortune to get it done properly which involved a ton of conditioning and retexturing the straw that it made her hair. so funny! I have actual gray silver under my permanent brown dye (matches my hair of my youth) but when it grows out I have a silver skunk stripe! AND one time I put on auburn trying to auburn my whole head and didn't know you can't do that kind of color over gray without other color first so I ended up having the skunk stripe look like blood dyed red stripe and the brown just still looked brown. Awesome. I just pretty much learned my lesson and stick with the do at home but the one called Age Defy in a color similar to the natural color of my younger years. SO funny though. (after the fact!)

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that actually sounds like it would look REALLY COOL! Reminds me of like Rogue from the Marvel Comics. Have you always had the skunk stripe before you went gray? I ask because it is a common visual symptom of Waardenburg Syndrome!

    • @fragilefleur
      @fragilefleur 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JordanJSparks wow nope, no skunk stripe til I got my lovely premature gray in my 20's and it developed sorta like most women but I covered it up so I didn't see the pattern that it grew gray. Now it's gray if I let it grow out (I'm 53 -ack!) and it's skankarella looking if I don't attend to it. It's actually not a bad gray as grays go thankfully and more silvery but I'm not really into how it pairs with my skin tone which is quite fair and hazel eyes so not a good look. The contact of the dark hair and having what I had growing up makes more sense to me. I am over it with dying my own hair but over it more with having skunk stripes so will keep on covering those roots. lol

    My hair is at in in between shades of ions color brilliance, orchid. So I don't mind that this dye is light. I'm just trying to blend in the colors together, trying to get rid of the more drastic color. I use that fading shampoo too. But did it dry out your hair pretty bad?

      When I fried my hair, I used hair cholesterol. It helped ALOT.
      Also, if you have a Sally's Beauty Supply, Beyond The Zone makes this protein spray that work almost literal miracles.
      It is SO GOOD, that when I recommend it to one of the higher ups at the beauty school I get my hair cut at, she was shocked.
      See, she was an black woman, dying her hair platinum blonde.
      They used Paul Mitchell products exclusively there, and had nothing like this spray.
      And it's only like six bucks a bottle. Which is an amazing price for a miracle, if you ask me.

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I think I have the spray you are reffering too! The one in the yellow spray bottle with the blue head? It smells so good too! That's been my go to spray from sally's since 2008 LOL. I honestly found it incredible too! I was so shocked because the texture almost feels... powdery for a liquid. But it made my old spongey fried blonde hair feel smooth and manageable again, and It would actually DRY in a reasonable amount of time.

      Jordan Sparks Yep!!! That’s the stuff!!!
      I have very fine straight hair, and my daughter has fine, naturally curly hair, (and was a competitive swimmer) and it’s the one product we’d choose if we had to pick a single product to use forever.
      I used to use Beyond The Zone styling products...they’re pretty good...but then I discovered Gatsby.
      I’ll never go back. I used their Aqua Silver dye...FANTASTIC, AND smelled great, though I needed two boxes for my short hair, and the purple and brown moving rubber varieties for styling.
      Usually looks better on the second day!!!

    PS purple plus yellow equals brown or gray in color theory. lol. When picking color, if your hair is usually blonde/yellow go for stuff that won't be opposite on the color wheel. If you'd done the pink you might have ended up with clown orange. LOL and the teal and yellow would have yielded something funky like maybe khaki camo? lollll. Poor you!

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol yes I know (I'm actually a Hairstylist, are you as well?) I choose the Lavender because both Pink and Turqoise would but funky, and since I don't want the color to stay anyway, I opted for Lavender because it will just act as a toner for my blonde hair as it fades. I was just worried, because with cheap Purple Direct Dyes and Semi Permanent vegetable based dyes, they often use too much red pigment in order to make the product look like the actual color, but when applied to REAL HAIR, the hair takes all the red pigment because Red is the largest size of color molecule, and Blue is smaller, so you ended up with Pink Hair, or Magenta tones. If you want TRUE Lavender, Lilac, Violet, etc, I would ALWAYS opt for more expensive products like Arctic Fox, because they will be smart and won't put ANY red pigment in their pastel purples. ALL THAT BEING SAID, did you see when I dyed my hair clown orange intentionally? I avoided Orange my entire life because it reminded me of brassy bad blonde box dye jobs, but earlier this year I went full orange lol.

    • @fragilefleur
      @fragilefleur 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan Sparks no! That’s awesome. Lucille ball red prob worked for you. I’m not a hair person but have a masters in fine art so took color theory. I think you know more than I do though speaking in color molecules. I could take lessons. I dye my own hair bc it’s less expensive and I can intuit most of it and usually just shove on lotion around the edges to avoid giving myself Elvis sideburns. Lolll. I am in the east side of Seattle area. I looked at your Instagram or fb and saw you are in BC. We are practically neighbors. I wish you lived closer and I could see you to do the right color for my gray skunk strip and get me to auburn instead of boring “Natural Dark Brown Number 4” Age Defy by good old Clairol which is prob what caused me cancer two years ago. LOL. I’m ok now but the chemical response scares me ( but I’m a slave to not looking my age) so I still use it.

      Jordan Sparks ps. Send orange hair dye link for my amusement please. And are you still teaching dance too? I saw in around May you got a turn board and it was super useful. My friend’s daughter (in Florida) is a dancer and so I am studying up for her too. She goes to an amazing conservatory in Tampa called the Patel Conservatory and she turns 12 this October. She has mastered her two turns and is quite flexible. She auditions for Nutcracker the 2nd week of sept. She is taking advanced ballet, contemp, I think jazz and a class called “Just for Kicks” which is taught by a former Rockette. It’s a great school and she is able to attend on a scholarship. I so love dance. Did ice skating myself as a younger person so have the idea of turning via learning spinning and some quality falls before I mastered it. I also learned some jumps and the skating version of an arabesque. Was more flexible at 13 haha. I’m old now but I truly appreciate the performing arts and sat in on contemp classes at my college Bc I loved it so much. One of the teachers told me to join the classes but I was a chubby person (still am) so said um no thanks as I watched the long turned out skinny legs of the seasoned dancers. It was fun and I did take a class called music for dance with zero prep so had to choreo a routine to music to speak of musicality. Haha. I was a clunker but I did it. We had to learn to move to the song Take Five which is insane for counts. I do not know how dancers can retain all the moves in a body memory but I did a bit as a skater. Similar I guess. But still my chin is on the floor at the Lily straight jacket solo. She is an anomaly though and Abby is lucky to be working with her.

      Watching the rest of this video and dying laughing. Def good TH-cam fodder. “the ninja turtles will protect me from anything”. And “oops didn’t do the patch test” bwahaha. I never did either. I had my hair bleached from dark brown once to your color blonde and it took prob four bleach and me sitting under a salon heat dryer until I literally got blisters. And it was a super high end salon. Wtf?! LOL. I ended up with straw for hair. I was wanting the hair if Annie Lennox but the short and blonde do. It was just bad yellow and straw with blistered scalp. I was given some purple shampoo to tone down the yellow but wow. Lesson learned. The top ends took the lavender but not the sides. Good to know there is a “fade” shampoo. Learned something here. I wish I could come to you to figure out how to get from brown dye and silver roots to all same color auburn tho. We have nice salons here but way way high end and beyond my income of social security disability. Haha. I will be needing to do it myself with good old sally beauty and some creativity. If I try it I will msg you. Ha.

    it's blotchy because you didn't put it on your hair properly...you didn't make sure the hair was fully covered with it, and running a comb through it was literally stripping it off the hairs that it needed to be on.

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL sure bro, I've been a professional hairdresser for 15 years, but go ahead and tell me I don't know how to apply a direct tint 😂😂😂 It didn't work because it's from the dollar store and has a pigment count of less than 1%.

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cuticle of your hair is like a fish scale covering a sponge, combing the product through your hair does not remove any product from the cuticle, the perforations in the cuticle are microscopic. That is why you have to physically spray hair down and rub aggressively with a towel to do a test strand so you can remove ALL the product from the cuticle of the hair. Combing disperses the product throughtout the hair for EVEN saturation.

    Oh hon!!! TURTLE!!!
    Never use anything involving dye from The Dollar Tree!!!
    I've been bleaching and dying my hair since 2004, and only fried my hair once, in 2007.
    Never trust pastels in ANY BRAND!!! I tried to recreate Trunks' (From Dragonball Z) with Manic Panic's Lilac. I ended up having to dye my hair black, bc it came out too blotchy. Fun fact though, the black came out purple/indigo.
    I'm commenting as I watch.
    I wish I could show you some of my pics...I have literally done every color except neon orange.
    I just can't pull it off.
    But I dyed my hair neon pink in 2010 for my lover who was battling breast cancer.
    That shit did not fade AT ALL, and before I got the last bits cut out, it STILL glowed under black lights.
    SO. ANNOYING.
    😘😘😘
    SO, it looks like it came out as well as it could for Dollar Tree plus pastel!!!
    ✨💖✨
    💚💚💚

    • @JordanJSparks
      @JordanJSparks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Talon Sage haha ya I don’t trust many brands for pastel. But I’m actually a hairdresser so this was just for fun. When you want pastel colours it’s more important you lift the hair to the same Color and it’s the same porosity. That’s more important than the brand of Color. If your porosity is perfect you can even use koolaid lol.

    • @talonsage954
      @talonsage954 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan Sparks Yeah, the pastel attempt was relatively early in my experiments. But it WAS my first failure.
      I got my bleaching down to a science; except for that one lapse in ‘07.
      I fried it so badly (I’m a natural blonde) that when I rinsed the dye out...there was NO BLEEDING.
      NONE.
      I’ve done white and Aqua Silver in more recent years and they came out GREAT.
