I loved siege soundwave and it looks like this makes a great thing even greater.
Earthrise Soundwave certainly looks cleaner with the backpack removed.

nightlypiano41 I say that because the siege one didn’t even transforms into a cassette, plus this has far better painting and comes with both laserbeak AND ravage.

It basically is. It's kinda like what they did with earthrise Prime...*to a certain extent.* prime is pretty much a cheaper version of MP10 Optimus. Although he does have some problems like the legs being heavy remolds, the arms being the most chunky piece on him (like seriously they're pretty much stumps) and maybe the trailer being a little too small? But aside from that he IS pretty much a mini MP10 and back to soundwave, they in short did the exact same thing.
I have a name for my pain. And it is "Walmart Exclusive".

@@renok5012 Yep. And preorders sold out in moments and never came back in stock. So good luck finding one. I'm willing to make the trip to Walmart for this guy, but given what I've experienced of the place, exclusives like this disappear almost as fast as they're out of the case.
You don’t have to use the peg on laserbeak. He’s feet will tab in to the four slots and soundwaves arm

I must of got lucky. My laserbeak does not fall off at all using the feet.
Works fine on my siege Soundwave. But I try to treat my figures like eggs. Because of the cheap material they're still made out of. That siege Apeface though. That thing is made of sturdy stuff.
Hey, can you help me with a this question? DAFUQ are the little thingies on his forearms for? The hinge, but... even the instructions say nothing about them. I'm wondering if it is a leftover from the old tooling?
Kind of like our appendix? It's there... does a thing... but, nobody really knows what or why... but if you f'k it up, it creates all kinds of havoc! 🤣

I knew I made the right decision when I put off getting the Siege version. This is a must-have for me.
I got the siege soundblaster first, and I still prefer this figure overall
I'm very late but if you can still find the siege one for a reasonable price. He's awesome and there's a few fan boombox modes that make his worthwhile. Dont sleep on my boy!
I like the figure but not a fan of the butt flap it ruined the need for me to go after this figure

Actually, the Siege Laserbeak head-sculpt was an official animated version of him, for a short time. In the first episode of "More Than Meets The Eye", the very first episode ever in 1984 of the cartoon, Laserbeak transformed from a tape, into a UFO-inspired drone, with the exact head-sculpt that was the Siege version of him. It wasn't until he was revived on Earth and Teletran-1 redesigned him, that he had the more bird like features that he is more famous for. I personally was waiting for the Siege version of that design since 1984, because no other version of Laserbeak was released with the original animated head, and at least they had that small part that was a throwback the original episode. And also, the secret "Lamppost Mode" of Soundwave was also another wink and nod to that episode too. But I do like the new designs too, because Hasbro are really listening to their fans, because they are literally going through the Teletran-1 redesigns between Siege and Earth Rise.

I really wish they release him separately as an Earthrise voyager. The Netflix figures are hard to find here in the Philippines.

@@MGZab6342 Ako nachambahan ko sa earthrise si Optimus Prime at si Hoist lang. Pero yung Wheeljack, Ironhide, Prowl, Bluestreak at Ratchet wala akong makita dito. Same with Thundercraker at Skywarp

Netflix Soundwave having his signature red visor automatically makes him better than the siege version
It's pretty easy to paint Siege one red on your own.
1984 G1 Soundwave has a yellow visor. Yellow is his 'signature' visor color. His visor was red in the original cartoon, which was released in '85. But yellow is the OG colorway

@Demon Dragon Yeah I can agree with that one since he's incredibly sleek in prime whilst in other continuities he's a bit more blocky

@Matt Youens True since Megatron transformed in only the first episode. Come to think of it I think the only characters to transform often were the Seekers and the Autobots who went to obtain the Allspark in episode 5 and 6.
I’m super excited for this figure since Soundwave is my favorite Decepticon. Once I put the red stripes on his forearms and on his guns he will be perfect.
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for this so much!
I know this is a tad bit late, but I finally got this figure, and found something interesting. Soundwave’s gray gun really fits well onto megatrons back, and gives a very nice G1 aesthetic.
In the thumbnail I though this was a masterpiece this is how good this figure is
I want to see a Buzzsaw and Howlback out of the new ravage and Laserbeak molds

nightlypiano41 yeah, for me personally it’s just Soundwave and elita, seeing as I have an excellent Jeep Bumblebee and I, trying to save money, but Bee is also an excellent figure
MP-13: he's outdated but atleast we have third party figures who can make good soundwave
WFC2: hold ravage, lazerbeak, bussaw, rumble, frenzy and ratbat
You can’t really count third party addons and figures since they’re technically not soundwave and they’re unofficial

TwistedGaming918 I think the biceps (and the lower arms) should be fine for a swap, unless the biceps themselves have been retooled for transformation.

I think they are both great, cybertron vs earth siege even had the mode he had in the first episode which wasn't a cassette player and then earth mode having the cassette player mode is just great.
I’m surprised at how much he’s actually be retooled. This is awesome. Now I’m really looking forward to picking him up. I still love my siege version. He remains one of my favourites but this version could stay on my shelf in cassette mode next to my Reflector set. Good going my man 👍🏻

The Siege Laserbeak is intended to look like cybertronian laserbeak prior to crash landing on earth. The new one obviously is meant to be after crashing. So both are accurate.

PrimeVsPrime I will definitely enjoy this figure even though my whole collection is full of movie toys like the studio series line because I grew up with the transformers movies and I loved them all so much just like you. But I still really want this figure. If I were to make a ranking video, this figure will definitely be a very high ranked figure as soundwave claims.

The Siege Laserbeak is the Cybertronian version, and his head is supposed to have that drone look to it. Because that's the way Laserbeak looked on the very first episode of G1 Transformers when they were still on Cybertron and tracking Bumblebee and Wheeljack. The Netflix version is basically what would be his earth based version that he got when all of the Decepticons were revived and repaired millions of years later after crash landing on earth with the Autobots.

You know the feet of Lazerbeak is designed to snap into the arm, very lightly though. You don’t need to pull out the pin on Lazerbeak

Hey PvP I just noticed something.
They used to give a red transparent rectangular piece to decipher the code in the packaging box of the wfc toys .
The code is placed within those hexagonal outlines in the inside artwork of the box.
So I guess that they are outlined for the you to cut them out and if you place all of them together (the ones from other figures packaging) I think you may get a bigger code to decipher.
I think hasbro has given us a puzzle to solve.
Why can't Hasbro make Siege Auto Troopers or any types of Decepticon drone Siege figures yet so we can be able to have all out War like in the last episode Siege

I wish Masterpiece could just make giant Soundwave minions. Like make a giant Lazerbeak and Ravage but still make them transform into life-size ceset tapes. I think that would be awesome

Back in the early nineties, I found a Soundwave toy that transformed as normal, but the cassette deck actually worked and played audio tapes. Unfortunately, as a child at the time, I couldn't get it and I've never seen or heard of another one.
Damn, if it was in stock now I would definitely get it. It sucks that some transformers are just so rare that they get sold out almost instantly.

Both this and Siege have clips on the forearm that holds laserbeak's feet so it can truly perch on him
Everything from the knees-down on this version is imo a huge upgrade from Siege. Those sexy Soundwave knees!

Since Soundwave played a major part in the 86 movie there is a chance we could get him in studio series.
My Siege spring for the cassette deck is already having issues like it will seize up one of these days. Afraid to place any cassettes into him in fear they'll be trapped forever. This is such a nice figure. I'll be on the hunt now. 🤞

Never opened my masterpiece soundwave. It will be nice when I get this guy in at the end of the month.
Since the forearms are the same as siege, there's actually a pair of notches on each side that are just the right size and shape for Lazerbeaks feet to clip onto, looks a lot better and more natural than using the peg

Autobot Heatwave Nah. I have both Siege Soundwave and Soundblaster, and the latter’s double chest is far too big for him. It’s not a good look.

I guess I'm the only one who's brave enough to say that both versions of Ravage are disappointing pieces of crap. The G1 version is literally a better Jaguar. That's hard to do, make a toy that's worse than one made in the 80s.

Did they fix the size of the tape deck? is it the exact same as siege? The other tapes ya get do not fit fully so i was hoping they fixed this issue.
I want this figure, but I also wasn't going to Walmart at any point during the run of Earthrise figures. My situation is not helped by the fact that supply chains have been out of whack and I don't know if Soundwave ever made it to store shelves in my state.
Every soundwave figure should be capable of putting his finger on the eject button
