    Not only is this educational, but highly INSIGHTFUL - it opens my eyes and makes me realize how to further create things like these animated effects. Thanks so much!

    Love the amount of attention you give to what each piece of the node tree is doing, lets me actually figure out how I can apply this to other projects, not just replicating the tutorial.

    I swear I learn more from guys like him and ducky 3D, polygon runway, polyfjord, kaizen, CG Boost, etc.. than college. Granted my college isn’t the best but still free TH-cam with some bought courses from various people listed has been a lot more fruitful than college has been. Thank ya

    Great, concise tutorial! Note: at 8:00, he changes the mix color node factor to 1 instead of the default 0.5 value. Without this change, the tips don't fade :)

    around 9:55 when you were explaining the texture space thingy, youtube "suggestion" thumbnail covered everything, please always leave the last ~15 seconds of the video empty or prepared for that suggestions because youtube is too dumb to do it themselves.
    And as always, thanks a lot for the effort.

    hey, great video! was actually looking for something like this, so it helped a lot. not that its dire but there is an error in the description of the video. The Legend of Zelda: Trials of the Twin Kingdoms sounds like a great title for a Zelda game, but its not the one that recently released.
    again, thanks for the video and have a good one!

    Please remember to increase the curve resolution to 64 or higher. This determines how accurately the curve is sampled. 12 is a bad default that causes jagged geometry.

    Love this, but 2 Quetions, appreaciate it if anyone knows any solutions
    1. Does anyone has problem with the curve's UV? it appears to have a sharp edge on one side of the surve geometry
    2. the movement of the texture doesnt follllow the curve, it just go virticle up and down

  • @imjoebaker
    @imjoebaker ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for this - How would you go about animating this? Say you want it to start from a point, draw itself, then finish like a trim path?

    • @thelaw333
      @thelaw333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you add another Mix (multiply) to the alpha set up, (after the 1st). you can animate the whole thing fading in and out with a Second Texture Cord. with that tex cord parented to an empty. Tex Cord (Object) > Color ramp > invert > into the B of the 2nd Mix Multiply. just moving the empty slowly allows you to make the whole thing fade. not really a drawing, but It can work in some cases, saving the need to draw it ;)

    • @imjoebaker
      @imjoebaker ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thelaw333 Hi I found a much simpler solution by playing around. In the curve settings you can just keyframes the start and end mapping :) 2/3 keyframes. Job done.

      You have probably already fixed this issue but if not I would double check that the mapping node that has the type set to point is connected to the "A" slot on the mix node. I had the same issue until I noticed this.

    Great tutorial! Such a cool effect. One thing, though: saying "go ahead and" in every sentence is kind of a bit much, and unfortunately, slightly irritating. Maybe try to leave that behind?
