For what it's worth, and I never use this word, you appear to be some kind of genius. Your guitar playing is Holdworthy. But then you do this finger drumming too at such an advanced level. People speak of Matteo Mancuso or Jacob Collier or Louis Cole as being another level, but you seem to have an originality and maturity that easily places you in that beyond stunning musical ability category. What cracks me up is this sense of muted emotionality towards your musicianship. It's like you're someone who finds themselves after having explored and cataloged some new planet and now just walks about like a curator pointing out with quiet detachment some red and purple creature that appears and disappears in different places in space you've studied for a hundred thousand hours and now offers no surprises to you. Perhaps that metaphor was a bit extravagant, but the simple point is that you seem content in your own superlative world. Do you teach anywhere and do you accept mortals?
Thanks a lot, Believe it or not, I'm not really trying super hard to impress anyone.... It's just kind of a casual thing a majority of the time. Maybe people interpret that as low energy...
@@FusionFingerDrum That's interesting. That kind of detachment from what other's think, yet clearly you are investing attention and intention to performing at a high level of capability. And then there is the question as to "Why", if it's not that important to impress others, are you investing in posting on the internet. Not just anyone could achieve the level of capability you have as you have actually studied others you reference in your videos. So you have a broad understanding of the elements of jazz. Either you are accomplished with such ease as not to be aware of it being effortful or you are in fact investing substantial effort yet not expecting much from others attentionwise so as "not really trying super hard to impress anyone". Not knowing much about you, this is all merely speculation. It makes we wonder about whether you are a savant. Savant syndrome is a phenomenon where someone demonstrates exceptional aptitude in one domain, such as art or mathematics, despite significant social or intellectual impairment. Those with the condition generally have a neurodevelopmental condition, such as autism, or have experienced a brain injury.
Of course, when someone is so talented in one area, they tend to have sacrifice their attention in certain arenas of human pursuit. I think the term autism is something that is overused. There are those who are less interested in people and may therefore be less "politically and socially advanced" as others whose interests or intellectual investment is more exclusively in that area. Why definitions of savant syndrome feel the need to balance extraordinary capability with significant deficit seems not to appreciate the range of human possibility. After all, Einstein was not brilliant in his personal relationships with his wives or family members.
Just brilliant... I got the fdgp50 and the ‘recommended’ 3 finger approach was doing my head in - this is how I want/like to play and you are amazing! Thank you for showing how well these can be played - I really appreciate it! Your skill is fantastic.
I have watched a dozen videos already but yours basically sold me the product in less than 3 minutes, I'm floored by what this machine can do. Amazing there's no crosstalk between pads !
Wow! I am impressed. With both the machine and your sweet drumming. I thank you for sharing the instrument. It sounds like it may be what i am looking for. Excellent demonstration showing the various kit sounds.
I just moved to North Carolina so I have a lot going on butcI wanted to wish you well with this new channel. You're extreme on every level and one day you will be more widely known but if I made gear that you could play I'd be going out of my way to sign you. You're the best thing out there when it comes to evaluating products. I wish the best because you deserve it.
Just discovered you and your channel. Great reviews and great playing ! I would say, world class ! Super impressed. Put up some more of your original tunes 🙂
Very tempting and nice playing. I was leaning more towards the 50 but the 30 sounds and looks pretty capable. The guy from The Quest for Groove was right that they cleverly gimped the 30 with the (seemingly) awkward spoken menu system, instead of a screen like on the 50. Do you find that much of a problem? I'm mostly curious how easy it is to record with and to trigger drum VSTs, I'll have to look into that more.
This is great. I have a question though with drumming in general, can it convey emotion? I know that sounds silly but with other instruments able to play chords major and minor and scales arpeggio's etec you have what you need to convey an emotional state such as sadness melancholy. But how can you do that on drums?
That's debatable... I think it can in certain instances, for example, you're playing this very intense sort of a fusion ballad and it comes to the drum solo section where you're kind of doing hits with the band at the same time that you're filling in the gaps with solo material etc, I think in those particular types of instances the sort of melancholy feel can be conveyed... I suppose you could also use a bunch of auxiliary percussion, the type of stuff that Trilok uses
THX appreciate the playings, and also the process of showing us pad per pad what they sound, and how the velocity works . also want to know if the additional kits presents on the FGDP 50 are worth it or not. and same with the additional buttons
Is it posible to turn off internal speaker when you listen pad by your headphones? And there is internal batery if im correct so there is no need for power cord..Great video!!
Nice video! Could you kindly create another video demonstrating the voice guide feature in its entirety? My visually impaired friends are interested in purchasing this device and would greatly appreciate a comprehensive demo showcasing its full accessibility through voice guidance.
I'll look into it, but honestly I just use the presets that are in the unit, I haven't even looked into any customization, everything that I'm using it just straight out of the box. You should also be noted that every kit layout is the same on the pad, so that's nice as far as a learning curve is concerned
I mean I used to hang out with the drumline people, and of course I kept myself aware of all of the different players out there and what they're technically doing, a few years ago I just kind of decided to get into this, and actually trying to do it with my own hands. ... Most of the study I've done was just based on how to write more realistic drum parts, I didn't really know at the time that I was going to end up using that later in this type of capacity....
Oh Jesus Christ... It's a gigantic list... I'll just say some of the people that I've been listening to lately... Vinnie, Dave, Trilok, Zakir, Gary husband, Borlai, Dejohnette, Bill Stewart, Bozzio, Wakerman, Novak, etc etc I could keep doing this all day, I've been into basically most all of the major drummers at one time or another, or at least some aspect of what they're doing...
@FusionFingerDrum I love Trilok Gurtu too! Had the pleasure to see him live in Italy, a country he is very tied to (my homeland as well, although I live in London). He is such a fine experimental musician, a bridge among genres!
That Maple kit sounds phenomenal and your coordination, dexterity and sense of rhythm truly brings it to life. Great demonstration!
BEST playing we've seen on this machine!
Thanks. ... just trying to be musical
“I should probably show you this” earth explodes. Flipping awesome!
Best review, with someone really drumming next level, showing te potential. Thanks
Thanks for the support
Any manufacturer should be happy with a review like that!
Wanted to watch a few minutes, stayed for the whole thing. You‘re awesome!
Awesome, thanks. Stay tuned on the channel because I'm probably going to do some more......."here's how you actually play stuff type videos".
After watching, but most importantly listening to what Tory has to say, I am going to order the 50 today. Thank you Tory. You are such a resource!
I'm going to have to get one of those myself, soon enough, probably...

if i closed my eyes and listened to a great drummer i would never say that it is played with fingers it is a shock for me thank you
I have watched a dozen videos already but yours basically sold me the product in less than 3 minutes, I'm floored by what this machine can do. Amazing there's no crosstalk between pads !
Not only that, but the ability to choke the cymbals as well as the individual drums...
Wow! I am impressed. With both the machine and your sweet drumming. I thank you for sharing the instrument. It sounds like it may be what i am looking for. Excellent demonstration showing the various kit sounds.

Super impressed.

I will eventually, I've been busy with the other main Channel
Amazing review, thanks! You really show its capability, your playing is so expressive!
Amazing work! This thing sounds like sooo much fun!

I mostly only use two kits anyway....
This is great. I have a question though with drumming in general, can it convey emotion? You are a veritable superstar! A uniquely amazing muso. Thank you :)
The Best!

No problem, I thought it necessary considering I myself was looking for a video that did exactly that and couldn't find it...
I love the additional buttons. They allow me to trigger more articulations in my drum VSTs. Especially useful for cymbals.
Is it posible to turn off internal speaker when you listen pad by your headphones? And there is internal batery if im correct so there is no need for power cord..Great video!!
Yeah, as soon as you plug in the headphone jack it turns off the external speaker... Yeah it is battery powered by its own batteries
Nice video! Could you kindly create another video demonstrating the voice guide feature in its entirety? My visually impaired friends are interested in purchasing this device and would greatly appreciate a comprehensive demo showcasing its full accessibility through voice guidance.

Questi kit drums si trovano già nella drums maschine appena comprata ? O bisogna caricarli ?
It's in it natively. Ready to go.
🤯Amazing skills! What velocity setting are you using? I have FGDP-50 from few days and still working on right feeling for these Pads.
Straight out of the box, no alterations
This is great playing! You must have studied drumming?
I mean I used to hang out with the drumline people, and of course I kept myself aware of all of the different players out there and what they're technically doing, a few years ago I just kind of decided to get into this, and actually trying to do it with my own hands. ... Don't you have a jazz guitar channel by any chance?
ps:
Yes you do.
Thought you were a guitar monster till now but You are a music monster.
Yes I do, thanks very much. My regular channel with the guitar and everything is just my name, Tory Slusher
Did you feel normal or weird growing up since you’re so freakin brilliant and cool?❤
I guess so, although I wouldn't say that I was always having brilliant ideas or anything...
W🎧W!
