    Not sure it was mentioned but for those who worry about accidentally changing settings you can hold the MODE button for 2 sec. and it will lock all settings. To unlock hold the MODE button again.

    Your videos covering the Godox lighting system are the reason why I've invested in them. And have to say it is easily one of the best investments in my photography I've ever made.
    Keep it up.

    @3:05 - it is necessary to press SET after changing power setting because it will not be saved. You will still initiate the previous power setting unless you press set for the new setting.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No but then if you hit the dial again it could still change. But, I never hit set.

    • @alexcomaya3492
      @alexcomaya3492 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Hall Photography i mean for example you are using 1/8 power then you want to increase it to 1/4 power, dial it to get 1/4 reading highlighted on trigger then must press set, otherwise you think you’re using 1/4 power already but still 1/8 being fired by flash because you didn’t press set but in the trigger shows 1/4 still highlighted. Was not pressing set also before but i saw it from one youtuber that you need to press set then he is right after i tried it actual test. Check it by yourself or maybe i’m saying differently from topic or maybe i’m wrong in some way.

    As many have stated in comments : The ID function is most likely an additional layer for the flash to have a specific line of communication to equipment, so that two users could coexist on a single channel. This will likely be added to their other products through firmware.
    Additionally - I got the TCM function backwards, it is far more useful. You can use the TCM function after any TTL shot. This means you can shoot multiple times, as soon as you are satisfied with the result, you can hit the TCM function, and it will then convert your TTL to manual. So you don't have to pre-emptively choose TCM before your first photo!

      Hi, thanks for all the great info on everything Godox. I do have a problem with the TCM function, and several people have mentioned it, where it does not convert the light power accurately at all, but grossly underexposes compared to TTL. Any ideas as to why this happens and what I could be doing wrong? Many thanks!

    Thnx for all your Videos on Godox, if you aren't being treated by them you should be !!! I have been using Neewer flashes and triggers with my Sony A7's & so far they have been brilliant, no complaints. A new flash came out, the NW630, HSS, TTL, 2.4G etc, I bought one. It doesn't work with the N1Ts (copy of the X1Ts) ! So I asked Neewer the question, Oh no this is a new flash, needs new trigger ! Back on ebay for you... Now bought TT685(S) for my A7 series and TT685(C) for my 5Diii set up. I have had to wait until today (my birthday) for the X pro(s) trigger... It is brilliant ! not only does it fire my Sony TT685, it fires my Canon TT685, so I have two flashes for my Sony. Hang on, Neewer is just rebranded Godox ( * Bright idea ) OMG, it fires my Neewer NW880s & my el cheepo Neewer NW865s manual flash. Next stop ebay, get an xpro for the Canon range of cameras - Loving this even tho not been out of box for more than 5 minutes

    Thanks for the video, Rob. Just a small correction regarding the SHOOT menu:
    Single person icon is for sending the power levels only when you actually set them,
    Multiple persons icon is for sending the power levels before each shot you take,
    and the APP mode is for making the trigger just a dumb trigger, since the power levels are set via the app.

    The ID function exists on all of their units I believe, XT-1 has it in func 11. Basically it's a Wireless ID, which if you set it will only trigger units using the same ID. You can consider it similar to a password in combination with the Channel. I doubt it's highly secure, I'm sure if you sniff the 2.4gHz channel you can figure out what someone is using. But it adds a little complexity and reduces chances you will accidentally trigger some other persons Godox units, and vice versa.
    I personally set a Wireless ID and Channel that are not the default, and should never run into issues theoretically, even though the chance was slim on defaults.

    ID mode is common in canon, you must put the same ID number in the trigger and flashes in order to shoot, that way you wont trigger any one`s flashes, I use to use 005 in all my canon flashes cuz it was my lucky number

    I think the "ID" part is used to distinguish yourself from other photographers using the same trigger.

    • @adriank9234
      @adriank9234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly, if you have another photographer using same set up as yours but not with you, just set an ID (and for your 2nd shooter) and when you fire, the other dude's flash won't and the other guys apart from yourself and your 2nd/3rd shooters (if you have them) your flashes won't fire unless you actually trigger them. Chances though of that happening, especially at a wedding so remote as I don't bother.

    Multi mode is to do with strobe effect, it's in the X1 as well. You tell the flash hous many flashes and at what speed to strobe, used for creative effect in longer exposures to catch movement . So maybe you want 20 pops over a 2 second exposure, you tell it 10 at the rate of 5 per second etc. The ID is so that if more than one photographer is on a specific radio channel, they can have different ID so as not to trigger each other's units

    • @derekmack
      @derekmack 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oops, 10 flashes over two seconds at 5 per second, not 20.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what stroboscopic mode is. Thats built in outside of the custom functions.
      The ID stood out because it's not on anything else, so it looks like this will be added via firmware for other products / future products. The multi I referenced in custom functions is indeed designed to help you control how it behaves when multiple photographers/cameras are triggering the same group of lights.

    • @derekmack
      @derekmack 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty much all the Canon versions use that channel and ID setup.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing I can think of is they may be retrospectively going to add firmware updates to other stuff, makes no sense to be on the transmitter alone. It's so long since I got my 699's and the X1 I don't recall if I had to set a radio channel, I must look am curious now 😂😂

    Today I have updated both V860ll for Nikon and both are able to work with IDs. Not the same for AD200. Maybe later. But found problem with alt masking. When trying to operate with X1TN or X pro N, both worked ok only for the first time till I switched to mk2. From that moment AD200 operates only with mk2, it means it flashes only at the second press even in mk1. But when I press the flash button on AD200 it works ok. But I have only one AD200 at this moment.

    The fact that AF assist doesn't apply to continuous focus makes NO sense to me. I am sure it's not isolated to this particular unit.
    However, why can't the AF assist just turn on when your focus system turns on.
    As in when the continuous focus is used - the AF assist SHOULD turn on as long as your focus button is depressed and in turn helping the camera focus in low light. That is the point of having it - it should apply to any focus mode you use. It happens BEFORE the camera actually locks on focus so it shouldn't matter.
    ANYWAY - fantastic video as always Robert - your reviews and product run-throughs are the best out there. Always full of detail and pros and cons from the real world.
    That is what we need !!
    Thanks for all of your work.

    • @robhallphoto

      Af-c is designed to constantly track focus as long as the button is being held, while Capture is at any point. How could it accurately know when to anticipate your image capture and turn off the AF-assist beam. It might work if you have the focus hold on it’s longest setting but even then you are talking about millisecond gaps to shoot during. There’s simply no way for it to avoid being problematic.
      For me, as a back button shooter when I’m using AF-C I hold it down the entire time even as I take shots, so the grid would never have the opportunity to turn off. I just don’t think there’s a way to make it work for all shooters

    Hello!
    Been observing that he Godox AD 600B (Firmware version 2.4) with Fuji X1T F communicates perfectly on Manual mode/HSS but strangely does not communicate in TTL mode. Meaning the manual tweaking (+- 0.3/0.7 s) on the transmitter does not change the reading on the flash. Is this normal? The transmitter is updated to the latest version 3. and the flash is on ver. 2.4. If I read right, the FECs for TTL are independent values and can be controlled either from the camera/trigger or the flash itself. A change to either two simultaneously would add up as a sum of the adjustments and not stand as individual tweaks. For example, if I change +1 on the trigger and it accentuates to another +1 on the flash through wireless the total would add up to 2 stops. I could be wrong. Kindly explain .Also, does the TCM take care of this issue to an extent with the new X PRO series trigger? Thanks

    • @JeremyDArcy
      @JeremyDArcy ปีที่แล้ว

      I am having a similar problem with my Cannon 5D Mark III. It was working before, but not now, and I can't figure out what setting I changed. I can control the exposure for Manual, but it stopped working for TTL for some reason. I've checked the channel and group. But when I change the setting on the ProX trigger, it doesn't change on the flash. I can change the mode from the trigger, but not the exposure. It will test fire from the trigger as well, it just won't change the exposure setting when it's set to TTL. Anyone know how to get it to work again?

      It’s a problem with the voltage of rechargeable AAs. Use standard AAs and it’s fine.

    One of my biggest gripes with Godox on-camera flashes and triggers is the strew type fastener. Coming from the Canon line, I love the locking mechanism. Do you find the flashes and triggers coming loose over time? Is it a solid, stable connection, given the fastener is tightened adequately?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do find that on my V860 and X1. I'm waiting to judge the XPro when I get a Nikon specific model.

    Great video. I have the x pro c and initially worked great. After about 2-3 months the trigger worked hit and miss using the shutter on the camera. I was pulling my hair out to fix it. I found that licking the base of the trigger before putti it on the camera and it works! I suspect something not making a good connection. Could be the pin that drops down when you turn down the locking wheel. Have you heard of anything like this or suggest a fix?

    My Xpro-c in Manual mode, even at 1/128 is WAY overexposed using my TT685 flashes (canon 5D mkiv). In ETTL mode, the flash/trigger work fine.

    If you are in ttl mode and you adjust flash compensation on the camera what does that do if anything to the fec the remote uses to send to the flash? If you change the fec on the remote and the camera what does it use as your setting?

    @RobertHallPhotography, why didn't you actually show the assist beam? What is the cable that goes into the port on the side?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because a Nikon camera can't trigger the AF assist beam on a Canon shoe since the pins don't align or communicate the same way.
      Ports are for sync to camera or flash (3.5mm) and firmware (USB)

    I'm trying to figure out how to use the xPro as a wireless shutter trigger with my X1R and also use my AD200 Pro as off camera flash. I can't seem to figure out how to set that up. If it's even possible or if I need to get another trigger.

    Actually if you want to talk about copying this is almost a straight copy of the Phottix Odin II but with a better looking screen. Which is a good thing because the Odin II is by far the best radio flash trigger controller as far as usability goes, even better than the pro photo air system IMO.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +josh885 definitely, I loved the Phottix Odin II as well as the Cactus V6. Certainly don’t mind Godox drawing inspiration there.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use whatever you want. If you want the battery meter to be accurate use regular alkalines, but at the end of the day good rechargeable ones will still last longer.

      Hi Robert, sorry for the delay in replying, I never got an alert that you had replied. By the way, if you had 2 of these Godox XPro-C units, could you use one of these as a remote control that you hold in your hand to trigger the Xpro on the camera's hot shoe which would in turn fire the flashes ? I'm wondering if that would work....

    I don’t have an app option on my R2Pro C. I also have not solve how to make TCM do anything. I did find out that if I move ID out of off position and onto a number no flashes get talked to, freaked me out as I have a wedding to shoot. Still trying to solve do I want to trust til as there is variance some times.

      Hit sync on trigger so HSS is active. Turn Auto FP on in camera. That's it.
