      This condensed version is very good, hope to see more of them in the future. I am looking into something similar in 2019 and this will be on my evaluation list for sure. A good condensed version like this could be on my tablet for quick reference.

      I have to admit I do not like adds but things have to be paid for somehow. Adds are better than no content, just hope that over time they do not become too intrusive. The current level are not too bad in most cases. If I had a choice I would prefer adds be at the beginning.

    That focus assist lamp is really good in low light, even if you don't use your flashes. It nails focus every time so I tend to keep it on the camera in low light or shooting things with no contrast features in them, such as a plain wall. NOTE: It does not work when you set your Canon to focus AI or Servo. You need to be in ONE SHOT mode. Took me ages to figure this out.

    Love Godox for what they have done, on that note the main issue(s) are if you're using non Godox strobes you can not control the lights even with the firmware updates. All you have is a trigger it's looking like Yongnuo is the only flash controller that will work with your mix of light.

    Hello Joseph and my compliments for this video! i would like to knwo if it is possble to trigger speedlites (no godox brand) with godox xpro without any receiver o do i need Godox X1R-N? thankd indeed

    • @photojoseph
      @photojoseph  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need SOMETHING to trigger the remote light. The cheapest route is to get optical slaves. They’re about $10 each and will trigger anything with a hot shoe or PC connector. Search “optical Slave” on amazon. They just have to be line of site; that’s the limitation. And of course everything is manual.

  • @Supergoldfish101
    @Supergoldfish101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the ID setting is for newer firmware, many Godox devices have been recently released to include it. It's not documented well either. Basically the receiver will only listen to the transmitter with a matching ID number, even if on the same channel.

      @@photojoseph Not just yet, but planning on new speed lights for 2019 when our season ramps back up. These may be what we are looking for. The other option may be Profoto A1 units if they come out with a dedicated Lumix TTL remote. Still debating between the two, but close to pulling the trigger on something. Decided to hold out and hopefully see them both at WPPI, which is just around the corner. These are pretty enticing though considering the price point!

    I bought twp V860IIOs and the XPro for my Lumix G9 and GH6. It takes some practice, especially since they operate quite differently than the SB800 and SB600s in my old Nikon CLS. For example, I need to crank the gain way up to be able to use the McNally Lastolite. With the Nikon CLS, the camera and Speedlight would compensate. Finally, since the WiFi on the G9 and GH6 is 2.4 GHz, same band as the XPro trigger, I have not found a channel in the Godox system that does not interfere with the Panasonic Image App on my iPhone. Thanks to your videos, I had very little learning curve with navigating the flash and trigger menus.

    Hello Joseph. Do you know if it is possible to get these triggers to sync above 1/250 with Panasonic S1 family? I know the S1 can sync at 1/320, but when I have the XPro trigger on I can't go higher than 1/250. Same if I put the flash (V1) on camera. I don't want HSS, I want full sync at 1/320, which I know the S1 supports - but so far it seems that Godox does not. Appreciate your insight...

    Hi, dank je wel voor de video ! ik ben momenteel nogal in strijd met mijn nieuwe godox v1 flitser + xpro trigger, mede doordat er weinig goede handleidingen bestaan in het nederlands. Gelukkig heb jij deze tutorial gemaakt, echter: als mijn trigger op A staan en CH 1 ... en mijn flitser staat ook op tzelfde ingesteld, dan nog zie ik niet iets wijzigen op mijn flitser.. als ik de trigger aanstuur en wijzig. Dus Iets klopt er niet... heb jij enig idee hoe dit kan?

    Hi thank you for the tutorial. One question I have is that, when you set a setting on the remote , is it possible to adjust the settings on the flash unit and it will update the settings to the remote. I use flash to shoot multiple exposures and then blend them in post. So I want to avoid having to touch the remote unit attached on the camera if I need to make adjustments.

      I don’t think that’s possible. The remote can control multiple lights, each with different settings. If you updated the flash, should that propagate the changes to the other flashes? If movement of the camera is a concern, look for a cable that you can but between the camera and the controller. Canon makes on for their lights, for example, that might even work with other brands.

      This isn’t designed to be a “follow along in real-time” guide. If it were it’s be 5x as long and everyone would complain that it was too long. Please use the pause and back-up features of TH-cam if you’re trying to set yours up as I go.

    Hi, by default my xpro was set to ID1 and nothing worked while XT2 was working fine. By comparing i noticed XT2 was set to ID off. So now xpro in IDOFF works fine too. is it normal ? what is this ID parameter ? i thought it was just a name for rcognition during a scan...
    About my XT2, i have a strange display for channels. OFF or ON and in ON mode i see a panel with power, duration, frequency like a RPT... i can't change it to select ttl or manual. any idea ?

    Great video, everything so clearly explained - thanks! I have a question... I intend to get a godox xpro remote for my Nikon, I already have 3 Nikon flashguns, will I need a Godox receiver to fire each of these? If so, what would work best with the godox xpro transmitter? Thanks!

    I got an XPro remote and TT685o today to use with my G9 after seeing several positive reviews and helpful tutorials like yours. The TT685 wouldn't mount to my camera.'s hotshoe After rechecking to confirm I got the right model, I found the contact pins had very sharp, unfinished-looking points that I smoothed a bit with a jeweler's file. That worked, but it's a reminder that the low price can have its downside.

    Is it possible to trigger the test flash feature remotely... Let's say when using a light meter... Is it possible with the xpro attached to a camera's hot-shoe to trigger it to produce a test flash while you're standing next to your subject or light?

    • @photojoseph
      @photojoseph  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The easiest way to do that is with a PC cable from the strobe to the meter

    Using the above equipment, if you switch modelling light to 'on' from the trigger, then press your 'depth of field' preview button on your camera, the flash will emit a series of rapid flashes so you do indeed have a modelling light with these flashes. Don't overdo it though

    My beep mode is ON on both the flash and the XPro but no beep have you any Idea why?

    • @photojoseph
      @photojoseph  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No… maybe it’s a broken beeper? Sounds like a question for Godox

    • @jayinnewyork
      @jayinnewyork 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea the beep on my Nikon Sb700s doesn't sound on either.. I've noticed it only sounds when I use the optical flash to flash triggering but doesn't sound with any triggering system I've used which sucks because I like hearing the beep 😀. Love the godox system as I've been using it for almost 2 years now while putting my speed lights in fully cover soft boxes so optical sensor flash is a no-go!

    • @barisdemiray
      @barisdemiray 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here. Same configuration, the beep is on both on the SB-700 and XPro yet no beeping. Beeping works on optical triggering when the flash is set to remote. It however does not beep on the camera when set simply to ON. So I guess beeping is off unless the flash is in remote setting. By the way great video thanks Joseph.

    what happens if you dial power on the speedlight instead on the transmitter? will the power value on the transmitter be changed?

      The flash can work as either master or slave, but I don't think the transmitter can be put in slave mode. In short, when the transmitter fires, the flash setting will be overwritten. However, if you program the flash to trigger manually at let's say 1/128 power from the transmitter, you can override the value on the flash manually on its back panel. The flash will trigger once on the new value, and return to the value set on the trigger after firing because there's no value transmitted back to the transmitter from the flash, as the flash is in slave mode (or it wouldn't be triggered by the transmitter).
