This is probably the most helpful video on trimming the head for me. It all makes perfect sense. Now to get my 6 month old boys to stand still for me!!
This is by far the BEST video I've watched about clipping/grooming a doodle's face/head. EARS - YES. Please let me know where to find a tutorial on plucking the ear hair. My dogs love to swim and it's imperative that their ears are clean from extra hair so they dry out. I also love how you've clipped the dogs legs/feet! Very few grooms get that right. : )
Wow...just wow!! Your tutorial is fantastic!! I have been researching so many other videos for assistance with trimming our Australian Mountain Doodle. Thank you!!!
You are the only professional groomer that knows about Style and grooming Wish you were in Miami, Fl I have not been able to find someone like you ... groomers don’t know . Anyway well done!! Thanks for sharing your expertise
The only?? Groomer?? The only one....? The one single groomer that knows how to groom? Did I go through 9 months of training and two years of experience just to see this comment?
This is a great video. I used to trim my airedales and now I am challenged with a 16 week old australian labradoodle puppy. Slowly introducing her to tools, etc. This video will be my "go to" resource. Thank YOU! And yes, an ear plucking video would be very helpful.
Do you have video on the rest of the Australian Labradoodles body, legs, feet...I guess I can say the complete package. By far this video explains how to trim the head, better than any other I have seen. THANK YOU..
Thank you! Do you have a video on how to keep your dog still. I’ve heard you mention get them off the ground but wondered about a makeshift harness to keep them still :)
Thank you for all of your fabulous videos ! My Labradoodle has super curly hair and an afro, doesn't matter how long I leave it, there's no natural part. Pleeeeeaaaase do you have any suggestions on how to shape her head ? 🐶💛🙏
I really appreciate your video! Just a little hard to see the right side as his fur is a rich dark brown. Maybe some kind of a light would make it brighter. Thank you. Such a beautiful doggie!

I'm curious how her ears were trimmed prior to your face/head trim. My doodle has very long hair on his ears and I would like to clip it shorter. Can I just use the clippers to shorten it with a 1inch comb attachment?
Can you share the link to these shears? I’ve gone through two sets and I can tell yours are much smoother! I looked on your storefront on Amazon but couldn’t find them. Thank you!!!!
You see thats the mistake I did for the top of the head instead of doing that reverse u shape I did and n shape and she looked off. Poor baby. Thanks for the video. I learned.
Hi from Cape Town, South Africa! I can't find someone close to me that can do this cut so I want to do it myself. Can you maybe tell me what type of blades and length I need for the body please?
Comb is from Rens Pet Depot. Brush is the Chris Christianson Big K slicker, which you can get by going to our website, under the Extras tab, then recommended products. www.bigrocklabradoodles.com
No. Australian Labradoodles are Labrador Retrievers, Poodles and Cocker Spaniels, although I do not use Cocker Spaniels, as I breed the Standard Size only.
I purchased expensive straight, curved and thinning shears. The straight shears are dull, and the thinning shears has really preformed like the shears you use in your video. The thinning shears I use, doesn’t do anything but pull the hair and certainly does not move freely like yours does. HELP

Australian Labradoodles have lines tracing back to the original breed, which came from Australia. The parent breeds are Labrador Retrievers and Standard Poodles.
Also be sure that you have brushed the hair completely, down to the skin, look up tutorials on line brushing, line brushing is the technique thay ensures thay you brush correctly on curly "non shedding" dogs
I’m a pretty new groomer and we get people in requesting all different haircuts for doodles. The breeders tell them how it should be cut or they find things online. We always tell them it’s completely up to them and their preference for how they want their dog to look. So just curious why is there such confusion for what it’s definitely supposed to look like and why are people being told so many different things for doodles?
Hi there! Gosh, I wish I could answer that!! Not all breeders are created equal. Not all breeders are real breeders! Unfortunately, so many "doodle" breeders are just in it for the quick money. There is definitely a "breed standard" among ALAA and WALA, but, outside of that, no. I have recorded grooming videos on what I call the "Big Rock Look", but to my best awareness, this is the "look" that ALL Australian Labradoodles should have!! The goal is a diamond shaped head (long on top, allowing a natural part, ears long in front, and groomed to the leather in back and bottom third of front, blended into a pointed long beard). For better reference, please watch my videos!! Any" breeder" not recommending this, is not a true breeder of Australian Labradoodles. Furthermore, those of us invested in this breed are very much promoting that they be groomed every 6-8 weeks, with a daily light brushing, plus a weekly DEEP brushing. You CANNOT get a Doodle and expect to not brush them! That is utter foolishness!!
Something i would advise not to do especially for inexperienced groomers is to try not to bounce around with your scissors, use your fingers at any time possible to protect parts that are easy to cut especially if you are bouncing your hands around
Nose, eyelids, lips, ears (which she showed beautifully) and especially the neck folds hold the skin taut by stretching the skin to lay flat while you are cutting that area.
Step back and be sure that you are creating the shape you want, the muzzle from the front, the cheeks to the top of the head, and from the side should all be cohesive enough. Always be using your greyhound comb (the straight metal toothed comb) to fluff the hair out and then down how the hair naturally lays.

Good luck!!! :)

Great question…I would like to know also.
You can get big rubber suction cup hooks for your wall, then attach grooming leads
Thank you for all of your fabulous videos ! My Labradoodle has super curly hair and an afro, doesn't matter how long I leave it, there's no natural part. Pleeeeeaaaase do you have any suggestions on how to shape her head ? 🐶💛🙏

How do you trim the beard to a point in a dog who has a long beard?
This is very helpful!
I'm so glad!
Thanks Alana! This is so great!
Glad you like it!
Can you share the link to these shears? I’ve gone through two sets and I can tell yours are much smoother! I looked on your storefront on Amazon but couldn’t find them. Thank you!!!!
Great video! Wish I watched this years ago 😂
Do you have a video of plucking the hair out of the lower inner ear
This video shows the full ear plucking.
Thank you for this video! I appreciate the way you've explained everything.
You are so welcome!
This helped me a lot, I’m trying to learn how to trim my dog’s face
Good Luck!
Can you please show us the full ear plucking? My dog doesn't even like the clippers around his ear so it makes me think that area is too sensitive.
There is a video on my page about ear plucking..you'll find it under tutorials! Cheers :)
You see thats the mistake I did for the top of the head instead of doing that reverse u shape I did and n shape and she looked off. Poor baby. Thanks for the video. I learned.
On the back of the neck, where do you stop with the clippers? At the collar line? Thanks in advance!
I start the clippers at the base of the occipital bone.
Just bought electric trimmer, am going to give my doodle a hair cut, all by myself! Ambitious!
Go for it!
Hi from Cape Town, South Africa! I can't find someone close to me that can do this cut so I want to do it myself. Can you maybe tell me what type of blades and length I need for the body please?
Hi there. I do the body at 3/4 of an inch and the legs at 1 inch. Use a 30 blade with blade guard attachments. Good Luck!
Thanks so much. This video what I want to see. Great job!
Thank you
Can I do this on a Golden Doodle? It's the look that i'm trying to get
Sure!
This was super helpful, i'm curious though, how did you avoid cutting whiskers? Or is that unavoidable?
Do you know of any good Australian Labradoodle groomers in Ct? I have been to several and still not happy with face cut.
Im so sorry, I dont!
Yess please do one on plucking ears. Zacharias James says thank you.
Hi Ann. There is a video on my page about ear plucking..you'll find it under tutorials! Cheers :)

Love it! What with the ALD who's head fleece is curlier??
Treat exactly the same wat! :)
Do you breed an Australian Shepard with a labradoodle?
No. Australian Labradoodles are Labrador Retrievers, Poodles and Cocker Spaniels, although I do not use Cocker Spaniels, as I breed the Standard Size only.
Would you provide a link for the thinning shears please?
They are from Sally Beauty. The ones they have with the most teeth

This is so great but I was distracted the entire time by the camera operator's breathing! hahaha
oh boy!
@@BigRockLabradoodles Funny! I didn't even notice.
Brittany ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕🇱🇷
Is this a medium sized doodle? Or is she a standard size but not finished growing?
She is a small standard
Why do you call the dog Australian doodle? What is this breed mix?
Australian Labradoodles have lines tracing back to the original breed, which came from Australia. The parent breeds are Labrador Retrievers and Standard Poodles.

My Labradoodle HATES slicker brushes. He only lets me use combs
Have you tried the Chris Christensen Big K?

I wish groomers knew about how to do this. They always want to give a poodle cut.
Ughhhh I came here exactly for the beard
Did you get your answer?
The guy recording is breathing too hard 😭😭😭😭😂😂
Not a good video because of all the barking dogs distracting your pup from what you’re doing. Also makes it hard to hear what you’re saying.
Omg she is so beautiful! Is she a standard poodle and what color coat is she? Is she and F1B?
