- Baby Gina experiences her first spa day which includes lots of shmooping, floofing, and positive acknowledgment. I look for moments of reactions and body language from the dog as opportunities to respond. This makes it so I can communicate with them which calms them. We all feel calm when we feel seen and valued.

Great tutorial with an extremely well behaved puppy and an intuitive, patient Groomer. I would love to see a tutorial covering more detail about the clipping/trimming process of a Goldendoodle.

I really like how ur gentle but firm with her, I watched one groomer and she was more aggressive towards the dog she was grooming. I guess it's how u consider the dogs feelings this other groomer didn't. Good job great work 💚🐕

How old should a doodle pup be for first trim? Mine is almost 4 months.
I like to start puppies out with a bath and tidy the moment they are done with their final set of shots. I do a bi-weekly bath and tidy for the first month to get them used to it. It’s different for every dog. Some dogs get used to it quicker. It’s a good idea to go to a professional for at least the first few visits to get them used to a stranger and the loud noises of the dryer and the clippers…etc. Another point I want to bring up here is that doodle owners are getting a reputation for wanting a fluffy dog but not brushing properly. They’ll bring in a matted dog and want a fluffy long haircut. if you want fluff, get a good slicker brush and learn how to brush. (Everywhere. Between the toes, the ankles and legs, ears and face..etc) I have free resources in my pet parent portal on my website - click the link on this video. If you don’t want to keep up with brushing, take your pup short. It’s cute! 🥰

My question is when will my puppy stop all of the wiggling so I can finally trim around his face to get hair out of his eyes and all that? My labradooldle is 4 months and extremely wiggly. I am brushing him daily hoping for the best. Hoping eventually he will let me groom him without any trouble. As I see others do.

That puppy is passive compared to my 20 lb mini goldendoodle. Can't get away with just holding his chin hairs. Impossible to brush out - even with a muzzle.
Please turn off the music. (OMG straight note chaser jazz?! I hope the puppy didn’t have to hear it because I can only imagine how annoying it was for him!)
There are enough sounds going on in grooming the dog that it’s hard enough to hear you in above the noise and the music; very distracting. Thank you for your video and for showing us what you’re doing.

We got a new puppy last weekend. She needed a bath 🙊 I watched this video at least five times. She was so calm and such a good girl but I credit it to implementing your techniques. Thank you. I trimmed her toes and fully blew out her coat and brushed her. I’ll keep doing this til she has had all her shots and can go to her first professional groom. But at least she is being de sensitized to some of the steps now. I’m handling her feet and legs, holding her chin fur and lots of treats and praise. Just a little every day so it’s not scary.
Thanks for showing the puppy's response. Ive got an 11 week old goldendoodle and while he tolerates baths and blowdrying with irritated acceptance, i struggled with cleaning up around his butt, paws and touching up the face.
I like your video and it shows how to handle the dog very well. I’d really like to see a video on how to trim the puppy. What should I do around her face and private parts. You do show a bit of this which is great. I think a detailed “Trimming Guide” would be very much appreciated, especially from me!

Thank you for sharing I've been using my blow-dryer on my labradoodle but I think I'll get one like yours seems much easier and not as hot as my blow dryer.
There must be something wrong with the settings or something for me with this video. more than a minute in and all I see is a shelf full of shampoos, etc, and occasionally the ear and side of the face of the dog, with the content creator's captions half cut off on the right hand side. This looks like an iPhone video (tall and skinny), but without the whole frame showing. I'm bummed because, judging by the comments, this is a great instructional video.

Somehow I missed the groomer doing the pups body itself. I went back and tried to catch that but I did not see it. Did she use the clipper or shaver on her body... Is back, sides, hips et cetera.

i have a sheepadoodle highly anxious of groomer , trouble is hes 100kg and still growing he has to be sedated at vets now too impossible to groom otherwise. wish we had you as 1st groomer.

I want to keep our mini golden doodle in a "puppy" cut so that her body hair isn't cut as close to the skin as I've seen in other videos. You don't clip any of the body hair in this video so I was wondering when you'd suggest I start to clip our puppy's body hair, what to use and what setting (hair trim length) to keep that puppy look.

My biggest advice is to get good at prep work (bathing, fluffing, brushing, combing. Then I would invest in a clipper (like the Wahl Bravura) and make sure to buy the separate metal clip on comb attachments. The #0 (yellow attachment) is a really nice fluffy but short length. But you can't do that on a dog that isn't completely combed out 100%. Hope this helps!

I have almost exactly the same dog. Just a tiny bit smaller. Even the behavior. I didn't think I will ever have her groomed, but you did such a nice job that I would take her to you. Every other breeder I see shaves them. :)
That's because the dog didn't get a haircut, just trimmed face, feet, ears,and sanitary. Doodles have to be shaved with clippers when they get a haircut, but can be left at least 1 inch long with a clipper comb, as long as you brush them well and keep out the mats. If you let them get mats, it would be torture for the dog to leave it long, and try to get through the mats.

What is the blower that you use to dry the dof?.
It's very important for puppies to get introduced to the clippers, as well as the idea of bathing/brushing and the blow dryer before 8 weeks old. Puppy families should be encouraged to continue the positive experience at home so the first trip to the groomer will not be as stressful to the puppy.
