Great video. This was my first time grooming. Followed the video and it was really pretty easy and now dont have to go to a groomer. I can give her the cut I want and dont have to worry about her not being groomed the way we like. Thank you so much.

The problem with this video is that not all Labradoodles have the same texture of hair. Some are curly, some are straight, some have wiry fine hair. There is not enough uniformity yet to get a one size fits all trim.

    • @karinacamper5981

An australian labradoodle is still inconsistent and may take the hair of the aussie, lab, or poodle. There is no standard and because they're a mix breed, they look different from dog to dog. If both of my parents have straight hair, but my great great grandpa had curly hair, I can still end up with curly hair.

Abby Wetmore in that case I’d love to see the breed standard. I’ve yet to see any “doodle” breed true. Point me to the dog shows where they’re shown if at all. I’m sorry but if they’re a real breed, they can also be registered FSS (foundation stock service) if they have a standard and the like. Or shown in the miscellaneous class AKC. Or UKC.

It would have been nice to start the instructions with "having a clean blown dry and fluffed Labradoodle is key in the grooming process!" You can see the clipper being pushed at the bottom of the chest in this video. You should never push a clipper. Dog wasn't even brushed out. Giving people the idea that grooming is easy is what makes it hard for groomers to be taken seriously.

You also failed to mention that these coats need to be washed thoroughly and fully dry! You'll wreck your blade doing this hair cut on a dirty coat.I should also mention the way you trimmed that dogs ear was dangerous and cringeworthy and if I see you doing that again I'm confiscating those shears from you

    • @mypetgiraffe4236
      @mypetgiraffe4236 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      S Valentin,
I agree with you on almost Every point. 🙂
However... calling Labradoodles mutts is kind of insulting and implies that all the other AKC approved "breeds" Are NOT All Mutts and mixed breeds.
      🤷🏻‍♀️🙂
There isn't 1 single "pure bred" ACK registered dog that didn't have more than 1 breed included in it's genetic make up, as it was being developed.
Australian Labradoodles are developing a uniform look with each successful litter. The same as Any other AKC "breed" development.
My boy is a stud dog, and ALL of his babies look Just Like Him and their dam.
They've also had genetic testing for ALL the health problems of the parent breeds and good joint x-rays Before breeding.
My boys babies are All Curly parti colored apricot and chocolate with white and he And his babies are Georgeous (though I may be a bit biased... lol). 😉
      Also...
Having been a former professional dog groomer for over 25 years, I'd like to add that a product called Cowboy Magic, and a special slicker brush made by Chris Christopherson (don't buy on Amazon! They break easily) helps Immensely with any tangles you suddenly find during the brush out, and with the comb through before the bath and hair cut.
This video was interesting. But to cut the bangs so long makes for poor vision and eye problems/infections.
We go on play dates once a week with over 30 other dogs at a Huge dog park thats close by. None of those doodles have confirmation problems, and None of them have long bangs that hang down like some kind of sheep dog.
It just Isn't practical to keep the bangs that long.

All of the tips that were written out that came with the video along with the picture of the poor quality equipment... Let's just say it is obvious these people have little professional experience. We've been grooming poodle mixes for years. The only thing they are wanting are the bangs to be cut in a way that blocks the dogs vision and makes them prone to eye infection.

It’s because by fluffing the coat you get a better even cut and it makes your groom last longer by helping with matting if the hair is straightened. This dog isn’t prepped meaning he hasn’t been washed, combed to the skin and fluffed out.

Jennifer, ANY decent groomer can do a MUCH better groom that this quick hack job. Yes, as groomers we all know what Labradoodle owners want, and no, we don't need diagrams or 5 minute videos like this to teach us. Any good groomer will spend lots of time with the owner on that first visit asking exactly what specifics the owner wants that will fit THEIR dog's coat. And any decent groomer will also make sure to go over the coat with the owner still there to make sure the coat has no mats before they start the groom. Yes, it takes much more time and effort to do a great job on your dog. Find a great groomer who you can talk to and who will talk to you and it'll be the start of a beautiful friendship! :-)

I am surprised by all of the groomer comments. I have great clients who are smart enough to learn to properly brush and comb their dogs with a little education. Also, there are many breeds that require a natural look. Good groomers are educated in these natural looking heads. The Labradoodle trim on the head is very similar to a PBGV head. It takes practice and retraining your eye to a natural look as opposed to a scissored look.
