This has to be one of the best sax solos of all time straight up. I cant stop coming back.

I’ll have to agree man, this improv has everything. Great time, Swings hard, great feel, rhythmic and harmonic complexity and simplicity where it needs it and super melodic. One of my favorites for sure, would love to catch a lesson with this cat. #SuperTastyPlaying

Max is the perfect combination of sophistication, elegance, gusto, joy, and finesse! Every note seems to serve the music. I hope to get to hear him live one day.
The only thing wrong with this performance is the fact that it’s taken me this long to find it. 😊Bloody marvellous. This sums up everything that makes live jazz so unique and so compelling. Both soloists know the value of building a solo without firing all their best stuff off in the early choruses. Fabulous. I haven’t heard a tenor player who sounds that comfortable on his horn for a very long time. Is there more from this performance?

Who said white Europeans can't yump?? Jazz is no longer the sole providence of black American players methinks. This guys testament to that?? Sound, articulation, time and content. This guy has it all together, amazing playing and so understated. If I had a fairy godmother I'd wish to be able to play like this. And amazingly I've seen him playing on all kindsa different mouthpieces and horns and none of it seems to make any difference, he always sounds so great.. Harry Vadirchie if only.....

Tutte le volte che Max Ionata imbraccia lo strumento onora puntualmente ogni brano sia per il suo magico timbro e sia per il fraseggio attento e controllato! Non ho mai visto Ionata sfrenarsi o strafare, tuttavia è possibile che lo faccia quando mi inebria letteralmente con fraseggi e idee melodiche ricche di passione e bellezza! E' così! Ionata sa ascoltare e sa suonare la bellezza, basta ascoltare con attenzione le sue performance..

Picked up my horn after hearing this. It's so frustrating at times. Threw my horn out the window. Really love jazz, but I'm never satisfied, it just amazes me when I hear something this brilliant. The struggle continues. Makes you wonder if guys this talented ever get discouraged.

I keep returning to this wonderful clip. The beauty of Max’s sublime solo has rightly been commented on many times-and so it should be. But let’s hear it also for the great rhythm section. So simpatico! To follow Max’s solo is a big ask but Luca Mannutza does just that with a superb solo of his own that builds and blossoms in a great climax. Complimenti a tutti!
