Mi ricordate quanto amo ascoltare il jazz. Per me siete quanto di meglio ci sia nel genere. Dimentico di essere musicista e mi godo lo stato di grazia dell'ascoltatore felice. Pochi ci riescono.
Che bella musica Max, sei fantastico! Max Ionata is the number one in Italy and I am sure that in the world scene will know how to honor the first places of the best saxophonists in the world. It has a lot of technique but knows how to dose it without exaggeration, it has a melodic sweetness that stands out immediately, respects the dynamics and embellishes every measure without ever boring the listener, does not use patterns to fill the silences but tries to prepare the next sentence all the time! That's why Ionata is different from the others and that's why it's the best! Finally Italy will return to hope with the beautiful Jazz music!
Ive never heard of this gentleman but from looking at several of his videos he is trying to achieve something diffrent and also is influenced by Jaco at the same time. When he plays a hollow body or semi hollow body he is going for a fluid upright accoustic sound using flatwound strings and using the sound of the wood on his bass. When he plays the battered jazz bass his sound is more raspy with roundwound strings influenced by Jaco yet he has his own sound. He loves to play chords to accompany horn players in duo settings to achieve a "bass guitar" sound. Yet he is very traditional in his approach to bass playing.
Hello Mr Ionata ... Love your style and sound ..! I have followed you for a few years and it's wonderful listening to your development ... You honour the tradition of melody and form and restraint ... Always respectful of the music and your audience .... I am so tired of all the new sax players who have nothing to offer but blazing technique and harmonic substitutions and contrivances that become nothing but an exercise in self gratification if you know what I mean ... I could listen to you all nite and never be bored. Keep up the fantastic work and I am so glad to know of you ..... (Fellow sax player) .....

Gracias por esto!!! E escuchado esta version mas de mil veces, tengo hasta el solo de contrabajo sabido con el canto!!! Saludos desde Cordoba Argentina
I'm reminded of players like Rich Perry for example, who recorded But Not For Me years ago in a similar style and with a very similar sound (sans bass). This is fine playing and an important tribute of sorts to all those who've played with jazz integrity.
Such beautiful playing all around... wonderful taste! Love the sound of this bass guitar too, sounds like an upright but with a special character. Congrats! Cheers from Brasil.
Love your playin bro, I hear all the influences and I hear YOU which is the goal of all of us who play. Keep pushing ahead especially in these difficult times Much love and respect
Non so neanche cosa dire perchè mi lasciate sempre senza parole...non c'è una nota fuori posto...spero di vedervi dal vivo al più presto....santi subito!!!!
I really dig this bassists style and playing, he’s so fluid and chooses the best notes with perfect taste

Every saxophone player who plays this tune cannot escape Sonny's inflections...

MY HERO
No ego, no pyrotechnics, just bebop.

This cat is very cool, in control and he is not riding on the song. His playing is warm and inviting, I will be looking around for his material.
Dario is simply the Best BeBop, Bassist alive, amazing
do you know what kind of bass does he plays? It really sound like a double bass...
It look like an Eko... is it possible?
