    Immediately upon opening the video, I could see the clean air, clear horizon, and big sky. That's a great feeling. I was so sick of that haze in Thailand. Really makes me reconsider vacationing there. I might have to just go to Vietnam instead.

    Ahhh...Da Nang! Hoi Anh is stunning and lots of great riding on smaller roads there. When it all gets too hot take a bus up to Dalat: temps are much cooler and the architecture is French/Swiss mountain chalet style...it's a very European feel. And you will really get your hills in! Vietnam was such a great choice...you will never want to leave!

    Wow, having just moved to Saigon to be with my wife, I wish there were such safe, beautiful stretches of beach-front road like in Da Nang. As it is, I was able to get an indoor trainer setup to alleviate the cycling blues. Still don’t know when I’ll gather the courage to venture onto the streets. I’ve been to the beach towns of Da Nang and Nha Trang, and know that the slower traffic with fewer cars makes those destinations a lot safer than here in the big city. Anyway, congratulations on your move and good luck! I think you picked the right location to accommodate your love of cycling.

    I’m not a fan of the urban highway type of road design they’ve implemented but in general it looks pretty safe. Probably safer than my town on the south coast of England. It’s actually similar along the seafront road. Except ours is single lane and the drivers speed along there and can pass cyclists aggressively. So maybe the dual lane works in this case. Especially when traffic is low.

    • @TwoWheelCruise
      @TwoWheelCruise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree, it's really bad design and doesn't work well with how the local people need to use it (lots of backward driving). But it's at least a little safer than Thailand's with the lower speeds.

    • @ravenone6255

    • @BurgerTime7441
      @BurgerTime7441 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah it's not safer than the UK. There are a lot of crashes on that road near the beach. Once outside of the city, on the right roads, it is pretty safe

    • @TwoWheelCruise

      At this point, the only reason I'd want to move back to the US is to get Thuong a US passport. The US does offer a chance at a better life for many people coming from poor environments though, but for us right now Vietnam has more opportunities for us I believe.

Really interesting guy as he's a good looking guy so he does modeling and then is out there in the mud fishing and in the dirt growing bananas. LOL! Phuc Map also moved there around the same time Dustin did (about 7 years ago). And Max McFarlin came from a tiny town in the south and moved there after visiting a few countries. Chris Lewis moved there from Colorado and he speaks amazing Vietnamese.

    I was in Danang 10 years ago. Took a bus from Bangkok to Laos border, changed bus and drove on to VN border. There were 60 of us cyclists on Central VN bike tour. We biked from Lao border to the coastal city of Danang, Hoi An and biked back. Visiting tunnels, emperor tombs. We also biked up Banana Hill and stayed at the hotel up there. No aircon as it was quite high and cool year round. Traffic on country roads are not heavy but Danang was similar to Bangkok but a little less congested. Hardly there was any traffic lights, but cyclists, motorcyclists and cars seemed to know to avoid each other quite well. We could not do that well and needed to follow the guide Van around Danang whenever we left the hotel. There were many empty buildings in Danang. The guide said real estate was overdeveloped and could not sell. We spent in Central VN for 8 days altogether.

    Is it safe-----it would be a lot safer if you had mirrors on your bike. I've been riding for 70 years and after I was hit by an 18-wheeler many years ago, I would never ride after that without a mirror. It's saved me from being hit a number of times over the years. I would like to see both of you safely cycling many years into the future.

      @@BrianMax Oh, too bad. LOL. I'm from Edmonton. Happy Easter.
      Actually, when I got down Hai Van, I was testing my SA drum brake a bit aggressively and the fork snapped clear thru near the top. A laser couldn't do a cleaner cut. My faulty designed brazeons and it was too wimpy to start with for the weight. So anyway there was a welder only 2 miles away. Then later it broke 2 more times. LOL.
      Geeze you need a bunch of rain, Lake Mead is sinking like the Titanic. I've been there half a dozen times. The last in Oct. 2019, I just drove thru. Nothing is boring in Utah, eh? Can't say I agree with filling up the place with settlers.

    What a beautiful setting you have ended up in! That long ride along the beach with the mountains in the background felt very uplifting.
    You will soon learn-to instinctively avoid the dangerous motocycles and the grid locked parts of the city .
    Hope you can soon join a friendly cycling club which will allow you to start socialising .
    Were you serious about the idea of renting a house close to the beach and mountains ? Hope the rents are not sky high, because it sounds so perfect !

    Never felt safer riding on the roads. I rode De Nang to Hue return on the highways and it was super safe. In fact...like most cities...it only becomes more dangerous when you start hitting the busy areas in the city where there are so many distractions. That said...there's so much awareness of cyclists that you don't feel like you're going to be hit...and there is ZERO aggression. Literally...no angry drivers thinking they own the roads.
    It's a great part of the world to ride in.
