Hey Stikker Fam, sorry again for the quality level on the movie reaction... It's been a work in progress getting reactions from the stream setup but I think the culprit has been found and things will be adjusted. The Raid reaction will be the same but hopefully starting this Sunday for movie night, things will be better. Nothing has frustrated me more than not having these movie reactions live up to quality expectations. -S

"Walking has to feel like an eternity"
This is actually adressed in the comics. Quicksilver is a cranky person because of it. Imagine the entire world constantly moves in slowmotion around you, so slowly that you can literally run a marathon waiting for a person to finish a sentence. Imagine waiting in line behind an old woman paying her bill in pennies and then multiply it by a million and make it permanent.

@@keplerthe3399 But I was also a nod to let you know mutants were coming. That's what Matt said. He said their coming soon which means either DS2 MOM or some other movie. I think honestly it was funny but you also have to remember that they were on a time crunch and had to cut out lots of scenes in episode 9 and what would have been episode 10. So I think it would have been handled well if they had more time. But personally I wasn't affected by it because I know x-men are coming. Now it may not be Evan Peters or James McAvoy, but they are coming. They may just be alternate universe x-men and may be the occasional cameo every now and then. Marvel rarely messes up completely so we can 100% expect them to bring Ralph/Peter back up in a future film and show wether with Monica or Wanda herself.

It's kind of funny watching you be retroactively dissapointed about Ralph Bohner haha. It's less popular, but I actually liked Apocalypse (it's not as good as this one, but it has its moments and I really like Professor X's big moment/message), and I actually like the Quicksilver scene in it better than this one so I think it's watching it just for that. That said, some of it may be the 80s era nostalgia, and it also had a few characters I really liked seeing (Jubilee, Nightcrawler, etc). So I think that one is definitely worth checking out.
I didn't like Dark Phoenix though, and that's saying something given that I can usually enjoy most movies.

    • @spacemonkeyentertainment6413

Yeah, i think Apocalypse suffers from First Class and Days of future past being so great. Fassbender alone was worth the watch imo. Agree on Dark Phoenix, though i think my profound dislike of Sophie Turner as an actress had me biased from the getgo i guess.

Just to clarify, if I remember correctly: when Jean killed Prof X, he transferred his consciousness into his comatose twin brother. They just didn't bother to go into it all in this movie and it was a random end credit scene from the previous one that most people either don't see or it's easily forgotten since they never really dwell on it.
It's probably best to try to ignore the timelines with the X-Men movies but this is one of the better ones for sure and it undoes a lot of the problems with the previous one that people were upset with including character deaths.
    Wonderful reaction as always!

  • @ahdvd

Regarding Xavier being alive after being killed by Jean Grey, there's some end credit sequences you possibly missed or didn't see in order yet - In The Last Stand he's killed, but the very end of the credits sees he had transferred his mind to another body, one born without a conscious personality, that was mentioned during the movie (it's being watched over by a actress that is supposed to be an older Moira from First Class).
Then next up in the timeline was The Wolverine, where a Logan was in Japan. An end credit sequence sees old magneto meet Logan at the airport and Xavier is with him (it's not explained why he still looks like Patrick Stewart - could be either he makes himself look like that to people or somehow was able to change the DNA, doesn't really matter), they tell him a war is coming, which alludes to the future parts of this being after/during that war.

NOOO! You should have watched The Rogue Cut! It's an extended/alternate version of the movie that still fits perfectly into the whole canon story but adds more meat to both the past and future storylines. Anna Paquin's Rogue actually has a MAJOR role in the second half, Iceman meets a different fate, old Magneto gets more to do, young Mystique and Beast have more screentime that fleshes out their relationship, and it's just overall the superior version of a movie that's already damn great as is.

Days Of Future Past was 98% amazing. There are a couple very minor complaints I may have, but its a winner in my book. Apocalypse, for people who have never read the comic, may turn out to be an ok show..... it just pissed a lot of hardcore fans off because the portrayal of Apocalypse wasn't really true to the original material.
I still would give Apocalypse a 70% rating though as a long time fan of the comic. It had enough to be salvagable as an entry into the X-Men series, but there are parts of it that seem just thrown together, cheap, and not well thought out. If they would have properly done the villain, I would have easily stamped it with an 80%+ rating.

19:28 Welcome, Steven, to Omega Level mutants.
Epsilon level are the lowest, ones that are barely mutated and have low range or no-range powers, kinda like if you could make coffee hot by touching it for 5 minutes.
Beta is the next class, and can create localized powers. Using the coffee example again, you could hold your hand over the coffee cup lip and project heat down into it.
Alpha level (aka Alpha class) are most of the X-Men and big stars of the comics/cartoons/movies. These are the mutants that can create power fields, affect others with their powers, control forces with their powers, camouflage or armor up with their skin (Husk from the comics is a great example). An in movie example from Days of Future Past is Quicksilver, who can move extremely fast but cannot pass that power on to anyone else or protect them from his speed with it (the "Whiiiip-laaaaash" scene)
Omega mutants are the world killers. Jean Grey is/was an Omega. Xavier is an Omega. Magneto started off as a high-level Alpha but was retconned to be Omega in the mid-90s. Omegas are the mutants that can manifest their own power fields at unlimited range, can literally kill with a thought, can control existential forces down to the atomic layer (like Magneto with magnetism), and the like.
The most powerful Omega-class known to exist so far in all of the X-Men lore is Hope Summers, who I really hope they bring into the movies at some point. She uses power manipulation and strong telekinetics and telepathy. A literal time war was fought over her between multiple factions. Eventually, she is adopted into the Summers family because of Cable, who also wins the war. She is the only mutant to ever disperse the Phoenix Force when it was at full power, the entire storyline covered in Avengers vs X-Men.
There are a few mutants that are "Beyond Omega," but the only one we ever see in the movies is Apocalypse in X-Men Apocalypse. There are only four or five Beyond Omegas in the entire multiverse, discounting Celestials, who are the creators of the universe and its caretakers.
