It really is a miracle that this movie exists. The franchise had laid dormant for three decades while George Miller moved on to mostly family movies like Babe and Happy Feet, but then at age 70 he went back to the franchise he first made his name in, and delivered one of the greatest action films ever made, perfectly bridging the gap between high and low art with pure visual storytelling, ending up with six Oscars (the most of any film that year). Sorta sad that you missed so much details but it's understandable. Anyway, who cares about my opinion, just wanted to mark my thoughts here.
Interestingly, George Miller had desired to make the film as a "continuous chase" with very little dialogue and the visuals come first; so basically "a silent movie with sound", something he had also envisioned for the orig. _Mad Max_ in 1979, and took even further influence in _MM2: TRW_ - wanting that film to be understood in Japan without the use of subtitles. Well, opinions differ on that last point. The Mel Gibson movies weren't consistent in their lore either. It's been said that each movie stands alone as a legend that people tell about Mac, so they're all embellished and inaccurate. That's why the V8 Interceptor is whole again at the start.l of this one and why Max never stays at the end.

George Miller wanted to make this a black and white silent film. Obviously that wasn't going to go well with executives so he went more for the yellow/blue two tone and very minimal dialogue. The great thing is how much is told visually with minimal exposition from characters. Miller at 70 comes out and shows Hollywood how to make an action movie.
A masterpiece and an experience in the cinema i'll never forget. Mad Max 1 to 3 were my favourite series of the 80s by far. I never thought as a whole it could be bettered. Oh man this movie is awesome ! When I watched it I was BLOWN away , literally jaw dropping , the scenery , camera work, acting , ect everything was gorgeous
It was certainly "jaw dropping" for joe
9:37 - "Did they spray paint in their mouths?"
Technically, yes; but it's actually that chrome frosting that bakers will use sometimes on elaborate cakes, so it's essentially chrome sugar they're spraying there.
This movie won many Oscars for Best Design, Costumes, Makeup, and Editing - and all the recipients are amazing women.
When Nikki and Steve upload:
What a day, what a lovely day!
"Fang it" is perhaps some of my favourite Australian slang and this movie's Mission Statement.
Seeing the interceptor again only to be destroyed ,not once but two more times, was heart shattering....
that burning man joke was top notch during this time lmao.
"The guy with the fucking guitar". I just love how transfixed y'all were on by that guy. He really was killing it the entire movie.
"If you can't fix what's broken, you'll go insane" True words..
The guy with the flamethrower guitar famously showed up to the audition dressed in the costume he wears in the movie. Dress for the job you want.
Saw this in a IMAX Theater and it was a feast for the eyes and senses...
“What the actual fuck” just sums up this movie
Masterpiece. Almost all practical effects. The guitar really shot fire. Such a fun movie.
I love that in the midst of all the confusion, chaos and "What the actual fuck!?" we can all agree on one thing: Charlize Theron *ALWAYS* looks amazing.
Haha
Im so glad my friends drag to the movie theater to watch it. it really was phenomenal on the big screen.
"What world are we living in?" I believe that's a semi-average day in Australia, from what I understand 😂
The pregnant blonde is Rosie huntington whitely who was actually a victoria secret model anddd she is married to jason statham both ripped 😅
Joe literally has his own theme music raiding with him, you know he’s a bad ass
(At 9:42) No it's not spray paint. It's something silver you can put on food. Probably something pastry-wise
If you google them they say it is silver spray paint and what it means
What makes this movie so amazing is that the story is told heavily through visuals and action.
When the world gose to shit heavy metal will always survive
V8 will survive too 😂
Truly a masterpiece one of the greatest movies of last decade, cant wait for the prequel
Even though Fury Road is a soft reboot you really need to watch the original 3 so you understand the story of Max and The World. SO GOOD.
"What is this movie oh my God."
George Miller was an ER doctor and saw what speed did to people on the road. He translated that into Mad Max, and at 70-something, he gave us this masterpiece.
It's my favourite film of all time.
Speed as in velocity or the drug?
Immortal Joe is played by the same actor who played Toecutter in the 1st Mad Max. Australian actor named Hugh Keays Byrne portrayed both characters. Hugh died Dec. 2020.
The guitar player is the coolest character EVER in ANY movie...
in case y'all were curious, the guitarist's name is the Coma-Doof Warrior. Because this world doesn't already have weird names.
A reaction to The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy would be the best thing ever! You guys would absolutely love that movie!
legend has it the guitar guy is still playing
Always jammin
"I didn't know Cirque de Solei was in this movie... Look at this BS.."
I rewound this like 5 times because I couldn't stop laughing....
Possibly the greatest action movie ever made. An absolute tour de force. I remember seeing this for the first time, I was grinning from ear to ear and bouncing up n down like an excited child. Totally blown away. I can't wait for the next one...
If you’d have watched the original trilogy again the references would come back ..
How you have not seen such a masterpiece in theater!!!!But Mad Max Fury Road was just for quality people...
That moment when Joe warns Splendid about the rock was one of my favorites.
The Mad Max series takes place on Earth after nuclear war and its resources have ran out.
Ackshually, I believe Road Warrior was not nuclear post-apocalyptic - just out of gas. obliterates society just the same, though.
@@calibre97 the ending was a lil meh for me though
@@bullymaguire5838 Agreed. Bit anti-climactic for sure.
@@calibre97 I mean how in the hell will furiosa rule the people with zero leadership experience, that water well can't possibly have infinite water, the relation with gas town is over cuz she killed thier mayor the people eater so how the machines and cars work anymore, warboys considered immortan Joe thier God she killed him so she won't have thier Loyality as much as Joe had. So I really think overall they are fucked immortal Joe was actually a pretty descent leader. He give the ladies godess like treatment. Not that will end. So they are going to be fucked up too
@@bullymaguire5838 Movies typically don't lend themselves to nor should one expend the energy to such analysis, but you ain't wrong. I thought we were talking about the end of Road Warrior for some reason, but you are correct on all counts. I mean, hooray, they now have access to the water that is dredged/pumped alllllll the way up that tower (which, to be far, could be bypassed to be accessible via valves at ground level), BUT as you say, the labor pool comprises War Boys now without their leader, and the alliances with the other towns are back at square one (not necessarily bad but absolutely an unknown). Quite a thought experiment for "What now?" I think short term: greedy, pent up take-what-you-can chaos and disaster.
The boss baddie Immortal Joe, is played by Hugh Keays-Byrne who player ToeCutter, the baddie in Mad Max 1. plus you must of spotted that Nux was played by Nicholas Holt - the young Hank McCoy (Beast) in XMEN. This is also not based on the Mel Gibson movies, it was a updated remake, just had same char names etc.
The Mad Max stories are not consistent with each other, but that is ok. As they are supposed to be legends and stories passed down to other wastlanders over the years. I think one of the movies evens says as much, "the word burgers of the history men"
Rumor has it Nikki & Steven are still trying to figure out what they watched
Can confirm 😂
Love the Pur & Kleen threads, reppin' beltalowda
This reminds me of the film "Rango" where it has the town of dirt, everything is dry, and everyone wants water.
There’s a lot of nostalgia. Original director from the first MadMax. Immorton Joe is the original bad guy actor from 1. The little person is Master of Master Blaster from 3. It is a very cool movie.
"What in the actual FUCK" 42 times in one reaction!!😂😂 I love it???
This is supposed to be post-apocalypse Australia and water is the biggest commodity. You probably need to watch Mad Max II: The Road Warrior".
"What is going on?" - This makes me think you never saw Mad Max (1), Mad Max 2 ("The Road Warrior", my personal favourite) and Mad Max Thunderdome.
YO....This is my jam I watch this movie once a month and I never get tired of it. Enjoy guys
The guitar that the one dude is using on the band-mobile weighed 132 pounds and it was an actual working flamethrower.
That’s wild!!
Guys...its ok not to get what the movie is about like 5 minutes in...just let the story unfurl 🙄
Watching this at the movie theater was whole crazy experience. If they ever re-release it at the cinemas, i'll be the first one in line
I LOVE this movie, it’s definitely in my top 5 favorite movies... I’m gonna have a blast watching y’all react to it. Let’s go!!
The director also directed :
Happy Feet
Babe
and
Lorenzo's Oil
So.... you know... dude has some range.
Wait wtf?!? Seriously?? I had no idea🤣
This is the video I didn't know I needed! I just rewatched this movie the other day. It's honestly so good. As excited as I would be for a sequel, I kind of hope they just never touch it again.
Watched this movie on Imax, as soon as it ended my only thought was to stay seated and tell them to play it again immediately. What a ride!
I need them to react to The Old Guard just so Nikki can praise Charlize forever lmao
YES! And I bet they would really like that movie
I'm so glad I saw this movie on a huge IMAX screen with the volume at 11. Amazing movie!
Check this 1.Taken 2, Lucky Number Slevin 3. The Accountant
The amount of this film that they shot practically is mind blowing. And the unrelenting pace of this film is just brutal. Saw this in the theater and it was one hell of a ride. Still one of my favorite movies. Astonishing talent from everyone involved.
It won a bunch of Academy Awards, so it wasn't like it was some cult film.
This movie is such a love letter to old masterpieces that heavily relied on practical effects and stunts.
Truly a masterpiece in the action movie genre
Love how guitar-guy is basically their com system, like army drummers and buglers from back when .
All time classic film. I can't think of a single flaw.
If i'm correct, a edition in bluray comes in black and white as George Miller intended
If only guitar guy started playing the heavy metal version of "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher"
A masterpiece and an experience in the cinema i'll never forget. Mad Max 1 to 3 were my favourite series of the 80s by far. I never thought as a whole it could be bettered. Then this masterpiece came out. I could tell you were confused as you've never seen the other Max Maxs properly. I hope you watch the other films now as you are totally confused with this world.
The vehicles in this film. Were totally built to scale. Not one miniature was used
im amazed that they even used the life sized war rig in Nuxs sacrifice scene
I worked for a day with the long term sound mixer for mad max films, he won best sound Oscar for this. He made the sound rig that followed the truck about 5k away to record all the mics in the cabin.
