    The Remgrit saw is pretty awesome. It can do anything from cutting open packages to sawing padlocks open.

    I EDC’ed this multi tool for MANY years (early 2000’s until 2018) in my AV work. Definitely wins the award for most comfortable multi tool - the contoured aluminum handles and spring-loaded pliers are an absolute joy. I did decide to give Leatherman a try and now the MP800 has been retired. The MP800’s interior tools are unusually small relative to the overall tool size, and the pliers don’t open very wide. It was a great tool in its time, though.

      Great review! I agree the Gerber 800 is a great tool. I carry a Leatherman every day as well, but I still like the Gerber 800.

    My father always carried this. It's ok but it's a mule to try to cut stranded wire and several tools are hard to access, the file and the Phillips (which is very poorly cast) especially are a pain to get to. I don't think I could ever personally EDC it with such a useless blade though. The biggest flaw of this knife is the support of the hinge of the pliers once it's open. Very weak design that will break on you as all the stress is going to a 1/16" thick piece of metal, kinda a deal breaker since it takes Gerber about 2-3 months to warranty it every time the very thin metal piece breaks.

    I’ve had my 800 Legend so long I don’t remember when I bought it. I modified it, replacing two screwdrivers with can opener and awl from a discontinued Gerber SAK like multi tool. Made it more of a camping/field tool to fit my needs. Just recently gave it a new pouch by repurposing the pouch that came with a Gerber dual force. The dual force has a home in the tool pocket of my car kit. I own Leatherman tools, but as I write this it is apparent I prefer Gerber.

    I have several multitools and bought a Gerber 800 Legend, mainly out of curiosity. I gave it to a neighbor who is is studying to be an HVAC tech. My preference is for Leatherman tools. Thanks for the video.

      Great gift for your neighbor! Leatherman makes great tools as well.

      One of the great benefits of this over a Leatherman is the spring back pliers.

    I've had one of these for about 12 years and it has been used hard daily and it's still going (except the spring part for the scissors has broken).
    It's a bad idea to use a file as a pry bar because of the file notches they break easily when used like that. Maybe not on the Gerber Legend, I don't know, but normal hand files do.

    I now have the Method, MP700 and the MP800. I am missing one from group. By the way if you the Gerber 1/4” hex set it works for Gerber multi tools from the biggest to smallest plus some of the Leatherman multi tools.

      Very nice collection! It is pretty neat that the bit holder works for so many makes and models. I have a Nextool sailor pro almost identical in many ways to the Gerber strata. It comes with the bit kit included.
      What Gerber is your favorite so far?

    • @lawrencehubbard2985
      @lawrencehubbard2985 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Strata is the forth of the 4 and I find one new for $80

  • @lawrencehubbard2985
    @lawrencehubbard2985 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can get them new at Gerber Knives Made in The USA for $82 plus tool kit for $9.96. Which gives you access to all 1/4” bits there is two different types of tool kits for the MP400, MP600 and the MP800 make sure that you are getting the correct one. I will be ordering one Friday or in two weeks to go along with my Center Drive Plus, MP600, Stakeout and Crucial. I am also waiting for the Dual Force to be released to buy it. Then finishing my knives and back to the Leatherman. Also replace the cutters with the steel inserts they cut better and won’t shatter.

      No problem I really appreciate and enjoy watching your channel. If gives me a different look at multi tools from just buying Leatherman and Gerber. I would have never bought the Ozark Trails Multi Force until hearing all the positive reviews on it and what you can do with it.
      Thanks Keep Up The Good Work

    Any idea where to get replacement knife blades for these? I can't find them anywhere. Not even the Gerber website.

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I have read Gerber does sell some spare parts when you call the company direct. Some have mentioned the 800 has to be sent in and Gerber will send out a new 800 legend rather than repair. I am not sure cost involved. Other options are to scout Ebay for another 800 you can swap blades with. I am not sure if the Gerber 600 and 800 blades are interchangeable. The locking retentions may be different.

      @@hvacbudget8600 Thanks.
      I've also read comments from people saying they needed a replacement part, and in return for the original Gerber legend, they sent a brand new one. But blades are perishable items that can only be sharpened so many times, and despite the lifetime guarantee (25 years outside the U.S.), given how much it cost (£110), a full replacement seems ott.
      I find it odd they don't sell replacement blades as a matter of course. But I'll give your first suggestion a try. Don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

    What do you think of the smaller version to 700 same tool

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually have never held the 700. I like the 800 so I think the 700 would be nice as well. It seems a little pricey for what it offers. As far as I know it is not made anymore. I was under the impression it had a couple tools less than the 800 but again I don't have one yet so I'm not sure.

    Hi friend, what is your opinion on an 800 Legend for $92 on Amazon right now?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems a bit high but probably going price for a new one. Used on eBay they go for $20 to $60.

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Correct me if I'm wrong they use that model in the Terminator movie in the 90s

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice catch. It looks like this is used in Terminator 3?

    • @lawrencehubbard2985
      @lawrencehubbard2985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it MP700 in the Terminator movie. They even sold a low build number with the Terminator on the handles. If you find a Terminator model for a good price and good shape buy it. The main difference is the 700 has no saw and not as big. But all four MP’s of this family are nice 800, 700, Strata and Method.

    • @michaelk487
      @michaelk487 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the 800 Terminator movie it was kind of a little controversy over those two I think it was the 800

    • @lawrencehubbard2985
      @lawrencehubbard2985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If do a web search for the MP700 Terminator it shows the movie clips and one in the package then MP600 Terminator the same thing then the MP400 Terminator. The 600 and 400 have laser engraving special package. The MP700 has Terminator in the handle special package I have seen 3 go up for sale when it got up over $175 I quit bidding. The MP800 and MP800 the Ledge all came out after the movie. I have a large collection of Gerber Knives and Multi Tools and always looking for ones that I have never seen or rare ones and buy them.

    1 weak point.... don't force the pliers over too wide a nut... the spring will break!
    Ask me how i know...🙄
    Luckily my retailer replaced the tool free of charge...
