Probably 10+ years since I’ve commented on TH-cam.. great video found helpful because I’m still bed so decided to make sure I’ve cleaned it properly before putting back together.. I didn’t take that gold Pin out like you did.

Excellent, your step by step demo is so easy to follow. By far the best set of outboard service demo's on the net
Thank you - we appreciate your feedback.
Thank you for this great video. Very concise and excellent explanation and photography.
Thank you for your feedback - it is appreciated.

Excellent explanation, thank you.
Thank you for your feedback.
Great video
Thank you
Thank you
Good video. Unfortunately I have done all that I still can't get motor to start. Any other suggestions?
Fresh fuel
Sea foam and carb dip into solution over night
The main jet it s almost all the time a problem a have!
Question: is the idle jet open through the center of the jet with the two side openings? I have a jet that looks like it was never drilled through the center.
I can’t check my engine at the moment, it’s 900 miles away, but from my video it looks as if the idle jet should be drilled through the centre.
Hello i have a 1998 6hp outboard motor the issue is it only starts with starting fluid do you think the carb jets are plugged let me know thanks
That does sound like a blockade carb jet or even complete fuel blockage.
For the idle jet, try 2 turns to begin with, but it will vary from motor to motor and dependent too on how much wear you have. I like to warm up the engine then close the choke and gradually adjust the idle until I get smooth running but not too fast.
My engine has both overflow pipes missing but the engine is new where do those two pipes go to ? Thanks
The overflow pipes just drain through a hole in the bottom of the plastic engine casing
Idle jet adjustments? How many turns?

So a clogged jet will prevent an engine from starting ?
Yes, a blocked jet can make starting very difficult. Even if you can see that fuel is reaching the carburettor, a blocked jet will result in an incorrect fuel to air mixture and that's very important for starting.
Use Aspen 2 or 4 (according to whether your engine is 2 or 4-stroke) instead of regular petrol. It is expensive, but most of us don't use a lot in our outboards. aspenfuel.co.uk/products/aspen-fuel/
