Think twice before trying to remove the old overdrive solenoid. The two bolts that secure it to the transmission could be rusted and seized. If you're not really careful you could snap them off. If your solenoid is operating fine just leave it alone.
I remapped my button to a junction box inside the dash, so if ever I need an extra button for a secondary horn or fog lights, I have it available

It’s been 3 years but the M46 is a manual and this is for the automatics. Good luck and hope your still into Volvos
