My ex had an '82 240 2 door, paid $120 for it at a police auction. Had the same 4 speed with the overdrive button. I thought that was cool asf. Always wanted to hot wire it and make it an 8 speed, for no real good reason at all other than to do it.

The m47 should have a slightly lower 5th gear but is also lighter in weight, I would say mpg difference is negligible but yes as Mesquite mentioned, the m46 does handle more power

What's difference does it make between m46 transmission with the normal manual transmission. Does the overdrive in m46 save more fuel or power?
They fitted m46 to turbo cars and m47 to non turbo. Or at least more of them. So supposedly they handle more power. Mpg I think are the same.
