Thanks for your video. It is great. I think my 2005 Volvo s60 2.4 (already 202k miles) has this transmission. In January this year, I suddenly felt a loss of acceleration when I stepped on the accelerator while turning. I changed the transmission liquid once, but it seemed like I added too much. After that, I tried to drain and add the transmission fluid several times. After the impact of 3rd and 4th gears disappeared, the impact appeared again when switching between 2nd and 3rd gears. The impact of 2nd and 3rd gears appeared when switching between 1st and 2nd gears. I changed the transmission oil again in June. Now there is almost no loss of power when I step on the accelerator. But I can feel a lag between 1st and 2nd gear, and even when downshifting, which I didn't have before. Sometimes there is a shock when I release or step on the accelerator. I don't know if the 3309 transmission liquid I replaced from Toyota 4S store is not the most suitable.
Now I feel that when accelerating, it can easily reach over 3500 rpm, or even 5000 rpm. I suspect that changing the transmission fluid has caused the transmission to lose pressure.
I don't know if 4S is suitable or not. This transmission is found in several different car manufacturers, and they all call for their own fluid. Volvo's being JWS 3309. We use a full synthetic and they work fine. There does come a point when changing the fluid can cause damage. That is why it is imperative that it be done regularly.
Hello I have the nissan version of the aw55-50sn, I had it recently rebuilt and now 1,2,3 is going fine but no 4th or 5th. When going into 4th the car neutralizes and does not engage.. Any ideas ??
I have a Volvo with this gearbox, 1-5 gears work perfectly, when going into reverse you hear a very loud knock and a buzzing sound and the reverse is slow, I turn off the vehicle and turn it on again sometimes on the first try or with 3 At most attempts it works normally and the date on the board turns off. I think it is a valve, how can I identify the valve that is responsible for the reverse? I will appreciate any info
I believe you are going to find your problem is the instrument cluster. There is a module on the back that the transmission goes through. Volvo does not sell, nor will they help you with anything that is over 10 years old. We ended up having to find a used cluster. It's been a long time but as I recall there are a couple of different designs. So, make sure it matches exactly.
Hello,I have a question on this transmission,I have try everything to get the driver's lf Cv axle out it won't come out never did,I have the transmission out now open the transmission to see if I would be able to visually see the c clip that holds it but is not visible, since I can't remove the cv axle obviously the diff won't come out what can you recommend to go from there,Thanks in regards
Get a large prybar between the axle and case. One person needs to pry on that while another hits the side of the axle with a hammer. Alot of times that will work.
Hello, I have a Chevrolet Captiva 2007 model, a six-piston engine, 3.2 liters of petrol. I have a problem when I am driving the car and the engine temperature is in the normal mode and at a slow speed, there is a jingle and a ticking sound, especially when changing the first and second gears also in reverse. The gearbox oil was changed and the problem persisted. Is it because of the body of the valve or the problem of sensors?
Would be impossible for me to tell you what it is without being able to hear it. These are not prone to making noises so it may be something besides the transmission.
So I have come to the conclusion I am going to have to rebuild my transmission myself, I've only done some in tech school. Any advice? Do I need to make any special adjustments? What clutch spring compressor would you recommend or special tools do I need? Lucky for me, I have a complete unit the junk yard sent but arrived broken so I have parts.
The press for the clutches is where you're going to have an issue. All of them except the forward/direct drum you can use just about any foot press or bench top mounted one. The forward /direct drum has the input shaft made onto it and it will require one with legs that are at least 13" long. Only one I have seen that comes close is the Adaptacase one. It is nice but pricey. Use a Transtec kit with Raybestos clutches and band. A Filtran filter. Get your VB new from the dealer. These usually do not have much wrong with them other than that. You will need to have a scan tool to reset the adaptives and then relearn the shifts. adaptacase.com/press.html
Good day, I apreciate your time for making the video. I have a similair transmission that when you start the engine it will engage in forward and reverse. but after about 3 seconds it will not engage anymore. Is there anything in particular that I can look for other than the oil level wich is fine? thanks.
Funny enough i have 425k miles on mine in my 07 equinox its been mated to the same 3.4 v6 with just maintenance its starting to slip but its off and on i swear chuck noriss built this car
2007 saab 9-5 155k miles. But a swapped in trans. I'm having sluggish upshifts 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to4th. But hard down shifts most notably the 3rd to 2nd. Seems to only happen during bumper to bumper traffic and it getting warmer?. Is that a valve body thing? Or the servo?
No problem, thanks for watching. Check the S2 solenoid, if it is different change it to the same as the original. Check the spring under that plate, if it has it under the original make sure it is there on the new one, if the old one did not have it make sure it is not in the new one. I show all that in the rebuild video. th-cam.com/video/Rl8GxgKNssI/w-d-xo.html
My transmission instructor used those scribes too, I bought a set.

My 2005 chevy and 2006 volvo call for JWS 3309
Great things from Bosnia 🇧🇦.

Sounds like a problem with the 4-5 clutch or sealing rings.

hi are there any ways to reinforce this? do you know who makes stronger converter for these?
I know of no stronger parts. We use Precision of New Hampton for our torque converters. Very few problems.

Thanks. More than likely the clutch in the torque converter has come apart and has clogged the filter.
Mam ten sam problem. 2300km od domu :)
I have a question my af33 is leaking I'm trying to check the fluid but the dipstick is stuck
There is a metal tang that pops over the dipstick to keep it from coming out. Just push it to the side while pulling it out.
Is this used in the 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T (B207R) ?
This is used in some Saab's. I will look at my application chart Monday.
It can be either this unit or a TF81SC.
@@CurmudgeonTransmission Thank you! Mine must be the AW55 because I only have 5 gears and reverse.

Aside from the valve body problems these have they are a really good transmission. Sounds like you got a really good one. Thanks for watching.

Valve body.

What city and state are you in? Does your shop have a website?
It's not my shop, one of the reasons I don't give that info out. Sorry, get asked that a lot.
