How we shot a Mercedes commercial on a BMPCC6K | BEHIND THE SCENES

Very excited to finally share the BTS of our latest project for Mercedes. A big thanks to T2 Film for this amazing opportunity. I'm gonna upload a separate video focused on the color grading process later on, but for now, enjoy this behind the scenes!
Everything was shot on BMPCC6K and Leica Rs (except for the aerial shots, captured on the Mavic 2 Pro). The entire video was edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve (using BUTTERY Natural Rec709)

@@sarfios Well, that's the beauty of big/bigger productions. O lot of amateurs who pick up a camera don't realize it, but what makes great films is not just a guy with a camera who points it at something and hopes they'll get a good shot. There're phases like pre/production/post. There are crews, directors, lighting, talents and all this stuff.

A man who has practiced 1 weapon 1000 times is more efficient & dangerous than a bigshot using some weapon for the 10th time.
Love these kind of stories. Low budget, minimal gear, amazing content! You can literally do anything you put your mind to. One of the best BTS we've seen.

What's the point of getting a RED especially the komodo. An amazing video can't wait for the next one. I spoke with a famous director on his Facebook page and I expressed my opinion that Blackmagic is the best camera out there. Can't be compared with Sony Canon for video. It's so cinematic. There's a lot of hate against Blackmagic and I didn't know it. I just bought the 4K and I'm in awe.
Komodo has a global shutter. That can be pretty important to some directors
R3D is pretty sweet to grade and global shutter is a treat
I agree. I own the BMPCC4K, and I'm blown away with what I've gotten out of it. I think it's definitely underrated. I especially don't think you can beat the quality of its footage at its price point. As far as global shutter goes, I think in time it will become more common as technology grows.

I'm still super new, only 1 year experience. But this is the dream I have for myself in 5 years. Being part of an amazing team to create beautiful work. Or even do it independently if possible. (I do solo run-gun style at work)

Very good video! A full blown commercial being made! Was surprising to see how eleborate a team was used to create this! Talent from all over the world! At around the 05:20 mark, yep, using a Leica R lens was a good choice! thanks for showing the whole process! We make creative videos here in Mexico.
This is a great commercial too. A good friend on our advisory cuts for Artery and is an emmy award winning director etc. He does a ton of the coloring and editing for Mercedes commercials. This is a fantastic commercial. Frankfurt is a great city - irony is we are usually there this month.

I just got a black magic 4k and i'm in the process of building my first decent low budget camera rig. Seeing you do this job on a low budget set up inspires me and shows people that anyone has a chance to get a challenging job done by being creative with what you have available and budget cost restrictions.

Hey! It looks like you were using the Zhiyun Crane 2 for the stabilizer?
I know this was some time ago, but how Well did the 6K balance on the crane 2? Did you all need to use any counterweights?

How did the Zhijun crane 2 hold up during the shoot?
I've owned crane 2 for few years now and this year i upgraded to Pocket 4k. The Crane 2 seems to be on its limit with all the weight (pocket + tilta cage + lens), i even have to add some counterweights to get it balanced.

Thanks John! Yes our Sony LUTs are fully compatible with the A7S III. Never used ProresRaw cause I can’t edit it in Resolve.
Are you powering the camera and the monitor from the same v-mount?

you use the battery for camera and also for the monitor? as i know people fried the HDMI in the blackmagic when they do that' am i wrong?
Nathan Katash no I had another battery but I also powered it from the vmount many times without any issue

Hey Matteo, I have the pocket 4k, do you recommend getting the 6k or the upgrade isn't worth it ?
Hi, I have the 6K and love it. You may have to change your lenses to EF from MFT if you switch. The sensor size is great and helps a lot with low light when shooting in BRAW. If you're fine with your system, I say keep though 4k though. It's still a great camera.

Do you use you FD Lenses with you 6K, if so how ?
Nope, you cannot use them as far as I know.
@@matteobertoli they require modding which can be risky and better off being done by a pro but can be pretty expensive, thanks for the response! love your work
Ciao Matteo, ho bisogno del tuo aiuto. Trovo il tuo canale molto utile. Sapere che sei italiano mi motiva molto. Sono possessore di gh5 e non so che lenti prendere. Le Leica R sono fuori budget, ma vorrei prende delle contact Zeiss sono che non so se usare uno speedbooster, dato che nel caso dovrei moddarle con attacco EF. Oppure un sigma 18-35. Il fatto e che vorrei avere un look diverso dalla concorrenza per spot video musicali e poter girare i primi corti.
