It’s weird how the Devil May Cry Reboot felt more silly, then the Regular Devil May Cry games. Emo Dante’s more sillier then the Real Dante, and that’s saying something.
Having played with the absolute ton of fun multiplayer mod for DMC5, I'm actually hoping DMC6 drops the teasing that DMC5 did and just has full-on co-op. Could even see an easy way to split the campaign given how 5 ended. Dante and Vergil have one set of levels in the Demon World, at the point they've found something that has made them need to get back to Earth, meanwhile Nero, Lady, and Trish have the other set of levels dealing with the front end of whatever Dante and Vergil discovered, and then naturally the two come together at the end for the big finale with all five characters together.
Dante getting impaled by his sword and Vergil being in a part of the game played a significant role in the rise of DMC. In DMC 1, Dante gets impaled by his sword and Vergil is in the game (technically) and the game had good reach. Similarly, the aforementioned incidents occur in DMC 3 as well as in DMC 5 and those games did pretty well too. In DMC 4, we don't see Vergil, but Dante still got stabbed by his own sword and the game did kinda ok. However, in DMC 2, neither was there Vergil, nor did Dante get impaled by Rebellion and we all know how much love this game gets.
DMC2 Trish was an unlockable playable character and arguably the best character in that game. Lady in DMC4 Special Ed, is her first time to be playable and yes Dante is hot.
Yeah I've been seeing it crop up back then, but the actual official word NEVER had any hints that Capcom was gonna make a dlc out of Trish and Lady. It really was just a fanfiction
Ironically if they made reboot dante more like the original concept where he sounded like edgier Vincent valentine and kept the white hair and and a better outfit I would have liked the game a little bit better. but man did they do sparda dirty
DMC4 was originally announced at E3 2005, and got multiple trailers and a ton of articles, previews and interviews between announcement at launch. Also, the vanilla version of 4 sold 3M, and 4SE didn't release until 7 years later, so it was by far the most played version.
Itsuno actually wanted to make DmC 2 before 5. He helped work on DmC and genuinely loves the game even quote saying it’s “one of my favorites, if not my favorite” of the dmc games.
"If Dante lived in Los Angeles with us, I personally imagine he'd completely buy into our shitty culture and look and act like an extra from an Imagine Dragons music video, so that obviously means that such a depiction of him would be *realer and cooler and better* ™"
actually dante in the reboot will be more dark, serious and really an emo that take his past really seriouslly, but when the fans complain about it they say that they try to make his personality closer to the original and well, THIS is what they think dante was in the originals, now you can understand why they don't really understand the charm of devil may cry outside of the gameplay
Should change the video title to "The Fall, Rise and inevitable Fade into Obscurity of Devil May Cry" now that Hideaki Itsuno, Matt Walker and like... half the people who worked on 5 aren't working at Capcom anymore. Sucks to think about, but hey, at least it went out with a bang.
Itsuno, Walker, Ryosuke Yoshida and Ryota Suzuki have left. That still leaves the senior producer, all the project leads besides Itsuno, almost all the programmers and artists, and 16/18 members of the game design team.
A lot of people say "DmC would have been a better game if it wasn't called 'Devil May Cry'" and seem to forget that in such a case it wouldn't exist! The games raisons detere was to be a Devil May Cry game
The reason why the reboot even happened is the fact that developers behind Devil May Cry are at a loss of what even the direction is for this series. The fact we still keep saying DMC 4 is "unfinished" and this game took too long to make, is because of that. That's why they needed a reboot. They needed a new direction because they don't know what to make of it. Even if we bring up sales, DMC 4 was paltry chump change compared to Capcom's more profitable games such as Resident Evil and Street Fighter.
@@lesteryaytrippy7282 The reason why the reboot happened was because Capcom on the management level were chasing trends and certain sales numbers displayed by certain blockbuster games at the time, deciding that "westernization" was the way to go, along with heavy budget and time cuts on anything that wasn't immediately profitable just to push profits up. This was also why there was a LOT of outsourcing to western devs late 00s and early 10s. Further, fat lot of good the reboot did for the series. The original release of the reboot was met with mixed to poor fan reception, sold under it's projected numbers (only ever clearing the 2.2 Mil projection within the last five years), and was riddled with all sorts of issues that clearly weren't in prior DMC games (heavy and persistent glitches, locked at a ceiling of 30fps, had no proper lock-on). If anything, it only really reinforced the OG fans desire for a return to form, even when Capcom themselves tried to stack the deck when announcing and releasing DmC:DmC:DE and DMC4:SE, giving the former a lengthy trailer and a physical worldwide release, and the latter a five second blip at the end of said trailer, and an "asia/JP" only physical release. Guess what? DMC4 SE STILL sold far better than the reboot's re-release, which convinced the Capcom higher-ups to greenlight Devil May Cry 5. This is all to say, the reboot changed the direction, and it failed enough that Capcom changed the direction back to what it was, and sold 8.7 million with DMC5 (to date), blowing the ENTIRE series out of the water. Bonus Points: Half of DMC5's concepts (invasion of hell, Dante going to hell again, Dante gaining a secondary and more powerful DT, Nero having more than just his base kit, Nero gaining a complete DT) were in the original design bible for DMC4. One could only imagine what that DMC4 could have looked like, and how well it would have been received... probably be as beloved as DMC5 is today.
if is not obivious enought, dante wasn't suposed to be playable in dmc 4, they add him when the fact that nero was the main protagonist of the game recive a lot of backlash and capcom fear that the game will flop because of that and well kinda does since a lot of gamers weren't aware that dante was in the game at the time of it's release and a lot of people think that just nero was playable until very later, but then was too late to save the game, but yeah dante was a later adiction to the game so that's why they transfer a lot of enemys weapons and boss battles planed to nero to him and create some really inecessary devil bringer habilities to compesate that like the secret detector and even some basic habilitys like the ''hookshoot'' and reutilized all the assets they could from dmc 3 but funny enought they create one of the most deep dante gameplays ever doing that
The floor thing in mission 13 is meant to teach you how to stay in the air indefinitely. Every character has a number of ways to be maintain being airborne it’s time to get comfortable with them. It’s a running theme in most dmc rhat your safer in the air so I personally never felt it was that annoying. Punishing yea , bad design nah.
Goes for most games in the genre, right? Staying in the air puts you in a safer place, and bringing an enemy with you into the air puts the enemy into a vulnerable position for the player to deal damage. Games like Soulstice (a personal favourite) have ways of keeping you in the air like switching weapons mid-combo or using the grappling hook move on another enemy, or have a pogo/bounce-off move in games like Magenta Horizon (can strongly recommend). And in the case of The DIshwasher: Vampire Smile, you can simple dodge in all directions. Even dodge out of a dodge. (can recommend that one too)
I wouldn't hold my hopes with a new DMC game coming out since the original DMC creator left Capcom, because if you seen what Capcom has been recently doing with their IP's you would understand why he left the studio.
We got five DMC games after the creator left. "because if you seen what Capcom has been recently doing with their IP's you would understand why he left the studio." Making the highest reviewed and top selling franchise entries in decades? Cuz that's what they've been doing.
@Potidaon Ah yes, you probably missed the fact that Capcom censored the living fuck out of Dead Rising Remake, didn't you? The creator of Devil May Cry games didn't want his vision to be tarnished by censorship and restricting his creative control, so hence why he left the studio.
I wouldn't call it a Fall and Rise of DMC more like The wierd Sumble of Devil may cry. Because every time we get a "bad" game the next one proceeeds to just Be absolute peak of the Franchise at that point. we started with DMC1 a solid game, Fell over With DMC2, Bounced RIGHT back up with DMC 3, Steadily walked for a Bit with DMC4, Stumbled again with dmc:DMC an then again Bouced back even higher with DMC 5.

This became my favorite song, it helped me get through tough times and stayed motivated, I will never forget the amount of pure happiness the DMC series has brought me.
DMC5 was a game that needed to exist, the series never felt as complete as it is now prior. It was always trying to catch the same wind as 3 but for one reason (DMC4 bad pacing/unfinished) or another (reboot that did not appeal to fans and seems almost vindictive in tone) it never reached tha. With that I also understand why 5 has so many callbacks as it finally puts the cheese on the unfinished pizza we've had for many years (DMC1,3,4 feeling loosely connected/fragmented together), and damn it's some good cheese.
DmC actually has the best platforming in the series I feel. And it's the only game in the series where Vergil has an original campaign. The soundtrack is great as well. I also love the outfit with the converse for some reason Also Trish was playable in Devil May Cry 2 just to be annoying 😂
Dmc5 Vergil should have his own campaign, well.. at least you can fight Dante Boss that is really well-made and it's does feel like fighting the actual Dante
I would love a DMC6 but Hideki Itsuno left Capcom this year and he was the key integral part of this series being successful since he took over from Hideki Kamiya. It will be very difficult for anyone taking over the mantle and making a better game than its peak DMC5. Also Capcom is in the milking business with Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, sadly that's why I lost hope again of seeing another game in my favorite series Mega Man.
I might have a controversial opinion. But my ranking goes 5, 3, DmC DE, 1, 4 and 2. 4 may have potential, but I hate the level design and some enemy design too much to excuse them. It's a massive mess. And SE doesn't make it better. It just emphasises how unfinished the level design is
There's also a phone game now, don't go expecting DMC 6 it's a phone game, but it's still pretty good compared to other phone games of the gacha genre.

Trish was playable in DMC2, too. Played like the Dante in 1, but better.
God hand 100 fists at 0:5
i wouldnt mind a DmC 2 but I'm glad DMC 5 kept the series alive
My favourite gaming franchise ever. Sadly its dead but Itsunos legacy will live on
19:06 Legendary Dark Knight exist in original, only on PC version
DMC combat was incredible and satisfying, it was my first DMC game
okay im gonna say it DMC devil may cry is one of the best in the series gameplay wise and story wise nuff said
Having played with the absolute ton of fun multiplayer mod for DMC5, I'm actually hoping DMC6 drops the teasing that DMC5 did and just has full-on co-op.
I actually hope to see Dante and Virgil return in DMC 6. Then again as Lady mentioned "He will eventually be back"
Slight correction about Osiris: That's just the name of his scythe weapon in DmC. The whip is named Ophion.
Ladies night was just a fan made rumour though
Yeah I've been seeing it crop up back then, but the actual official word NEVER had any hints that Capcom was gonna make a dlc out of Trish and Lady. It really was just a fanfiction
15:19 can you cover Max Payne 3 next, Dead Space series and Bioshock?
Atleast he didnt mentioned DMC POC💀
Ironically if they made reboot dante more like the original concept where he sounded like edgier Vincent valentine and kept the white hair and and a better outfit I would have liked the game a little bit better. but man did they do sparda dirty
DMC4 was originally announced at E3 2005, and got multiple trailers and a ton of articles, previews and interviews between announcement at launch.
Also, the vanilla version of 4 sold 3M, and 4SE didn't release until 7 years later, so it was by far the most played version.
More accurate title: "The Rise and Fall and Rise ane Fall and Rise of Devil May Cry"
I got DMC5 a month ago after finally getting MOTIVATED to actually buy it.
Funnily the title could be "the rise, fall, rise, fall a little, FALL, and rise of DmC".
Yes, another game is inevitable - a DMC3 remake being possible.
DMC 4 was the first I played didn't know a thing about the backstory or anything like that, after completing that I went and played DMC 3 and loved it
I’ll never forget PlayStation all stars for getting me into devil may cry 🗿🗣️🔥
same thing, i was interesting into Devil May Cry thanks to that game

Itsuno actually wanted to make DmC 2 before 5. He helped work on DmC and genuinely loves the game even quote saying it’s “one of my favorites, if not my favorite” of the dmc games.
Yup😊
Finnaly a dmc video been waiting for this for more than a year now❤
Is no one mentioning that there’s gonna be a new DMC anime on Netflix?
If another DMC is in the works, they most definitely haven't said anything yet cause they'd be making it absolutely cinematic to play
“The rise and fall and rise and fall and rise of DMC” there fixed it for ye
glad that we all agree that peak of combat isn't a thing anymore lo!
Wait, but the steam version comes with playable Vergil
It was exclusive for a time but not anymore
"If Dante lived in Los Angeles with us, I personally imagine he'd completely buy into our shitty culture and look and act like an extra from an Imagine Dragons music video, so that obviously means that such a depiction of him would be *realer and cooler and better* ™"
the video should be called the fall and rise and fall and rise of devil may cry
18:48 Technically Trish is also playable in DM-... oh yeah... nevermind....
actually dante in the reboot will be more dark, serious and really an emo that take his past really seriouslly, but when the fans complain about it they say that they try to make his personality closer to the original and well, THIS is what they think dante was in the originals, now you can understand why they don't really understand the charm of devil may cry outside of the gameplay
Mega love for the mega video ❤
I love devil may cry series it’s really awesome and badass in my opinion
Nah editor did u dirty 😂
Erm actually trish was playable in dmc2
That big worm boss is skill required, i beat it in 1 minute at 6th playtrough it was a year ago.
I am now Subscribed and Motivated.
NOW lets talk about the last devil may cry which is DMC peak of cmobat , an amazing game that got huge love first couple months and then died :D
Who says it wouldn't have existed anyway? Devil May Cry 1 LITERALLY did just that when it started out as a version of Resident Evil 4.
@@1Synner This. What Capcom should have done when the fans got mad at ther reboot is make the reboot it's own thing.
Trish was actualy 1st playable on dmc 2...yeah i played it too
18:58 turbo mode was in dmc3
19:37 Did I hear Heatwave in this part of the video?
I wanted to use DMMD music 😒
if is not obivious enought, dante wasn't suposed to be playable in dmc 4, they add him when the fact that nero was the main protagonist of the game recive a lot of backlash and capcom fear that the game will flop because of that and well kinda does since a lot of gamers weren't aware that dante was in the game at the time of it's release and a lot of people think that just nero was playable until very later, but then was too late to save the game, but yeah dante was a later adiction to the game so that's why they transfer a lot of enemys weapons and boss battles planed to nero to him and create some really inecessary devil bringer habilities to compesate that like the secret detector and even some basic habilitys like the ''hookshoot'' and reutilized all the assets they could from dmc 3 but funny enought they create one of the most deep dante gameplays ever doing that
This video is fire!!!
Love DMC and, of course, love Dante and his brother, Mr Motivater
This video is motivating
I guess I’m the only person that actually liked DMC devil may cry. It’s not the best, but I did enjoy it for its combat.
0:03 ayo what game is this 👀
The floor thing in mission 13 is meant to teach you how to stay in the air indefinitely. Every character has a number of ways to be maintain being airborne it’s time to get comfortable with them.
It’s a running theme in most dmc rhat your safer in the air so I personally never felt it was that annoying. Punishing yea , bad design nah.
Also dmc 4se was not the first time Trish was playable it was dmc 2.
(can recommend that one too)
W for Ratchet and Clank OST
I wouldn't hold my hopes with a new DMC game coming out since the original DMC creator left Capcom, because if you seen what Capcom has been recently doing with their IP's you would understand why he left the studio.
We got five DMC games after the creator left.
"because if you seen what Capcom has been recently doing with their IP's you would understand why he left the studio."
Making the highest reviewed and top selling franchise entries in decades? Cuz that's what they've been doing.
@Potidaon Ah yes, you probably missed the fact that Capcom censored the living fuck out of Dead Rising Remake, didn't you? The creator of Devil May Cry games didn't want his vision to be tarnished by censorship and restricting his creative control, so hence why he left the studio.
With Itsuno's exit, there's a decent chance that 5 will be the last GOOD Devil May Cry game. And you know what? I'm fine with that.
14:28 naked gender swapped liu kang trying to perform his bicycle kick
Phew least peak of combat didnt mention here
DMC2 was Dante’s best character design, and DmC was actually a good game but no one gave it a chance. There I said it.
TLDR: "Devil May Cry is awesome and you should play it"
I wouldn't call it a Fall and Rise of DMC more like The wierd Sumble of Devil may cry.
Immortal temptation
Takes over my mind, condemned
Falling weak on my knees
Summon the strength of mayhem
I am the storm that is approaching
Provoking black clouds in isolation
I am reclaimer of my name
Born in flames, I have been blessed
My family crest is a demon of death
Forsakened, I am awakened
A phoenix's ash in dark divine
Descending misery
Destiny chasing time
Inherit the nightmare, surrounded by fate
Can't run away
Keep walking the line, between the light
Led astray
Through vacant halls I won't surrender
The truth revealed in eyes of ember
We fight through fire and ice forever
Two souls once lost, and now they remember
I am the storm that is approaching
Provoking black clouds in isolation
I am reclaimer of my name
Born in flames, I have been blessed
My family crest is a demon of death
Forsakened, I am awakened
A phoenix's ash in dark divine
Descending misery
Destiny chasing time
Disappear into the night
Lost shadows left behind
Obsession's pulling me
Fading, I've come to take what's mine
Lurking in the shadows under veil of night
Constellations of blood pirouette
Dancing through the graves of those who stand at my feet
Dreams of the black throne I keep on repeat
A derelict of dark, summoned from the ashes
The puppet master congregates all the masses
Pulling strings, twisting minds as blades hit
You want this power? Then come try and take it
Beyond the tree, fire burns
Secret love, bloodline yearns
Dark minds embrace, crimson joy
Does your dim heart heal or destroy?
Bury the light deep within
Cast aside, there's no coming home
We're burning chaos in the wind
Drifting in the ocean all alone
Edge, Lord
@@itsrainingcats9968 Those are the lyrics of a song in DMC. 💀
I also love the outfit with the converse for some reason
Also Trish was playable in Devil May Cry 2 just to be annoying 😂
Dmc5 Vergil should have his own campaign, well.. at least you can fight Dante Boss that is really well-made and it's does feel like fighting the actual Dante
Or they should have just mad Nero a mix between Dante and Vergil.
It just emphasises how unfinished the level design is
guys I think the devil cried
And potential fall again due to the backlash of Itsuno leaving Capcom.
