  • How to recover a sulphate battery, lead acid battery desulfator circuit. with NE555 simplified diagram. The components are simple, the diagram is easy to do. 555 ic will use electrical impulses to break the sunfats in the battery. This is a self-made battery charger with desulfation mode for sulfate removal

I have a relatively new Low-Maintainence Type Lead Acid (Not a wet battery) Battery, which is about 10 months old. As there was low car travel due to the Covid Pandemic, the battery charge often weakens. So i charged it using a battery charger as the car seldom moves.
But i found out that it always charge in 2 hours quickly to full charge of 12.5 Volts. But it won't keep the charge. The Batterry is not connected to anywhere or to any circuit.
The 2nd morning, it always came down to 10.2 Volts. The 3rd Morning it came down to 10.1 Volts and stayed at 10.0 Volts the 4th morning. Do you think this is one battery cell that has sulfated? Will a battery desulfator work? If not what could be the probable cause? Thank you for sharing any info.

Do you know if your battery charger pulses are 16 volt power spikes like a Noco Genius 5 and 10 charger or CTEK charger uses? I have a Pulsetech PowerPulse passive battery desulfator on my 2001 BMW battery as preventative maintenance as Pulsetech claims that there patented frequency they use can extend battery life up to three times. I also used my PowerPulse on my other BMW battery that I let sit disconnected for a year, and it was at 11.2 volts, I tried charging it with my friends Exide 6 amp automatic charger for 14 hours and battery voltage was at 13.1 volts, yet it would not start my other car. I put the PowerPulse on it along with a 1 amp Schumacher manual battery charger for 72 hours, and left the desulfator on it for a week and it started my car right up. My point is desulfation can take up to 30 days depending on how sulfated your battery is.

Schematic 5:30 ... If input is 14.1v then this no good because it shorts the lead acid to power supply which is not good idea... Proper circuit should supply positive negative feedback +30v&-15v spikes for 10khz for 10 days with least amount of current 100mA at most... for proper desulfurization... Also there are three types of sulfur deposits... Only one is some what reversible... Proper analysis of charge discharge cycles should determine value of this circuit

Thank you very much, my friend, how much is the appropriate frequency for all types of batteries. An appropriate frequency is one how much the first how many are the appropriate frequencies. Are the frequencies of 2MHZ to 50KHZ good? I hope the response You my friend

I have seen the majority of these circuits from 1KHz to 1.5KHz, be interesting to try higher freq, its been 6 months since you posted, have you tried yet?

@@kenanelicanov2327 Honestly I dont know. Just searching I found 1KHz to ~3KHz is the normal desulfating freq. I tried it on a dead sealed lead acid battery and after opening the battery and filling it with distilled water and salt. I cycled it 7 times normal charge mode to get a baseline, then started the snake oil desulfating method, in my case it really did not help.

Alfred very good, and yes I can see diagram. I built one of these desulfinators years ago off chemelec's site on the internet, not someone, not worse or better I guess, but that one worked, but didn't fix the battery, so it was to far gone I guess.

The best for this is direct from mains 230v via a 2.5mf capacitor, and a full wave rectifier will work for sure.
