Don't worry about feeling a certain way after watching a movie. It is your reaction and your true feelings.

The fact that you just casually mentioned that it would be crazy if it was actually is his daughter is insane!

yeah, not to mention he’s fairly new to movies - he like hasn’t seen anything yet he has a very collected thought process in every movie he reacts to

Oldboy is one of my all time favorite movies, and I loved your reaction to it. The amount of shock and incredulity you had was making my laugh so hard (in a good way).

If you „enjoyed“ this one: „I saw the devil“ is a good Korean flick as well… don’t wanna spoil anything tho, so check it out.

ayy nice catch with the franchise music video! i love this movie, that hallway fight goes so crazy that the daredevil series tries to rip it off every season lmao there’s a spike lee american remake but it isnt as good. this one is the middle entry in park chan wook’s vengeance trilogy, sandwiched between sympathy for mr vengeance and lady vengeance if youre up for more well made, feel bad cinema. he also does the handmaiden which i highly recommend

I love that song and video so it came to mind right away. If the rest of this Trilogy is up there with this one, I might have to do it.

You're good at this! I suggest you get a little old school, old boy, and start checking out the classics from the masters. Why not try Hitchcock's Vertigo, North by Northwest and Psycho (the original with Janet Leigh)? How about 12 Angry Men (the original with Henry Fonda)? High Noon? Cheers.

I think you may not know this but the director had done two movies before this and they are about revenge. The first was "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance". and the second was "Lady Vengeance" and I had watched the second film twice before and it is intense but not like his third which was "Old Boy". I think the director was trying to make a case for revenge is not always satisfying. Look at Woo Jin who is disgustingly rich and should have moved on. But he plans this 15 year plot to tear down Dae-su. And then Dae-Su has to take the revenge path when he could just walk away.
A couple of thrillers you will probably enjoy more would be "Cold Eyes" and "Man from No Where".

    Enjoyed your reaction & thoughts!
Watch ‘the handmaiden’ by same director, Park, Chan Wook
    Or ‘man from nowhere’
    Won’t regret it

Choi Woo-sik is a devout buddhist so a vegetarian. He had to do 8 takes of the octopus scene and prayed each time before he ate ALL 8 octopi alive. He's either a terrible buddhist or very devoted to his craft.
Also, fun fact: Mido's name means "trust" in Korean. It's a normal name enough that Korean audiences may not have thought anything of it (like the name May we often just hear as a name, not the month). Korean names always stem from actual meanings whether from Korean or Chinese. So her name would have been normal enough that to many Korean viewers they wouldnt have even considered it to be a clue.

I wish my name had a cool meaning... 😂 I always have to keep in mind the things these actors have to go through during movies. It's way more than remembering lines. Eating live octopus had to be a rush.

Hey. I appreciate your comment, and it’s definitely interesting.
However I just want to point out that being Buddhist, devout or not, is not related to being a vegetarian. Most Buddhist monks eat all meats just fine.
Choi Woo-sik might not have wanted to personally, but that is more of a reflection of his ideals and is largely unrelated to the religion. Buddhists don’t really care about what food you eat. Just wanted to point that out for anyone else reading this.
