Love seeing many of my favorites on your top 10 list! I really appreciate that this isn't just a list of the heaviest games. Rajas of the Ganges, in my opinion, deserves a lot more attention. Such a beautiful game that smoothly mixes several mechanics. Great list!
Great List, some of my faves on your top 10s. We love Ethnos at our house, and I agree it scales so well. Not sure how you feel about house rules, but we play that on your turn (until a dragon is revealed) you can take two cards from the deck and choose one and put the other one in the display. Adds more choice, and at least gives the illusion of luck mitigation, keeps the market full, and doesn't slow down the game. Thanks again.
We enjoy watching you enjoy telling us about your games! It's like you keep us smiling the whole time (all 29 minutes!) And I now have another 10 games to look into! PS: I just bought Cubitos (after watching Kim talk about it ... I never really have played a "race" game like that and thought I wouldn't like it ... but I really did) ... and finally GO TERRAFORMING MARS!!! I think I have played it about 70 times - almost every time with Prelude and many with Turmoil.
Loved the video guys!! Your energy is awesome and I’m looking forward to watching more of you guys. Definitely will have to check out Ethnos. Sounds right up my alley. -Doolin
Just came across your channel and loved this video! Your enthusiasm is too good. I'm super excited to go back and watch all the prior ones in this list! 😁
After this wonderful series, you're "exceptionally creative" jingle in your opening is forever stuck in my head now. LOL I don't have that many games, so my top 10 would probably be (in no particular order): Scythe, Concordia, Madeira, 18Chesapeake, Sleeping Gods, Hansa Teutonica: Big Box, Caylus 1303, The Great Zimbabwe, Dominant Species Marine, Twilight Struggle. That may change as new games come out over time, but that's where things stand with me, at least. :)
I've learned about so many games I hadn't heard of! Thanks for sharing the list videos!! Discoveries and Kaigan in particular are completely new to me and will be fun to check out.
Shogun was actually one of my first games that got me into boardgaming oh so long ago! The cube tower mesmerized me :D I love that we own a large portion of your top 10s already :) Couple of our favorites that didn't make either of your lists (I don't think) are Castles of Mad King Ludwig and Kingdom Builder
I love Castles of Mad King Ludwig, but I think it's best with more players and that means that the two of us don't pull it out and then I don't play it and it's a mad cycle. BUT I agree: it's a great, cool game.
You are both the best. This was really fun to watch. Games that I thought might be in your top 50’s but weren’t: Letter Jam, and Pictures. So is there a boardgamegeek list for each of your top 50’s or a place to see the whole lists?
1 Pandemic 2 Pandemic: Iberia 3 Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 4 The Quest for El Dorado 5 Photosynthesis 6 Quelf 7 Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu 8 My City 9 Dice Forge 10 Istanbul 11 Betrayal at House on the Hill 12 Castle Panic 13 Bargain Basement Bathysphere 14 Under Falling Skies I put 14 since you lumped your Pandemics together... I haven't got season 2 and 0 to the table yet, or there'd be even more on the list I'm sure!
I have been thinking of getting Ethnos for sooooooooooooooo long. I saw the gameplay and thought it was really awesome but there were some negative reviews especially about the artwork and also it is not a game that is talked about that much among youtubers. You made me decide to get it! I can't wait. Thanks for both your lists of top games!
great lists! loved to see some of my top 10 games make it as well: rajas, roll for the galaxy and CoB! I like Discoveries, it has to be one of the most beautiful games out there, but my wife hated it! I do think that the game works better at higher counts and we mostly play at 2. So you recommend Ethnos at 2, even if it probably is better at higher counts? cheers :)
I would say that Discoveries is probably better with more players; however, if you have fewer players, there's more strategy as the cards stay around longer and you can see what your opponent is capable of and you plan better overall. With more players, the cards go so quickly that you can't seem to plan as easily; but on the other hand, with more players in Discoveries, there's more opportunity for dice "stealing." In Ethnos, it's great for all amount of players and particularly strong with 2. I love Ethnos with any number of players.
@@TabletopTolson yeah, I agree with your remarks on Discoveries. She particularly disliked that sometimes getting fauna/flora cards was too random, but more than anything, she just doesn't like games where your turn just involves one minor little thing (repeatedly) until you do a big turn with a decent combo. Thanks for the feedback on Ethnos, I love John Howe art and intrigued now to check it out.
I like it: I played through the campaign (much faster, easier, and cleaner than Gloomhaven, but with much less choice and campaigns). I was happy to have played both JotL and Gloomhaven. Looking forward to Frosthaven!
'I work so hard and I still lose', I feel you it happens often with my grilfriend lol. Like I take really long turns in a game and plan my things and I still lose. Then I ask her did you plan your strategy or something, what do you understand that I dont? And she did not it just clicks in her head but she cant explain it lol.
Watching these has me thinking we have fairly similar taste and then I see Ethnos and that theory goes out the window. I should probably give it another try with a different group. I played it once (6 players) and nobody has had any interest in playing it again.
Hi Ivan. I found it to be pretty average the first couple of games, but then Kim and I started playing 2 player games. We go so that we could play a game in 20 minutes. And I just fell in love with it.
Ethnos needs a couple plays because it's a fast playing game but the first couple plays everyone treats it like a tense epic war game. It's actually a super smooth light card game with area control. We love it.
My either can't or won't commit to a top 10. Here's mine: 10: Trajan 9: AuZtralia 8: Brass Birmingham 7: Spirit Island 6: Great Western Trail 5: Arkham Horror: The Card Game 4: Robinson Crusoe 3: Scythe 2: War of the Ring 1: Fury of Dracula
I really love Brass. I listed Age of Industry (which is Brass lite) at position #19. I could (and maybe should) have just put Brass in at that position. So, a bit of an embarrassing confession. I have had Fury of Dracula on the shelf for years now, but have never managed to get it played. I'm thinking I should buy the app and learn it that way, so that I can teach it.
@@sylvesterln9984 fury of Dracula is easy. A few more rules for the Dracula player but it is one of my favorite games as well. A staple during Halloween.
6:25- Puerto Rico to San Juan... many in our gaming group prefer San Juan over its bigger older brother.
Really enjoyed this. Was thinking/hoping Obsession would be even higher on Kim's list, but hey, it's still a great finish.
Very nice. I will go back and watch the others.

Yay for Top 100 next year! I would love it if both of you did more top 10 videos together.

What a great variant for Ethnos (and it speeds up play and choice). I'll have to try it!
That was a lot of fun to watch!
Discoveries! Great game!
Thank you.
Thanks for doing these; it's been fun to watch.
Glad you like them!

Nice picks for Terraforming Mars. I'm glad you like Cubitos. It's really quite good and super replayable with the different cards/abilities and maps.

Ethnos! Some day, I am going to print a huge neoprene map and make custom tokens so this game looks as great as it plays.
That would be cool! Let me know when you do:)
Dwight, you have good taste in games.
Wow, what interesting lists! Gonna check out Ethnos for sure but I’m surprised to see Discoveries so high, I adore that game, too.
YAY, finally found a top list where the gorgeous game obsession made it to the top ten!!!
Great video! Roll for the Galaxy has an app 😄
I'll check it out!
Cool picks!
Wow, Kim shaved her head to play Louis, that's a lot of commitment.

I currently rank Letter Jam at 74. It's probably my favorite "spelling" game.
lol, louis! from sushi go party to mega civilization!

I know, we give Ethnos a pretty hard time. I'll lay off for a while:) It's a fantastic game, though, no question there!
