"Ganz Schon Clever Deluxe" has appeared in Europe and I'm told it does mash some older mechanics back together. I'd love to see this updated! (I know you've got a review on game 4 too, so a mega comparison vid would be awesome.)

Just a quick note: Doomed Run also requires the Outriders teeny expansion besides the three standalone games. It's easy to miss because it's just a small deck of cards, but you need that too!

Doomed Run is my favorite solo experience of the year (so far)

I saw some comments that daybreak gameplay is kinda of "everyone in silence thinking" and that put me off to trying the game (as it is super expensive as well) did your experience with the game felt like this? less table talk and more of each player solving the puzzle?

My prediction is in the footsteps of Darwin! the production of the game is stelar! That said I agree with you I will also play captain flip more than the other 2 :P

If The active player tells the group the number of the word they’re writing clues for…doesn’t that mean they already know the answer? If I say “Write words for #3” then I know to choose the third word no matter what they write. Am I missing something?

Did you back the Kickstarter by chance? I'm curious as to how much replay value the series has.

I sorted these problems with two home rules that, at least for my play group, feel fair. 1. As you said, a lot of times you get few influence tokens to buy what you want (cards are too expensive), or you just don't want anything from what is available (non-optimized cards). So we make that you can pay half (rounded down) of the influence cost to cycle a card. So imagine you don't want more "Reparo" spells. For just one of your influence you can make it go back to the deck and draw a new one for its place (it costs 3, so divided is 1.5 = 1 rounded down). This solves both problems without just "oh let's refresh everything again", which can feel like a cheap workaround. 2. About the difficulty sometimes feeling a lot luck-based... You mentioned the "reveal another dark arts event", which sometimes it makes a cascade effect that can just stun you from full health in one turn. What we do is, for EACH card you need to reveal, you ONLY reveal ONE additional card. So, if the first cards says "reveal another", and then the new one says it again, you won't reveal for the third time. Thus, even if you are super unlucky of getting multiple cards that reveal another, you are protected from a huge cascade. Even if you are in the worst case scenario of 3 dark arts plus 1 of Bellatrix (4 in total), you will never reveal more than 8.

Daybreak is so good! Totally agree with you.

I am inclined to agree. Daybreak is great, but it's a bit messy, and can be swingy. Some people think it's way too hard, while others think it's way too easy. I haven't played GoME, but it seems more stable.

Oh Daybreak frustrates me so much, but it's super interesting. I've never managed to win it and the theme is rather depressing. But the mechanisms make me want to come back... 😁

I've only played Daybreak. I liked it. The freedom to do whatever it is you want to the cards you acquire in any sequence gives me a sandboxy vibe.

I hope you’re right. Captain Flip is great! I also enjoy the Darwin game but haven’t had the opportunity to try Sky Team.

I'm with you on this. Captain Flip is simple enough that you can teach the rules in between sneezes. It's very accessible and intuitive.

Sky Team makes no sense to me. Why would the pilot an co-pilot of an aircraft be unable to communicate? The minute I saw this game being reviewed on another channel, and heard this, it was an immediate no-no for me.

if we played 5 players, and if there are 1 or 2 person sit in front of you, then they are hard to see the map. this is the minus of this game. and the itinerary token just a card board :(

I like it. I'm not sure it's Spiel des Jahres for me, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I think the other thing I like about Decorum is when we have finished a scenario and we share what we had and there is almost always something that we kind of understood but not perfectly. That debrief is really nice. Additionally: We play the base game (and this I suspect) 4 players, but as two couples, and each couple is effectively 1 player - so no rule changes, and the banter is always *chefs kiss*

Oh, I have always wanted to learn how to play Great Western Trail, but I have tried watching play throughs and I'm so confused... Maybe some day!

Very nice! I've only played the base game so far but I have the map packs on order so this helps me get excited about them :) Cartographers is so good! I started out kinda "meh" on it but it got better with every play and now it's one of my favorites.

I’m going to be ranking all of the maps on my channel soon as well. I’ve been working through all of them and doing solo playthroughs on my channel.

As there are multiples of each tile (except treasure map), do they have identical opposite sides? I.e. If there are 4 cartographer tiles in the bag, do they all have monkey on their opposite side? I wonder if some players might be able, over several plays, to remember what's on the back of a tile. --- Thanks for the review. I think I'll be getting this game. Need a 5p game for under 2hrs.

For those interested in the additional pack (Fisherman's Feud) and game (FoG Express) that you described, those games are not available in the retail version of the game. The "Kickstarter" version includes the pack and the "Premium" version includes the pack and the extra card game. Those versions are both available at Dr. Finn's Games website and I don't think they can really be found anywhere else. Thanks again for the review and I hope you have an awesome summer!
