This video could’ve been title “Isaac Childres teaches people to read their cards.” 😄
LMFAO that’s a good one!
Great playthrough! One thing for people new to Gloomhaven: if you infuse an element with a card you play, it gets infused (move disc to strong column) at the end of your turn, not when you play the card.
I will say, it was super brave of the player with basically no experience to be on the video! Gloomhaven is not easy for most to pick up. Bravo!
@@Gherkinkhan does that mean the element can’t be used by another character or monster until the turn after the element comes out? I thought the element was available immediately… but i am new lol
@@Tmisp2209 with it being infused at the end of your turn, yes another player or monster can use the element. You cannot use elements that you infuse during your turn that result from abilities. One exception is if you use an item that can infuse an element. Then, the element is immediately available for use.
I always imagined an army of rats went out for the mindthief loot 2 to pick up the coins
Can't wait for my copy. Will be playing with my son's. Please do more of these x
Love this. Very entertaining and a great advert for Gloomhaven.
We need a full playthrough with this combination.
Enjoyed watching and the RPG...thanks for the show!
This was so cool and entertaining to watch. I hope you meet up someday to play together again. Thanks for the good times, and best of luck to each of you!
Awesome to hear Jake from Woodland War Machine! Get the other guys on the Gloomhaven / Frosthaven train!
I loved the cragheart player's reactions and acting 😂
Isaac would be awesome to play with, cause having that one person knowing the game, helps out alot. I just got jaws of lion see if my friends want to play, and than i get second edition next year, of anything to just play alone if i cant find extra players. I try to learn all rules as best as i can than, i get Frosthaven. =]
It’s too bad it’s gonna be so long yet for second edition😢 I can’t wait!
It was a bit confusing at 1:37:04 when the screen showed a +0 when you can tell that a x0 was drawn.
Bought the 1st edition a year and a half ago but by an unlucky or maybe lucky event, when I moved the game was left behind inside one of the moving boxes (or maybe stolen) who knows. Anyway what seems like a bad outcome now has become an opportunity which I have already backed and can’t wait to start again with all the new changes!
1:20:22 Could the Bruiser instead have Lost 2 cards from his discard pile (assuming he had two in his discard pile) to avoid the damage? That choice wasn't mentioned.
Isaac expression is always magical! lol
Excellent play through. It was very entertaining.
Awesome video. Where can we buy this version of the game?
Looks great. Very surprised the Jaws of the Lion booklets are not here though, they litterlly imoroved a great game instantly (overall).
If thoose booklet comes out it is an autu-buy for me.
Thought they were coming later.
4:20. Great idea... in a game with newbie players, play as the healer.
5:00. Inox Bruiser, aka the Brute.
12:42. What do you know... Cragheart is last.
15:48. "Reminding me"... Right...... Good play letting the creator explain the first attack of the game.
21:50. 1 each of null & x2, 1 each of -2 & +2, 5 each of -1 & +1, 6 +0.
1:07:50. What is happening is that she wants you to end your turn on that coin.
Such a beautiful character miss Kate Elliott. Would love to play some games with her.
18:14 "we can move through eachother" Im still learning the rules for frosthaven, I havent played gloomhaven yet but isnt it the case that you can shoot through other players/enemies but you cant move through them?
nevermind. I just found this entry in the frosthaven rule book
"Figures can move through allies but cannot move through enemies, obstacles, objectives, or walls. Traps and other effects of hexes trigger when a figure enters them."
"A figure must always end their movement in an unoccupied hex."
this will change my whole game.
Good vibes play through! Did monster movement mechanics change with 2e? I was under the impression that @1.14.45 The living spirit shouldn't reduce its effectiveness against its primary focus to gain a secondary target.
I think it's a change from Frosthaven actually
1:42:06 Based on the math, it sounds like he pulled a +0.
You know you are a hardcore gamer when you instantly spot a mistake of the Creator moving the Living spirit at 1:14:46 :D
How was it a mistake
@@Michael-og7js Enemy is not moving next to its primary focus to maximize the target numbers and making the attack to have disadvantage on it (in case of a ranged attack).
@Zoleeca it didn't have line of sight. So move was correct. There is a doorway and thus can only target you through doorway hence the movement and disadvantage since it has to move there to maximise target numbers and would only have disadvantage on unit in doorway.
You're wrong.
@@TheOnlyTata Ok, so based on FAQ. So maybe I interpret it wrong? 1st priority is loosing/avoiding disadvantage on the focus.
After determining focus, how exactly does a monster chose its destination hex and how does it maximize its attack on its focus and any additional targets?
It will determine its final destination hex (the hex where it can attack it's focus) by using the prioritization rules below at the beginning of its turn. The evaluation is first done using the monster's current movement range. If the monster can't reach a hex from which to attack using the movement it has this turn, the rules are re-evaluated assuming infinite movement. Also, the monster uses its current attack when determining its attack/movement options, even if it may have a different (or no) attack when it eventually reaches its destination hex. If there are multiple hexes that meet the criteria, players decide ties.
1st - Attack its primary focus, losing/avoiding disadvantage if possible
2nd - Attack as many extra targets as possible
3rd - If there are still multiple attack locations with an equal number of different extra targets, use the focus rules (least amount of movement points*, then proximity, then initiative) from its starting position to determine which secondary target (in addition to the previous target(s)) should be included in the attack (repeating for a tertiary target, etc.) and select the attack location which includes these targets.
4th - Lose disadvantage on the extra targets (all equal priority, players decide ties)
5th - Use the least amount of movement points*
@@Zoleeca See page 42 of Frosthaven Rule book, if you have it ;
"When a monster performs ranged attacks on multiple targets, it moves to attack the most possible targets (including its focus), with the fewest possible disadvantaged attacks while using the fewest possible movement points".
As you can see, it doesn't matter if the focus is the one that is disadvantaged or not. What matters is
1. Maximizing # of targets
2. Minimizing *total* number of disadvantaged attacks
3. Minimizing movement
Original GH has numbered counters for the monsters to determine the order in which they move. How will that apply to minis? Isaac just moved the monsters (example: 1:14:08) in an arbitrary fashion.
Cool, there'll be numbers on the rings.
Wow. Totally unrelated, I'm pretty sure that Kate is the first person I subbed to on TH-cam like 20 years ago 😂
If it is, I had no idea she was still around and this feels totally random. The channel was Katers17
Hello ! I noticed that the players didn’t activate their defensive items, while my understanding about this rules is « you don’t have the choice, if requirements are there, you must use it ». More specifically, the defensive items are triggered when you are attacked / damaged. Isaac didn’t prevent this from happening.
Is this a mistake from me, or a change in the rules ? Or a mistake from them, maybe ?
Is Jake using "miindthieef" is the same voice as Reducto on Harvey Birdman? Or is it from something else. It sounds familiar, but can't pinpoint it.
I'm guessing if there's a bard character they have a lot of loot cards.
(Loot = lute, get it?)
Where can we find more content from Kate Elliot?

This is my first time seeing the 2nd edition print of gloomhaven and it seems mindthief got hit hard with the nerf battle
57:57 - Isnt that just 1 attack ? 1 modifier pull for all 3 ?
No, it is always one draw for each enemy, also in multi target attacks.
@@keineangabe8993 Not always.
@@xtraplayer7281 in which case should that not be the case? Notice that i would call a draw with advantage/disadvantage or with rolling modifiers still one draw.
@@keineangabe8993 i thought SPellWeaversa fire orbs card attack was a different draw against each target ?
but Brute cards ( Leaping cleave, or Sweeping Blow ) are only 1 attack modifier.
Why didn't the skeletons move on the turn they were revealed? The mob card isn't everything it does its on top of its base, so they had movement they didn't use
Seems like you have made the game harder for yourself than intended since I am pretty sure thats wrong if the card don't say move +/- x or attack +/- x then the monster don't perform that action.
@VGPorage yea i played my first few scenarios very wrong lol
First attack of the bruise hits 2 hexes. Should we count only one attack as they did or both attacks ? What do you think Isaac ?
Didnt he say he counted as one attack?
@@Circus1943 You are right, my bad ! Was not aware of this rule, good to know
give the blond lady proper triple payment
Is the backer studf closed?
It doesn’t really seem like they know the game as well they thought. 😂
The enemy minis aren’t included in base game right?
I think the base only includes standees & then you can buy the enemy mini packs separately (or in a bundle; several on the BackerKit link in the description).
Kate looks so amazing ❤
A good friend of ours made holder's for all the pieces ❤️
He found patterns online with a 3D printer, I wish I could show a picture, it's amazing
i dont get y brute was changed to bruser im still just gonna call it brute probably
Vermlings get a bad rap... Now I am imagining the wider societal judgement on ratfolk hip hop culture.
It kinda felt like they all (except Isaac) played GH for the first time. 😂🙈
Really too bad we have to buy the game again if we already have the first edition...
What do you expect to reuse from the 1st edition? I think almost everything is changed.
Well if a lot changes I think an upgrade kit would have cost a lot either way.
Kate's a fox
Yes that voice was obnoxious immediately and wished she stopped...
Wtf, a commercial every 3 minutes? This is unwatchable. I understand we all need to make money but that is excessive. Unsubscribed!
don’t care didn’t ask
It's YT doing that, not the channel.
Shaaaat up
Yeah it's pretty annoying eh!
Hey there! Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. This was a new default TH-cam instituted that we were not aware of and have now fixed. We so appreciate your alerting us!
