    I bought A7R3 in late 2018, and I use it for mainly photographing wedding. Still very usable & one of the most complete camera. The dual slot memory cards, silent shutter mode and the 500.000 shutter life are essential as well.

    This is still a sensational camera, the A version with the updated screen and USB-C port makes it a timeless camera in my opinion. You can see why they are still priced above $2000 and selling out. I still love the A7RII with it's tiny battery and the A7RIIIA with the new battery and battery grip is just a perfect camera. The USB-C port makes it a great camera for tethered shooting in the studio as well. The RIV is great but the files are massive, even an uncompressed raw from the RIII is 80MB. If you have the storage for the RIV then great but the RIII is just right for me.

    I had my new a7riiia delivered last week. Very solid camera (upgrading from a7rii). The rear screen is really nice and sharp; definitely appreciate the higher resolution in the field to review images.
    I like the 42mpix resolution and decided to buy the ‘a’ since I think it’s going to be another year before Sony produce anything new in this resolution/midrange class. Plus Sony’s new faster primes have persuaded me to re-commit to the system.

    The A7R3 is one of Sony's best ever all around hybrid cameras. Not too many megapixels that one has to go out and spend $10 grand or more on new computer equipment just to store and edit a photo. EVF is good enough finally. It is in an older style body but I am ok with that. The menu system sucks but that is just Sony no matter what camera you own from them. Everything else about the camera is excellent, and for the money is a great overall value. Couple that with the best lens selection on the market right now and Sony could sell this thing easily for the next few years and have an excellent cash cow to fuel future innovation!!

  • @RicochetForce
    @RicochetForce 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    This was absolutely brilliant! I was on the fence about the A7III vs A7RIII, but I knew I was going for more of a photography camera, wanted Sony's compact and nimble bodies, and that the E-Mount system would have a wide enough selection at all price points to satisfy me for years. Thank you for the super thorough review, and I especially like the absolutely breathtaking sample images and video.
    Keep up the good work and I hope you find even greater success in the future!

      @@RicochetForce it’s big and heavy.. however clearly not as enormous Sigma Art 70-300 - that thing is a BACK BREAKER. So I kept it because it’s a gorgeous lens and amazing images. But the Sony G MASTER is HALF the size and id say at least half the weight as Sigma maybe even lighter. I have the Sigma Art 50 1.4. GORGEOUS lens and excellent images - the quality forces you to just power through and ignore the size and weight. You can always go check one out at a camera store. OR rent one - but you’ll need the adapter. A great and affordable adapter is the Sigma adapter. Hope that helps.

    • @alchemist_x79
      @alchemist_x79 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have the RII, RIII and RIV so I can add to this as well. If you're shooting static subjects (landscape, product photography etc.) and on a budget (which, I know, is relative) it's a really great camera. I still have mine as a last resort backup to my backup. If you want to shoot sports, animals, or other fast moving subjects, you won't be happy with it. The autofocus is definitely well behind the RIII, with no animal eye AF. It's pretty much the same sensor as the RIII so the image quality and performance will be mostly the same, but the battery life is terrible (I used to carry four or five with me to be safe) and the buffer is very slow if you shoot a lot of shots, even with a relatively slow 5 shots per second (I THINK it's 5.) You'll be stuck waiting for it to clear a lot before you can do anything with the camera -- it becomes an expensive brick temporarily.
      It's a great camera if you want to dip your toes into the world of high-resolution landscape photography and I think at the time it was a game-changer, especially over the original a7R, but if there's any way you can stretch your money, I would look at a used a7RIII or an a7III if resolution isn't your most-needed feature. The third generation cameras were truly a quantum leap over the second generation (I know, because I have the a7II and original a7 as well,) That all said there are definitely far worse cameras on the market and for what it is, the RII is an excellent camera that does have some flaws you just need to be aware of.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The output of A7R II is still very good, but there are massive "quality of life" improvements with III models in all departments including AF, handling, video, IBIS, battery and so on... A7 I and II generations were kind of work in progress, so I don't recommend going that way in 2021. Paying extra for A7 III and sacrificing the resolution is better idea than buying A7R II.

      There’s a TON to learn on this camera and I guarantee that you will be overwhelmed a bit. But, there’s a ton of ‘how to’ videos on TH-cam which are invaluable. If you can meet up with someone in your area like from your closest camera club or the closest camera store (Best Buy doesn’t know A N Y T H I N G) you can get a ton of assistance. Also, learn the basics of Aperture Value, Time (shutter speed) Value, Manual - the best way to learn is to start off Manual - this means you have to set your shutter speed and time and exposure - this way when you go to Aperture Value or Time Value, the camera picks the setting you don’t. If you have any questions, I would be glad to try to help. First camera!!!!! SOOOO exciting. EDIT: I just realized you wrote this 9 months ago. Did you get the camera? How’s it going???

To resume A73 is an intermediary between good photos and good videos, A7s3 is targeting the filmmaker the "S" stand for sensibility in low light cause of the low res sensor which is not that good in photo but it does the job. Finally you have the a7R3 the "R" stand for Resolution that's why this is targeting the photograher in the first cause of this high res sensor. For the price the A7RII goes it's one of the best price/performance values out there. For Landscape/architecture/macro/astro I find it perfect. IMHO the A7RII is a better buy than the A7III for people who mainly shoot not-moving subjects, so still has it's place on store shelves. ;)

    I did not know you had the Sony A7R3! I’ve just recently purchased the r3 coming from @6400. I hated the A 6400, too small lack of buttons, was a big mistake as had Nikon d500/750. Only moved because video focus was dreadful. I searched for reviews on the A7r3 but not many especially compared to the A73. My mate has a A73 and I’m not that impressed, build quality and 24meg just isn’t enough for me. The A7r3 was only £200 compared to the A73 on eBay . I know it’s a risk but is cheaper in the UK even cheaper than second hand units. The focus seems just as good as the A6400 which was supposed to be very good. For me the A7r3 is better because I can change focus points etc easier. Can you review your 4 Lenses with A7r3? Why did you not do it first time around? Thanks

    Hi, I absolutely love your videos, I think you have among the greatest camera and lens reviews on TH-cam... However, I noticed, that when comparing the ISO performance of Fujifilm cameras with Sony Cameras, you do don't seem to take the different "ISO numbering systems" ("SOS"- and "REI"- system) into account. Although I think you did say that at the same exposure values Fuji cameras are 2/3 of a Stop darker than Sony cameras, you still compared the noise behavior with the same ISO's on each camera, when I think for example Iso 100 on Sony cameras is much more equivalent to about iso 160 on Fuji cameras... Anyways, again, love your videos and I hope you have a great day!

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! Both of these cameras are using REI, so there is no issues here. It would be a mess if I compensated for the ISO scales by using different setting on cameras that I am comparing, so I definitely won't do that. I always use the same settings for my ISO scene, to keep the results consistent. I also always say what is the difference in exposure, so you can simply calculate what is the overall difference in noise.
