As a previous owner of the A7R3 I wholeheartedly agree. I remember, when I was getting ready to make the switch from a mount to e mount I sold all of mine old amount gear. My guy at the camera store told me that they had just gotten in a open box A7R3. I jumped right on top of that.
Wow multiple criticisms were made of that particular camera, I knew about the fantastic image quality. Many of those photos are still hanging in my office today.

I'm still rocking the the A7R3 since I moved into photography/videography professionally and love the camera and agree with all your points. It's the perfect sweet spot for megapixels, with lots of room to crop but also keeps the file sizes down a bit. The only reason I will end up upgrading is now that I am doing more video I would like to have the flexibility of having 10-bit footage but if you have everything set up probably and decent conditions this camera is still amazing for video. Even when I upgrade to likely the A7R5 I'll still be keeping this camera as a backup and second cam. Cool to see you do a video on this older model that is still an amazing photography camera at a great price point. Great video!

The A7RIII was such a workhorse for me. I have upgraded, but that RIII is still no slouch these days and it's so versatile. I have shot some of my best images, from food photography to model work, using that camera. People like me who get upgrade itch make for some great deals out there on used gear, and like in the video, I would HIGHLY recommend this for kickstarting pro work.

I bought the Sony A7R 3A about a year ago and think it is the most under-rated photography centric camera you can still buy new. The 42Mp is excellent even when shot at 18Mp. The A7R 3A has some improvement to the LCD screen but otherwise it is the same as the original. The flip up screen is great for street photography too.

This weather conditions require more sandbags :-) In lathe/milling companies you can find scraps of steel rods (2 inch diameter for example) at the price of scrap metal. They will fit into the spacers between the legs of the stand and a little duct tape will hold them in place. A side effect of moving the stand from place to place will save you on gym fees.

  • @JosefFoti

I see the A7R III being still popular among landscape photographers as well and I understand why. The image quality is outstanding and the price is more than right these days. For me, as I shoot some weddings and events as well, the A7 IV is the sweet spot. I appreciate that the autofocus is faster, I'd say it has nicer colours and I'm just very happy with it. Right now the top tier cameras are getting so crazy expensive that I can't see myself replacing my trusty A7 IV any time soon.

After A9 and A1, R5t felt like a major step back @@tdawg719 I like to shoot hummingbirds and they are small and need to be photographed up close. R5 has the loudest mechanical shutter ever, well maybe R4 is just as bad. So loud, it scares small birds away. Yet you cannot change R5 into electronic shutter as it also has the slowest sensor readout ever....again like R4, so unless you want to have warped wings separated in 3 parts, you need to stay in mechanical shutter mode. The camera also felt very slow in operation after A1. It was bad. I guess if you shoot only people, it does not matter, people can wait and they don't care about shutter sound. By my birds do. Just not a good camera for me. Which is interesting because I have other modern cameras like Fuji XT5 which has very quiet mechanical shutter, A1 also has a quiet mechanical shutter, and even Canon R5.

I am not a Pro, photography is my theraphy. I still have my r3 and I love it. When my little daugther began walk I got a A9. Now she is seven and the time begins to make fotos with the R3. She begins posing and not always moving around 😂.
Love my old cameras and just got a 50 1.4 GM, love it and the next will be the 135 GM. I prefer invest in gear.

Yep. I’m still rocking my r3. It’s been killed by the ocean and repaired by photo tech. It’s still going strong. I would like a r5 but I can’t stop buying g master lenses. 😊

Manny I was just so worried about your light throughout the whole video I couldn't focus on what you were saying. I had to watch it twice :)

The A7R3 was my first Sony. Traded it in for the A7RV. I recommend the A7R3 to everyone. Especially for the price to feature.

A7Riii was my first serious photography camera as well. Haven't had it for years now, but yeah, Sony got a LOT right with that camera and it's still 100% competitive even today.

I know this isn’t a fair comparison as this is much older tech; but how does the eye autofocus match up to the Nikon Z8?
I’m just wondering as a secondhand A7r3 might be a better investment compared to hopefully imminent Nikon Z6 iii.

Bought my A7RIII in 2018 and I'm seriously considering picking up a second body. Literally does everything I need it to.

I'm an Canon R5/R6 owner and the A7R3 or 4 would be the camera I would go with if I wasn't with canon. Amazing camera!

Really considering getting the a7 III as a first camera. Price seems to range between 1400-1500 new, with the 28-70mm kit lense in my country. There are just so many options 😂 primarily I want to take some pictures when traveling, maybe even from a train if that is realistic at all, there are some nice scenic train routes here in the mountains

I love the A7RIIIA in My bag. It is my Go to Carmera. I was a Canon Fan boy with my Canon 5D Mark IV. But this Sony A7RIIIA is much better and the quality of the images is mind blowing. It gives me so much ley way in low light with higher ISO (800-2000). IF you are starting to get serious with your photography and want a wide choice of lens from many manufacturers., The Sony A7RIIIA is the best Bang for the Buck for portrait and street photography. You can get sweet deals from store new as well as used. IT is money well spent on a great camera

Had a great photoshoot today (portrait / nude) witch rich contrast, etc.
I set the parameters correct (great Film Simulation, WB, little grain effect, ...)
After I came home I realised that it ALL was shot in HEIF only, no RAW (turned it off for some tests).
BUT all pictures look great thanks to the great Fujifilm Filmsimulation. Out of the box great pictures....and thanks to DR400 I protected my highlights and the little grain effect makes it look very pleasing.
If I would start over again, Fujifilm would be my choice (and learning to make the pictures great without having the RAW Lifebuoy) 🥳

I agree! R3 is a beast! But why is everybody pronouncing Canon like "aseven"? Is that Dutch?
